I wrote to the virtual assistant about a query, the virtual assistant (Rebecca) informed me that they were new and couldn’t confirm 100% the answer to my question. They were friendly and did give me a number to call the Taunton store as they have the product will be able to confirm for me.
I called the Taunton store this morning (Sunday) at approximately 11:15am and spoke to a female staff member (I was not given a name) and they genuinely seemed annoyed that they had to speak to me, it’s not so much what they said but their tone when they spoke.
My question was regarding a gold locket, item number 9780107, I asked simply if this item “was solid 9k gold, gold plated, gold filled or gold vermeal” they told me that the chain was solid gold but had to check with the supervisor regarding the locket itself. No problem I say, and they took my number to call me back.
When the assistant called me back, they told me the locket was “real gold” and I asked for clarification on this as there is a difference between solid/vermeal/filled/plated. They said if “I wanted a heavy gold necklace it would cost more than £199.00, the locket isn’t solid gold” which is a mad thing to say in my opinion and came across a little condescending.
I said I was confused by what she was saying, I understand it’s not ‘solid’ because it is a locket and there is literally space on the inside where it opens. But is the metal actually solid 9k gold? I then repeated the question “is the metal gold vermeil, plated, filled or solid gold?” And I was informed that the metal “is not plated and it is real gold”.
Basically, I don’t think they know the difference between gold types and their demeanour kind of sucked.
I’m gonna try visiting my local store and see if I can get a better response. The 3 out of 5 stars is for the virtual assistant who was friendly despite not being able to completely help, id probably give a lower score based solely upon the store staff member.

Yet again I called in to ask for help and advice regarding watch settings and I was determined not to buy any more watches or jewellery today ! What did I do ? I bought more jewellery and was served by jaii .Great service great advice and no pressure to buy
In the Taunton store, we have ordered two 18 carat wedding bands; extra heavy weight. When we came to collect our wedding rings, the smaller ( female ) ring was fine but it had an old, worn and shabby tag attached to it ( not a new tag ). The band of the bigger ring was much thinner than it was supposed to be. Obviously the ring was light weight and not extra heavy weight. It was NOT what we paid for. Also, there was no tag attached to the ring. The two shop assistants tried to convince me that the bigger ring was supposed to be as thin as it was. They were arrogant and rude. The female assistant, named Katie, was exceptionally rude and had no manners at all. She was also very arrogant. She treated me as if I would have wanted to rob the store by asking me in a very rude manner to move away from the glass cabinet where the silver jewellary was displayed. When I eventually told her that it was a rude comment, she told me that the store had been robbed in the past. Obviously she treated me as if I would be a potential thief....
When I asked them to show me one of their extra heavy weight 4mm rings displayed in the cabbinet so that we could compare it with the ring we paid for, they could no longer argue with me about the weight as the difference between the two rings was very apparent and not disputable. At that point I left my order and asked them to sort it out. The male assistant promised me that he will reoder the correct ring. However, the female assistant Katie continued to be rude. We received NO apologies from any of them as if it was our fault.
We are very disappointed....
Excellent service from Jai - helpful & friendly- a pleasure to deal with! He arranged for my chain to to fixed via the insurance my partner had paid for when he bought for me as a Christmas present. I renewed this insurance as the service provided was so good & even purchased a pair of earrings & insured then too! Would recommend Jai & Taunton store always!

5 years ago I bought a high end Seiko watch and for the third time in it's life it has gone wrong and had to be returned to Seiko.
Each time It has been returned H Samuel (Taunton) have bent over backwards to make sure that Seiko knew what needed fixing and each time Seiko has let both me and H Samuel down.
On this occasion H Samuel have bitten the bullet and ordered me a new watch, at no cost and without reference to Seiko, to replace the one that has gone wrong. What more could I ask for a watch that is now 3 years out of warranty.

Fantastic service from start to finish. Once fixed, my engagement ring was delivered via their courier, DX, within 24 hours and looked beautiful. I can't thank H. Samuel enough. Highly recommended.
Today 30 th sept myself and my partner I came to this store looking at engagement rings . I was concered because i have chubby fingers the sales assistant Katie was very very helpful in finding out my size she even let me try her own personal rings on to see the fit of ring as same size as me She also advised me on the ring i chose but as i live in Doncaster she told me to look online at the various rings in stock
