Had a really positive meeting with Kelly Hall (the kitchen designer.) No pressure at all but very helpful in adjusting the design to save us some money and also very useful proposals about units and drawers.
She was efficient and quick

UPDATE: Following my posting the review below, I received a phone call and spoke to the area manager. I must say that he was excellent, and clearly takes customer service seriously. After I'd explained my side he told me the manager would call me later with a realistic reduction of my bill. When the manager DID call, however, he STILL tried to get me to accept less than his original minimum offer of a refund of the mismatched units, and I had to debate with him to be fully refunded for ONE of the units, (not the two he originally promised) which tells me that he at least has no interest in customer satisfaction at all.
In view of the fact that the area manager was excellent, and previous work with a different manager was good, we MAY consider Howdens again, but NOT Buckie while they have such an inconsiderate, incompetent manager. Still appalled.
We run holiday cottages and have bought from Howdens before (a different branch), and have been happy until I recently decided to update my kitchen. The designer came out from Buckie to discuss it, and I decided on quartz worktops, plus a new sink, oven and hob. This involved replacing two units, but she assured me that she had units that would be a very good, though not exact match for the existing ones. I went into Buckie to look at the quartz and they were helpful, after which I ordered. I asked on more than one occasion if they could give me the order that things are installed in to ensure a smooth transition, as they provided the quartz fitters but I had to engage the plumber, joiner and electrician. They assured me they would, and then offered to liaise with the various fitters, as I intended to use people who worked with them often. All seemed good.
Everything was delivered to the house, but when I phoned to ask for the date the quartz fitters would come so I could book the joiner etc, they told me that they could not give me a date yet, as they were busy. I asked when they would be able to give me a date, but they said they could not even tell me that, which seemed incredible to me. When I raised a fuss they rang me back the next day to tell me they could fit it in two weeks.
However when the work actually started, everything went wrong. Nobody had liaised with anyone as I’d been led to believe they had, with the result that the joiner had not been told he needed to remove the existing worktops and level the units before the quartz fitters arrived the following day. They told me that Howdens branches had been told NOT to sell quartz or granite worktops to customers with existing units due to this problem. If I’d known this I would have ordered laminate instead, but at no point was I made aware. As the quartz fitters were booked up until the end of January, and my other fitters were also extremely busy, this could have been catastrophic, as I now had no cooker, sink, or running water, but luckily ALL the fitters worked long hours, rearranged other jobs and went way beyond what they should have done to ensure the worktop was fitted the following day.
In the middle of this, as the joiner had popped into Buckie to point out the mismatch of units, the manager arrived, which I saw as a good sign. He assured me that customer service was everything to him, and stated he would refund the cost of the mismatched units and would arrange some further compensation for the inconvenience of me having no water or cooking facilities for a few days, plus the extra time of the workmen (who I had to pay for), to say nothing of my own loss of work time.
When the plumber came to plumb in the sink the day after the quartz was fitted, we discovered a part was missing. The manager drove down with it, but when the plumber returned again to fit it, it was the wrong part and another worker had to bring the correct one.
Due to all this, the electrician and joiner had to come out twice, and the plumber three times rather than once. I also lost two days’ work time.
The following day I received a reminder that the original bill needed to be paid as it was overdue, along with one complex credit assessment apparently refunding me approximately £1600, and another additional bill for over £1000. When I phoned about this, the lady in accounts also found it strange, but told me that I’d only been charged the COST price of one of the units, and full price for the other, which amounted to a total credit to me of £100. Needless to say I was not impressed and was told the manager was on leave, but would phone me on Monday. It’s now Friday and I have heard nothing.
Due to Howden’s incompetence at managerial level, I have lost two days’ work, had to pay several extra call out charges for workmen I hired, have been lied to by the manager and am now being ignored completely. This has left me deeply inconvenienced, very much out of pocket due to no fault of my own, and with no faith in this company.

Sent my customer to Howdens, Buckie regarding a new kitchen where Kelly provided the design and help to the customer. The kitchen was ordered and delivered to my client in good time, first class service as always from the Buckie team.

Unfortunately the customer service received from the Howdens Buckie Depot on the last 2 occasions I have purchased kitchens has been very poor indeed.
