What a disaster. The admin and bureaucracy at this company is just one obstacle after another. All you want to do as a tradesman is order and collect / or get delivered. What I got was "oh we can't offer you that price because your account was established at another branch" or "if you want to change your address we have to request that with head office".... "you want us to change your account to this branch - we'll have to put that request in first"....
This is not to mention that it took nearly 10 weeks to get my account set-up in the first place despite it saying on the website its "quick and easy"! ha!!!
Surely in this day and age... like most companies, you should be able to order your products online, pay for them.... and indicate collection or delivery. Not this company. Its shockingly out of date, and full of obstacles to do anything.
Here is a message to you Howdens... us trades people are not interested in your admin or bureaucracy and nor do we have time to faff about having to do deal with it or discuss it for endless minutes. We are just interested in getting things done efficiently and effortlessly. Simple.
They have lost in excess of £25K in business from me now and I have the feeling they really don't care [because they have no intention to change their systems) What a way to run a business.

I am a property landlord who needs to replace around 6 to 8 kitchens per year. We normally fit a basic B & Q kitchen which we have found to be OK. However when ordering a new kitchen for my own home from Howdens I was told by your kitchen designer/representative at your Queens Drive Nottingham branch that he could give us a better deal price wise than what we were getting from B & Q, so I was very interested in this.
Having now brought and fitted a kitchen from Howdens,which I am reasonably happy with, I have to say however that the impression that I have gained is that the price's that are charged by Howdens are simply made up on the hoof by the sale's staff, which is a little bit concerning. The price that I was quoted for my new kitchen was given to me around two or three weeks before your most recent sale. However when I ordered the kitchen during the sale period, I was charged the same price as I was quoted pre-sale with no extra sale discount. When I queried this I was told that the original quote given was at the forthcoming sale price's, yet I do distinctly remember asking, when I was given the quote, how much extra discount would I be likely to receive if I waited until the sale was on. I was told by the sales person that they didn't know until they were told by their head office. Therefore how could the extra sale's discount have been already applied at the time when the original quote was given if the amount of extra sale's discount was not known at the time?
There was also a situation where seven plinths were ordered at £17.80 net each within the original kitchen order. We then required an extra one in order to finish the job for which we were charged £24.92 net. This is an extra charge of 40% on top of the previous price charged.
From a customers point of view there seems to be no consistency with regards to Howdens pricing structure. Who would want to drink at a pub where the price of a pint was dependant upon who served you or the size of your drinks order.
The above comments are not a complaint but an observation. Howdens as an independent trading company have every right to charge whatever they so wish. However I have never before, in 40 years of being in business, experienced a situation where a price for a product can fluctuate by 40% from one day to another.
I was asked for my comments which hopefully will be found to be constructive.

Used to have great rapport with us tradies! Free stuff when you spent money with them, just bought a 5 grand kitchen and spent a grand on doors! “ any freebies?” No we ain’t got none! Not even a pencil or a saw!!!!! Getting too corporate now!

I went to another large kitchen company and they were not helpful to say the least. I visited Howdens and from walking through the door and speaking with Sinead in the Nottingham branch she was so helpful and knew her products inside out. I was then visited at home by James from the Nottingham branch who measured and designed my kitchen….I wasn’t the easiest of customers but he managed to put what was in my head onto paper and did a fantastic job. I also visited the store and sent numerous emails and James replied promptly and changed plans on several occasions and nothing was too much trouble. My kitchen was delivered yesterday by Luke, again so helpful and fantastic service. I have had the best experience from start to finish with the Nottingham branch and their staff have completely made my dream kitchen come to life. So a massive thank you to Howdens and staff!

Amazing service from start to finish! Shenade the manager really helped me, from designing my kitchen to choosing colours of everything, even the delivery of my new kitchen was smooth and driver very friendly, then to top it off all at a really good price! Would highly recommend
