Terrible

I was at this hotel sep 2025 and gave a 5 star review so I booked to come back 5th May 2026, what a disappointment this time.
1st off we could not get in our room till noon even though the hotel is only half full.
When we got in the room I couldn't open the fridge door so I went to reception to tell them ( the phones in the room do not work) only to be told you now have to pay for the fridge at a cost of €2 a night so I said OK I won't use it tonight or my last night so I will book it for 5 nights to be told you can't have it for 5 nights it's a minimum of 7 nights, so you have to pay €14 a week .
Secondly the food is disgusting and warm to cold, there is a queue for the toaster, coffee machine, juice machine. And microwave. So if you manage to get slightly warm food by the time you queue for coffee your food is stone cold. If you get your coffee 1st by the time you get your slightly warm food your coffee is cold, and I think the microwave must run on cold cause if you put your food in it takes about 8 mins to warm up. Fried eggs a cold and hard. The beans are put out cold in the hopes of the food warmer warming them up.
We went half board but spent a fortune on eating out, so my advice would be to go room only.
If you want water to drink with your meal it is €1.50 for small bottle
Entertainment...... . What Entertainment???? Unless you like 1 game of bingo then some Spanish disco music.

The location of the hotel is good but request a room opposite the pool side as there is a nightclub that goes on till 5am which you can hear if you have a pool side view
Towels changed daily however bedding never changed in the week I was there.
Beds were made bins emptied but that was it.

Stay at California Garden Hotel…

Stay at California Garden Hotel (Salou)– May 2025

I stayed at the California Garden Hotel in May 2025 and found the property to be well-maintained, with clean facilities and friendly, welcoming staff. The hotel was presented to a high standard, and the amenities met expectations.

I stayed in a Superior Room, which featured two single beds that could be configured separately or together. The room had a straightforward layout, including a walk-in shower and optional use of a mini-fridge and safe. Our balcony overlooked the pool area, offering pleasant views and ample sunlight during the late afternoon hours.

Areas for Improvement:

Noise Levels: One significant drawback was the noise disturbance from the nearby Flash Nightclub. Rooms facing the pool are directly impacted by music and noise from patrons exiting the venue, particularly between 3:00 AM and 5:00 AM. Despite using earplugs, sleep was severely disrupted on multiple nights. Guests seeking a quiet stay may wish to request rooms on the opposite side of the property.

Room Amenities: There was no kettle provided in the room, which could be a small but meaningful addition for guest convenience.

Entertainment: The hotel’s entertainment offerings were limited during our stay. While it may have been due to the off-season timing, this aspect did not meet expectations.

Reception Area: The reception area would benefit from the addition of comfortable seating. A quiet, relaxed space—particularly suited for older guests—would offer a welcome alternative to the main bar.
