Big coin

Big coin
I booked a 5 night stay to commence on the 27th July 2017 at City Gardens Hotel, Budapest. When checking in was told that the booking had been cancelled and there were no available rooms. City Gardens then located another hotel which was significantly down graded than the one booked but had a bed in. After 1 nights stay in a dirty and dangerous room (not a luxury studio apartment which was booked and paid for) we have been told that the service provider (hotel travel) had not paid any money for the accommodation and would therefore be cancelling the booking. We were then told to pay 170 euros for the stay at the relocated hotel. I have tried contacting hoteltravel.com through email, phone and social media several times but despite having an initial response I am yet to have a response. As I paid through paypal I thought this was a safe way to complete the transaction but because Hoteltravel.com take payment at time of booking and not at the time of the stay no money could be recovered. I am thoroughly disappointed and disheartened that my husbands 30th Birthday Present was ruined and cost a lot more than budgeted for.

WARNING: HOTELTRAVEL DOES NOT PAY REFUNDS

HOTELTRAVEL CANNOT HANDLE CANCELLATIONS AND, IN PARTICULAR, COMPLETELY IGNORES ITS CONTRACTUAL OBLIGATION TO PAY REFUNDS.

I paid HotelTravel £505.18 for three nights in Oregon (Booking ID 5482289). I cancelled the booking by email prior to the cancellation deadline [Incident: 170818-020361]. After over eight weeks, numerous emails and two unanswered letters to the CEO, HotelTravel has refused to refund my money. HotelTravel Customer Services has simply stonewalled with a series of inaccurate or irrelevant statements, i.e.

1. HotelTravel initially alleged that I cancelled after the deadline.
2. HotelTravel then claimed that it hadn't received my email in time, despite the fact that I received an acknowledgement prior the deadline.
3. HotelTravel lastly stated that it couldn't recover the payment from the hotel in Oregon. As I have pointed out several times, this is irrelevant because my contract is with HotelTravel not the hotel.

This is by far the worse experience I have had with any travel company over many years. I wouldn't want anyone else to lose money as a result of HotelTravel being incompetent and ignoring liability.

The worse experience ever

The worse experience ever, the worse hotel we have spent in China, its not even 2 stars.
The room was under maintenance and there was loud noise above the ceiling all the time (24H), the room smells bad, when we wanted to change the room, they refused and the reservation don’t allow us to replace the room.
The payment had issues and we forced to pay again there before checking in.
the hotel in general and the room specially dirty.

Please understand that not anyone could run hotels and not anyone runs hotel promoting websites, every single photo was lies, the hotel is old and everything need to be replaced.

Web site not working but customer services don't care

I used Hotel Travel last year and recently tried to book again but kept getting the message "Oops, seems our servers are tired! There was an internal server error. We suggest you try again in a few minutes." After trying for 3 days I contacted customer services who told me that their web site is "perfectly working fine" and told me to update my browser. As an IT professional I knew that my browser was up to date but I tried with 2 other browsers on 3 different devices. I also tried on my phone and on a friend's phone. I got the same error message each time but after replying to customer services they said "It seems there might be some issues opening our website on your end. We request you to please try opening our website later." As I have now been trying for over a week I will now be booking using another site and they have lost any future custom from me.

Awful Service Still Ongoing

Please see below my latest email to this company . I have honestly never experienced such dire customer service before. Truly pathetic.
Hi,

You have had nearly a week to sort this. I have now completely lost faith in your organisation and am extremely concerned about the safety of my money in the hands of your company. I am unable to cancel online because I am stuck in the 'pending amendment' situation that you have failed to resolve.

Please be advised that I wish to completely cancel the reservation and receive a full refund as agreed in the booking process.

Please inform me of any necessary procedures and approximate time frame. I will of course be copying this email to the trustpilot review site where I am documenting this miserable process.

Urgent - Flight cancelled - ref no. 4878810 and ref no. 3518192

I was requesting for a reconsideration on refunding my Jan 10, 2017 / 1 night booking for 2 rooms at Innpera Hotel Istanbul, Turkey and Hoteltravel.com is inconsiderate. For the fact that the situation is beyond our control.

We did not show up at the hotel because our flight was cancelled by the airline due to snow weather in Instanbul.

