Promotion not applied. Won’t honor.

I opened a checking account with Huntington after being attracted by a $300 sign-up promotion back in October 2025. I met every requirement to qualify — but when the bonus never appeared, I contacted customer service only to be told their system doesn't retain promotional records, so there was no way to verify or honor my offer.

This is deeply frustrating. I didn't just open a checking account — I also signed up for a secured credit card and a line of credit, fully committing to Huntington as my bank because of this promotion. To be told after the fact that there's simply no way to look into it isn't just unhelpful, it's unacceptable.

If you're considering switching banks for a sign-up bonus, be warned: Huntington apparently has no system in place to track or honor those promotions if something goes wrong. And when it does, you're on your own.

Wish I can give Zero Star

Wish I can give Zero Star. A simple request of transfer IRA fund out of Huntington to another financial institution turns out to be a 3 month nightmare. Not only the customer service, the supervisor or even Senior supervisor gave you a different instruction every time you called, but calling to follow up status has become an impossible task because they removed the IRA dedicated CS line and you ended up being bounced back and forth between incompetent and rude CS (who would hang up on you after not being able to solve issue) and an IRA operation team who claimed they can’t speak to customers coz they are a back office.

After 2.5 months of filling forms twice, wasting up to 3-4 days of calling and being ignored by even the senior supervisors who NEVER called back, I had no choice but to escalate this to CFPB and that’s when Huntington started listening and gave me the attention that a customer deserved and finally issued the check so I could transfer fund - all within 10 business days. That goes to show that they won’t treat you with courtesy and respect until you showed them threats and demanded for it!! RUN from this bank to save yourself some time and dead brain cells.

Buried $10/mo fee for Perks account

Huntington creates a confusing structure for their Perks checking account where if you don't meet the right combo of conditions they deduct $10 monthly from the account. This is buried deep in the terms of a bonus offer that led me to open an account, and phrased in opaque terms, suggesting an intention to conceal it as best as possible without committing outright fraud. Why tf would I continue with a bank that is comfortable deceiving its clients? No wonder there are so many 1-stars here... wish I'd checked that out earlier. Screw these people.

This review starts out about as well as…

This review starts out about as well as Huntington Bank has. I should have the option to click on stars into the negative direction!!!!!
I'm a new customer, literally 2 months in and called with a question regarding my new auto loan. Without going into specifics, I'll let you people find out for yourselves should you not take my advice in telling you to go elsewhere, but I will just say that the creature I just spoke to could not have been more rude or uncaring of my questions. I'm sure Monique wouldn't agree because that's obviously her nature from working from home all this time. I hope you see this post woman and reflect on how you talk to calm people that are calling with legitimate questions regarding their hard earned monies placed into the entablement that pays for your....?????, certainly not nitrous.

Huntington Bank put a hold on a deposited check from another bank. No one at the Bank can give a legal reason why. I have been a customer for over 30 years. I will no longer participate with this bank.

BRENDA TAYL*R has an office at the…

BRENDA TAYL*R has an office at the Huntington branch in the Elyria Ohio
Court St location.
I attempted to get assistance from this person to simply notarize documentation.
She was utterly confused and seriously uneducated in the notarization department.
I was there 30 to 45 minutes,
with my disabled relatives getting four separate documents notarized.
She left the office twice to get assistance from a bank teller then again left the office with the bank teller, calling over an additional male bank teller later, during this very uncomfortable visit.
I explained each document was separate from one another and I needed four separate notarize signature documents.
She acted as if I were trying to commit some type of fraudulent documentation immediately,
before I was even able to have a seat she stated she wouldn't be able to notarize anything for me ???
Very strange behavior, horrible visit, zero in customer service skills, uneducated and rude on every level.
She approached a bank teller to assist her in this process, bringing her from her duties as a teller into the office where my family and I were forced to wait even longer due to her incompetence, not once but twice.
Mrs. Tayl*r was unstable and uncertain to make simple decisions.
I then asked about Caregiver Banking.
She immediately replied, "I know nothing about Caregiver Banking."
I wasted my time, as well as my disabled mother & brother, visiting this location for prompt and courteous service.
Brenda Tayl*r basically mistrusted me, making me feel as if I were visiting the bank to notarize false documentation.
In conjunction with her inability to properly notarize four separate documents and notarize them, unwilling to assist myself or guide me to be added as a caregiver on my brother's account.
This was a lengthy, extremely uncomfortable experience.
This person is unfit to represent
Huntington Bank, considering she was extremely confused,
accompanied by the inability to explain or add myself as a Caregiver on my brothers account or even simply explaining or having any knowledge of Caregiver banking to me.
I understand the Caregiver banking, but it appears as if he is sharing his account with me online rather than my being a caregiver.
I was wondering if it was because he (my brother)
has a savings account rather than a checking account, and I Still Don't Know!
My mother and
I had no problem adding myself as
Caregiver on her checking account.
Nevertheless,
Brenda Tayl*r stated she knew nothing about it.
No knowledge whatsoever on Caregiver Banking.
Brenda Tayl*r should seriously consider retirement at this point.
Unacceptable behavior.

Huntington Bank is full of nothing but…

Huntington Bank is full of nothing but lies. They’re fraud. Department is no help after leaving us in the negative and thousands of dollars of debt that’s going to destroy our credit after they verified a cashiers check three times that turned out to be a fraud. They’re telling us there’s nothing they’re willing to do about it and that we are the ones that owe them money. I’ve never been so disgusted with a bank in my life. Bank tellers should not be aloud to verify checks in assure the customers that there is nothing to worry about unless they are 100% positive and taking the responsibility for it I will never bank with Huntington Bank ever again. I do not recommend them to anybody!!!!! The Marietta branch is who is responsible for this and the bank tell her Drake consequences should be done for him verifying the check three times when it was a fraud!!!

