Agreed a price with Rachel for 100 m2 of flooring, they couldn’t deliver Friday then said Saturday 830am , I get phone call 9am for payment of 500£ more than agreed , they said there look into it so 2hrs later another phone for payment £60 more than agreed so I pay this reluctantly, delivery turns up with wrong colour flooring, absolutely useless company

Absolutely awful experience of customer service at Portsmouth Farlington Branch.
Supplied wrong size lining. Called spoke to manage, explained. Easier if I swapped it over at the Chichester branch. She checked they had some, agreed she would contact. This went smoothly, the managed there said take the wrong lining back, he would only bin it. Mistakes happen and whilst I didn't need it I didn't want a wrong size for me but perfectly good lining going in the bin. I thought well this compensates me for the wasted time I have had - what a great
service after all. Next day I get a bill for the replacement lining from Shannon at the Portsmouth branch. Basically, she firstly denied getting it wrong, then recalled but said I should have checked, then denied sending the extra invoice, I read to her it was raised by her a 14:45 the previous day, then blamed the other manager for giving me the lining. She insisted I return it. If they wanted to collect that was fine I final said, yes she said yes but would charge for collection. Of course that was not acceptable to me so she said she would have to talk to both managers and get back to me - nothing. After 6 calls she didn't call me back so I was force to return it on my Saturday wasting yes another hour of my time. And then she blamed her manager for not sorting as promised. I have completed many 5 star reviews of Howdens but this has put me off ever using them again!

Bitterly disappointed in my door handles purchased from Howdens by my builder - had them a few years but didn’t expect to need to replace so many - I had handles previously last 20+ I mean they are door handles internally fitted.
The ones with locks for bathroom the locks have fallen out malfunction.
A few of the normal door handles don’t work so well the doors end up opening even when you shut them with force. I have cats I need to keep downstairs and despite knowing I’ve slammed the door it’s later opens. The handle is loose and floppy and hangs down. I’ve decided to share this as it’s not a one off case. It’s more money I’ll have to fork out for both new handles and the labour be aware these handles are not built to last - they were not cheap ones either as I wanted to safe guard exactly this happening.