1.Hoteltravel.com Mr P. K reply to me saying “If you would like to have refund, we suggest you to negotiate with hotel directly”

My reply is: since there are different employees replying to an email Mr P. K. - you need to read the content of my reply before you reply to my concern, your answer is redundant.

As I have said previously before I got your reply:

It Is not my responsibility to talk, to interfere, to be the in-between hoteltravel.com and Innpera Hotel, It is hoteltravel.com doing business with Innpera Hotel.
I booked the hotel with hoteltravel.com, my responsibility is to deal directly with hoteltravel.com
That is business ethics.

If Mr P. K ask me to talk to Innpera Hotel directly for the refund, then what is hoteltravel.com obligation after accepting our payments. - it is goodbye after the payment, we - as customer we are on our own.

IF I HAVE TO DEAL DIRECTLY WITH THE HOTEL FOR THE REFUND, THEN I DO NOT NEED TO BOOK THE HOTEL WITH HOTELTRAVEL.COM.

As one hoteltravel.com employee mentioned regarding cancellation and amendment - customers have to contact hotetravel.com but for refund - we are on our own.
Hoteltravel.com policy is varied in general, it does not clearly specify including fortuitous event.

2.Also Mr. P.K. said “Moreover, why don't you claim this charge with airline company. It is their fault, not Hoteltravel or Hotel fault.”

Mr. P.K. do you know the meaning of nature and fortuitous event, did you read between the lines before you reply.

All airlines going to Istanbul are cancelled, how many passengers are stranded at the airport.
And you think airlines are happy about their plane sitting at the tarmac and still have to pay for the plane parking fee and employees for doing nothing because of the weather.
It is so inconsiderate to use the word Fault and to talk specifically about whose FAULT it is.

You need to know even how cheap the customers book their hotels - a portion of it, is also use to pay for your salary - that is why you have a place to sit in your table.
It is easy for you to talk about whose fault it is – because it is not your money who paid for my hotel bill

So customers who bought damage clothes from a store cannot complain to the store, he need to go to the supplier of the store to fight it out.

And you think a customer who got a rotten food from a restaurant cannot complain to the restaurant, the customer has to fight it out with the market vendor who sold the rotten food to the restaurant.

And that is the way you talk and talking about “fault”

Hoteltravel.com is the middleman, that is their business, they are the one responsible in dealing transactions, not finding fault and pushing the customer away when problem arise.

Reply from HotelTravel

Dear noodlechinese,

Greetings from HotelTravel.com and thank you for your review.

We are sorry to hear of your situation, however upon reviewing your bookings, we found that the first agent had already tried to waive off the cancellation fee for you. Unfortunately, the hotel did not agree to provide any refund due to their strict cancellation policy, which was available for your review prior to the booking confirmation.

Policy :: FREE CANCELLATION (100% refund) if you cancel or amend this booking before 23:59 7th Jan. 2017 (destination time). Cancellations or amendments made after 23:59 7th Jan. 2017 (destination time) will be subject to a hotel fee equal to the full booking amount.

You contacted us exactly on the arrival date or the 10th Jan. 2017 about your flight cancellation and and despite being very much aware of the aforementioned conditions, our Customer Service Agent contacted the hotel requesting them to waive the penalty. We would like to clarify that our rooms are pre-purchased, pre-negotiated room allotments and thus carry their own terms and conditions, such as the Cancellation Policy, which you are able to view before booking and upon confirmation.

Regretfully the cancellation of stay policies are not something that is dictated by HotelTravel.com and unfortunately we are not able to bypass it. The decision to proceed with a refund of the unused night is at the discretion of the hotel, and unfortunately according to the information we have received, the hotel has applied the non refundable contract and has not agreed to any refund. We have tried to negotiate with them to be flexible in their policy, but we regret to inform that our negotiations have been unsuccessful.

We sincerely apologize that we were not able to secure a more favorable result on this occasion but the hotel does have the final say when it comes to waiving of fees.

Best Regards,

The Hoteltravel Team

impossible to get through and messed up booking

We booked two rooms with two people in each room. They have put us all in one room and we can't get hold of them to sort it out. Recorded message just continually says that they are experiencing high call volumes.
Terrible service. We are very concerned.

Best rate, easy to book.

No problems with the booking. However, the cancellation policy is a concern. It appears that you need to cancel five days in advance or lose the entire cost of the booking if I understand the policy. In my case I booked for three nights. I hope I am wrong about this