Huntington's online customer service is…

Huntington's online customer service is an absolute disgrace. 40 minutes to get from the AI bot to a human who stops responding after two messages. Went back in and got to a human who asked me my SSN and account number and still wanted to send me a paid text to verify my phone number. When I asked to speak to a manager he stopped responding. The chat feature not existing would be more helpful than the pile of crap they have now.

Choose a different bank

Choose a different bank. I've been banking with Huntington since 1988 and I believe they put AI in charge of customer service this year or something. The people in the branch can't help you, and you can't talk to a human on the phone unless you want to wait ages for a call back. And then they will fix your problem and you'll find it's not fixed and have to call back.

Thieves and criminals - avoid

These guys closed a chargeback claim in their customer's favor, despite it being a clear case of friendly fraud. Their customer lied and even with ironclad evidence to counter, they backed him up. Effectively stealing.
Absolute criminal fraudsters.

Income tax check held 5 days

I made a mobile deposit (income tax check)on 3/18/26. The put a hold on it. No problem. I got an email the next morning stating the hold was released. On 3/21/26, the check was still pending. I went to the branch and was told the check would be available on 3/25/26. I the received a letter in the mail today (3/23/26) stating the hold on my check should be released on 3/20/26. I call customer service and spoke to a young man, I was told the same mess about the check being released 3/25. I asked to speak to supervisor and was put back in phone que.. I was on hold for an hour. I got a young lady who was very nice. She was from the hold department. She reviewed account and put a request in to release hold early. She got denied. This is not a good experience. I'm really disappointed. The customer retention is baaaad. What is the reason to hold an Income tax check????

Never Do Business with Huntington National Bank

Thank God I’m finally done with Huntington National Bank! It has been a nightmare. I’ve never worked with any organization that was this incompetent to follow a sequence of events. The right hand has no idea what the left is doing. I eventually had to get everything in writing since they were incapable of continuity.

Synapses:
A guy in Detroit sent $53700 to the loan account to purchase my 23 Camaro SS. I received a confirmation email. The next day I called to confirm the email and received a confirmation number. 6 days after delivery I receive an email that the payment was reversed. How they reverse it, no one knows.

I got a police report and started the insurance process. A Huntington rep said that they would pause payments until insurances could payout. Huntington sent the GAP provider a payoff letter which cancelled the policy. That was a pain to get reinstated.
Then I get a late payment email. A rep said that they’d correct it. Then I get another one. I couldn’t get a supervisor on the phone.

After a complaint with the BBB, a customer advocate calls. She investigates, confirms the payment pause, and all looks like it’s going to be smooth sailing. Nope, she sends me a letter acting like our phone conversations never happened. I take a 174 point credit hit for delinquent payments. That was after Progressive and Protective Asset Protection (GAP) paid out.

Another month of back and forth, and a lawyer friend coaching me, I receive another letter, again taking no accountability.

Today they called to let me know the balance was $0, but I owed interest accrued during all that BS. I offered to pay over the phone if I could get that convo in writing. They refused.

I took off work and drove to the nearest branch in Florence to pay it all off just to be done with them…and of course to get it in writing.

Never ever do business with Huntington National Bank.

I want to leave negative

I want to leave negative. Over 5 years ago I had a TFC bank account with my son. It was a student account. When they where bought by Huntington I was told he needed to upgrade his account because he would now be over 18. We decided not to open another joint account. He opened his own. Fwd to today and I got a collection letter in the mail for an account he has that they are saying I am on. I never approved an account with them. I now have to take time off work to speak to a supervisor because they are to busy at 8:20 am when they opened at 8am.

Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service

Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service.

I signed up for a business bank account. I am a private practice therapist doing 100% telehealth work, so I applied for my LLC under a registered agent, which provides a physical address for mailing purposes only.

When signing up for the business bank account, I was prompted to enter the physical address of *where I see clients* that ISN’T my home address, so I provided the address of my office, which of course is different than the physical address for mailing purposes only.

My account was flagged for “inaccurate information” and I received an email saying someone would reach out to me. Three days later, still no one had reached out, so I called in.

I spoke to a guy named William that had a monotone voice with just enough sass to sound as though he was bored and having a bad day, and his tone with me was completely condescending from the beginning. He proceeded to tell me I had to go into a branch to upload the necessary documents. I explained that the nearest branch to me is 3.5 hours away, and asked why I couldn’t just upload the documents - as I had when I signed up for the bank account. He proceeded to put my on hold for TWENTY MINUTES only to come back and tell me that he “spoke to multiple other people that all said the same thing” which is that I need to go into a branch.

I asked him to please help me make sense of how it’s possible to upload all the documents to create the account, but to correct an error requires going into a physical location. He responded “I don’t know how I’m supposed to make that make sense for you” with a sneering tone. I asked to speak with a manager - he said he IS the manager!

I wish I woulda looked up the poor reviews prior to setting up my account.

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, and William needs to be fired. What a jerk.

Terrible Customer Service

I needed to get some information to open an online account after opening a checking account with Huntington Bank. On 03/10/2026, I called to retrieve an account number, but the new automated phone system required the account number before I could speak to a rep. On this day a rep called me back on time, but when I told her that I could not give her an account number because I did not know it, either she hung up on me because her shift was within 30 minutes of being over, or the call dropped, which has never happened on my end before. I waited until the following day to call back and went through the automated callback system twice. Neither time did I receive a callback.

One of the worst experiences I've had…

One of the worst experiences I've had with any business. I bought a vehicle through Ford and they financed it through Huntington Bank. All I want to do is find out how to make payments. I've spent two hours trying to reach a real person and can't. This is a terrible business that should be avoided at all costs.
