When you have a Company proclaim on its Website that they:
"are one of the ONLY recognized vintage watch dealers who have never once sold any item that was not 100% original and untouched"
you have to wonder if there's an element of BS in that - however, discussing things with them is much worse.
Firstly, a watch that had dust and debris all over its dial - their staff told me that this was a "crystal distortion" - but then went on to say that it could be rectified with compressed air within 45 seconds. Well yeah, dust could be - but not distortion of the crystal, which would need the crystal replaced.
What this does show, in my opinion, is really sloppy work.
They then commented on 2 watches that I own, a Doxa Ultraspeed - which they claimed had been 're-lumed' - the reality is that there's actually no lume left on it at all.
Another was a Tissot Chronograph. I had mentioned that the Chronograph seconds had had been painted white - but they went on to say that it had been re-dialed. Again, even the most modest of armatures looking at the watch could have seen the watch dial was original; notwithstanding the fat that I had had it serviced by Tissot themselves - who give you a report on the imperfections (such as the hands and any scratches on the case etc) and who were perfectly happy with the originality of the dial.
So would I buy a watch from this lot - NO.
Would I ask their opinion about a watch - NO.
