I have dined and stayed here for many…

I have dined and stayed here for many years. There is a gradual reduction in standards. Last Sunday the roast was OK but not as it used to be. My partners meat was very sinuous and not edible. At the end we mentioned it to the waiter. No looked at it and shrugged his shoulders, said Oh Well and left. I mentioned it again on payment and there was no comment. They can do better, but need to do that sooner rather than later.

Very poor service at the Horse and Farrier

Just had an evening meal at the Horse and Farrier in Threlkeld. In fairness the bar meal main course was ok. We ordered additional drinks with our meal which didn’t materialise. Waited to order a sweet, the waitress didn’t return so we decided to pay and leave. I was asked by the young duty manager if we were satisfied with our meal and I said the service was poor and we hadn’t received the drinks we had ordered with our meal. He apologised but then went on to charge us for the drinks we hadn’t had! Very poor, didn’t care, won’t go again.

Unfriendly incompetence

My wife and I called in for a drink on our return from Keswick as we were staying in Threlkeld.
It was 1740 on a wet Tuesday evening. The place was empty but every table had a reserved sign on it. I ordered a pint and a half of bitter at an exorbitant price then to be told by the rude barman to wait while one person at a tiny table next to the bar finished then we could sit there. I refused and stated the PUB was empty and we would sit where we wanted as we were only staying for one drink. We sat at a two person table only to be followed over by an abrupt doorman asking if we were eating. I responded no we were only staying for one drink, he rudely said this table is reserved and we should move, I ignored him. We finished our drinks in a very unhappy atmosphere being made to feel like second class citizens! My wife questioned the rude abruptness of the staff with the barman who stated we might get busy in an hour or so. All the tables have reserved on them on the off chance they may get busy. This is pure laziness on the owners and staff who, heaven forbid might have to wipe a table if a drinker has sat there. We called In for one drink which might the next time have been a room and a meal. OWNERS take note if you do not open your sister pub the Salutation for drinkers then at least accommodate them in the H&F. I could fully understand your aversion to drinkers only if you were busy but o this occasion you were completely empty. Shame on you for treating genuine public with contempt. You should read and take note of all the previous terrible reviews instead of providing weak responses and deal with YOUR BAD ATTITUDE accordingly.
