Hired a vibrating plate for some ground works. It was filthy. Clogged full of clay and dust. Not this wouldn’t matter except, they charge you for cleaning if you don’t return it clean. Something I found after I returned it, albeit cleaner than I received it but with a thin layer of dusty water residue over it. The staff kept me waiting 30minutes before deciding it was fine and left it on a pallet in the middle of the yard. The next day I got an email, not a phone call but an automated email saying my hire was in the workshop assessing for repairs. All they wanted to do was scam you the hiring deposit.

I can't really comment on if these are quite as good as the heavier petrol equivalents, but it did a good job, and being able to actually fit it in my car for collection/return was a big bonus. Easy to use, literally just plug it in and press the button! Slight downside for DIY use is it's 110V, so you need a transformer too, not a problem for me as I run it from a generator.

Value for money. It's always a good idea to hire for minimum of week rather than a day. It's cheaper and takes off the pressure of returning next day.
