Inadequate at all levels.

I attended a reception on Monday.22nd.Oct.25. The room we were given was stifling, the AC obviously not functioning. A request for fans could not be met. The food was mediocre. The beverages table poorly laid out, with inadequate hot water for the thirty plus guests. Insufficient tea bags. No milk, had to request this. Had to request napkins, plates and cutlery, which took their time coming to us. Given the high charges we paid, the service was very poor. I would not recommend this venue at all.

Faulty Towers

There was a total lack of staff. On a Friday afternoon there was only one receptionist and it took 1hr 20 minutes late to get into the room as it hadn't been made up. This not acceptable, particularly dealing with elderly people. My room with my mother was not made up correctly as it was made up a a king bed. I don't sleep with my mother and considering the night was complementary you would have thought such small detail would have been checked. By the time it was made up it was after 1700h so too late for a sleep and I have a terminal illness. No normal tea bags in my Auntys room so had to chase around to get that sorted. Christmas in July was disappointing all round with no christmas carols, no joviality, no character or atmosphere. Kids arrived over the next few days dressed for the part only to be disappointed with what they saw. No santa with the ho ho ho, no pressies under the tree. We did not stay long in the Bellgravia room as it was only lukewarm and there are only so many people that can huddle in front of the fire. Not that we wanted to stay anyway with the curt bar staff. Next morning our names were not on the list for breakfast so we had to wait to sort that out. Went to make a cuppa and no hot water so had to wait for the urn to be taken away. Mum and my aunty had to wait to get plates from the kitchen along with a few others Rang Marcus previously to ensure that there was not a set menu for the Wintergarden for dinner on the Friday night and was assured there was not and we could order off the menu. I was shocked when we sat down to dine that there was a set menu for $89 ---ouch, particularly as I was shouting that night. Too late to go anywhere else. The menu was nothing but a rip off. Three scallops for the entree let alone basically nothing on the plate for main course. We went hungry that night. I did raise this with Adam but not any apology. $270 for meals worth about $40. Ripped off. The saving grace was the wonderful tour that Danny conducted. It was excellent. Thankyou very much Danny. Considering this was the second attempt after all the stuff ups last stay we will certainly never ever return.

Paid a lot of $ to stay 2 nights for Hubby's Birthday.
Garden view room 217. Actually a view of the car park and freeway. Very dusty room. Showed reception photos and video of dust flying around the room. Was told Management will be informed and they will contact me by phone to discuss. No phone call. Spoke again to reception the next day and they apologised for not calling and again assured me Manager would call. So far it has been 10 days since we checked out with no contact at all. Very expensive and disappointing weekend. Would not go back.

We stayed at the Hydro Magestic for a special occasion, I was expecting our room to be what we paid for, Heritage Art Deco. We were so disappointed to find just 2 Art Deco items in our room, the bathroom door knob & 1 wall sconce, that is what they call Heritage Art Deco, so disappointing. There was dirty marks on the wall, a piece of paper on the floor, but most annoying was the table under the tv, it was damaged & held together with sticky tape !! The window was dirty
& there was a black hair in the shower stall. So disappointing, the money we paid was exorbitant for a low budget room.Bitterly DISSAPOINTED. This was a very special occasion for us & such a letdown & waste of money for us.A great letdown to be honest.

Just stay away from rooms 214 215 216 217, they are all too close to a buzzing noise 24/7, could be some kind of power transformer or similar, probably providing power to their on site rechargers for a Tesla or Audi :-(

Plus, having people queuing up to check in/out RIGHT where you are supposed to be enjoying your breakfast is just weird. Some much space and no place to put a reception ??
