Scott Paget, Manager at Howdens, Cromer, did a kitchen plan for us that left out the dishwasher and had a space too small for the fridge. He had refused to send us the plan, because it was in part an insurance job – we were “not the client”, he said. The kitchen fitting company had expected Scott to agree the plan with us – but didn’t check that he had. It was only as the kitchen was being fitted that the mistakes – and others - were found. We were forced to quick decisions to fit fridge and dishwasher in, ditching units, one of them brand-new. We are left with an ugly gap between fridge and wall.
Emails to Scott have gone unanswered.
We have no remedy against Howdens – the contract is with Northdown Property Services Ltd (NPS), because Howdens sell to the trade only.
Meanwhile, a hinge on one of the new doors fell out within weeks.
Never again, with Cromer Howdens. Aside Scott’s failures, I do not recommend using a company that will not trade directly with you and does not disclose its prices. And if you do use Howdens, think about the contract terms if things go wrong – without the co-operation of the kitchen fitter, which we did not have (see NPS review), we have no come-back against Scott’s incompetence. A remedy for his rudeness is a lost cause.

We tried really hard to buy a new kitchen from Howdens as they are local to us but, in the end gave up.
Poor communication, confused pricing with various offers and price matches added to the fact they don’t seem to know if they are trade or retail.
Luckily this forced us to look elsewhere and we found a much better price.

After visiting the Cromer store i felt extremely disappointed by the way in which they treated me as a trade customer and also the lack of concern after questioning prices charged for a previous order, i asked about having a credit limit increase due to a large order i had coming up, bearing in mind i have had my account for 2 years and all invoices paid before due date, i was told its because im a ltd company and they were not going to increase my limit, when I explained to the manager I was not happy about the prices charged as the worktops purchased were costing me more than real wood he didn't care and even aftet stating I will be closing my account he didn't care, surely you should be looking after your customers.

I just wanted to say how pleased I am with my new kitchen, which we fitted last week.
From Owen’s support with the design, planning, and costing, through to the quick delivery, everything has been seamless. The delivery driver was especially helpful in getting everything into my garage – not the easiest task, but he made it work!
The quality and finish of all the units are excellent, and all the necessary fittings were included, which made the installation smooth and hassle-free. You read a lot online about various kitchen suppliers, but my experience with Howdens has been positive at every stage. I’ll be happily recommending you to others.
Thanks again for all your help – it’s been a pleasure dealing with you.

My builder used this firm at the time so I went with that. The original design service was Ok though a little offhand. Delivery etc was good and a lot of the products, cabinets etc. excellent, though a few not so great (taps wobble). However, to me, after sales support is most important and although initially it was good, now, at just over 4 years and with an ongoing problem with a join in quartz worktops which has been repaired twice, they have said they will not repair the problem again because though the work top is guaranteed for 25 years, the join isn’t! And what’s more, they say they no longer do that worktop so don’t use that colour filler (the worktop is almost identical to others that they do and it’s basically white!) Honestly, if I didn’t have it in writing I wouldn’t have believed it.

Let someone who moved into my old house return a splash back that he didnt pay for and refunded the full amount into his card after he accessed my trade account and the store changed my card details to his for the refund.
