I had a pleasant journey, my problems started when my luggage was not transfered to my connecting flight. I had two weeks without my possesions. When it arrived, my suitcase was filthy. I was offered... See more

Very pleased
We had long haul return flights booked but unfortunately due to illness we haven't been able to go. Provided supporting documents to Iberia and no fuss, no delays, the same day we contacted them they replied to say full refund to be given. In an ever increasing time of big corporate greed, very thankful.
Avoid like the plague
Yet again our luggage failed to survive transit in Madrid. I have to say it was everyone and all luggage that was supposed to make the transit from Heathrow to Buenos Aires via Madrid on 27th November.
As we were taking an Antarctic cruise being without our clothing was quite a problem.
We reported this on arrival and were categorically told that the luggage was on the next flight and in the air to BA. THIS WAS A LIE.
It wasn't and 3 days later was still in Madrid. By the time they found it and sent it to Buenos Aires it was the 1st December and we were in Antarctica.
We had no choice but to purchase replacement clothing when we arrived in Ushuaia, cost £1776. I repeat we had no choice! We needed thermals, waterproofs, shoes, ordinary clothes, everything for a 10 day trip to the coldest region in the world.
So now we are a month later nearly and Iberia have decided to reimburse us less than half the costs incurred, with no explanation as to how they came up with this figure.
Second time we have flown Iberia via Madrid and the second time we have had luggage issues.
Lost child seat on the 16th of December…
Lost child seat on the 16th if December waited the necessary over 1 extra hour to be sure it's not going to arrive with a 4 year old. Opened the PIR immediately as per the Iberia website (QR) code instructions. Have received an email confirming it has been located and being sent on the 21st arriving the 22nd. Nothing happened called again on the 26th was told wait another 24/48 hours- nothing. Called on the 29th was told "its being tracked" . How can they call it tracking if they have no idea where it is??? Explained that I need to buy a carseat as it is the illegal transporting a child without one. Again apologies and more empty apologies than was told needed to wait 21 (natural days) until the 6th of January to be eligible for reimbursement but needed to call again to be explained the "procedure". No ownership, no interest further layers of "couldn't care less". Outdated policies and non existent IT background. No the baggage hotline processing information than passing on to someone who in turn try locating the once already located item in 2025 in "real time".
Absolute joke and total lack of care and understanding.
Iberia -1 star
Worst airline experience of my life
Worst airline experience of my life
My baggage never arrived, which was extra lovely considering I paid for priority baggage. This was a hiking trip to Patagonia with all my equipment lost. For six days I was not able to get a response from Iberia through email (the one correspondence I received was a notification that my personal details had been stolen in a data breach). There was no information about whether I would be reimbursed for purchased hiking equipment, only through twitter dm did I finally receive a response saying only essential items such as toiletries would be reimbursed. Whether specialist equipment counts as essential items is something not clear in Iberia terms, and no clear answer over whether I would be reimbursed or not for €1000 of new equipment was not helpful
After six days they eventually responded, asking for a description of my bag so they can search for it. I had already done so in the many emails I had sent them, and it was reassuring to know they’ve not been bothered to search for it for six days. I had been told at the help desk the day it disappeared it would turn up the next day
After putting in the claim for the expenses, Iberia excluded a number of items (“unidentifiable”). I sent photos of every items clearly explaining what they were. Two weeks and several emails later they were still sending generic responses over their policies, refusing to let me know what these unidentifiable items were
They also are still giving me a poor exchange rate on these refunds, costing me roughly €60. A price I will have to absorb for the lovely experience I’ve been having
We also spent a lot of money for a business class package with lounge access for our 4 hour layover after a 12 hour flight. We were denied entry at Madrid airport lounge as we did not have our boarding cards from our last flight, which were taken from us when boarding that flight. The staff member at the lounge asked for our email booking confirmation. After eventually finding this, she kindly ignored us, stating she doesn’t have time to look into it as she “just started her shift”. After complaining about this Iberia offered us a pathetic amount of avios points as compensation. An amount that wouldn’t cover lounge access which we paid for and were denied entry to.
No water or food on an 8 hour IB flight!
Iberia 326 from JFK to MAD - Flight was canceled then uncanceled and delayed with no communication, which meant myself and many others would miss our connection in MAD. The flight: We got NO FOOD. Not one snack, not one meal, nothing. We also got one tiny cup of water for an 8 hour flight. Abysmal service with cabin crew who ignored call lights and disappeared for the entire flight. MAD Iberia staff were extremely dismissive and unhelpful to direct me back to ticketing to rebook and try to obtain my luggage (airtag said it was in MAD and not on my missed connection). When I luckily, finally, got it back about 2 hours after landing, the lock was broken off, tossed in the luggage, and my toiletries were dumped out. Nothing of value was in the luggage for this very reason that tampering at MAD is rampant. This may be ground crew vs Iberia staff, but it was the most sour cherry on top of the worst sundae. The rebooking from MAD to VIE on Iberia also had no service at all, no water, nothing. Iberia makes the worst budget airlines look like the most stellar luxury.
Terrible experience
Terrible experience — do not fly with Iberia!
I purchased a ticket that included checked baggage, but on the return flight (operated by Iberia) I was charged €140 for bags that should have been included — despite the booking showing them as included. When I tried to resolve this with staff at check‑in, they refused to listen, refused to honor the fare I paid, and wouldn’t even let me speak to a supervisor. Afterward, customer service was unhelpful and didn’t offer a real solution. This level of service is unacceptable for an international airline. I will never fly with Iberia again and strongly recommend avoiding them.
Worst airline in the world
Worst airline in the world, they ruined my Christmas 2025. They cancelled my flight to Madrid, we were supposed depart at 12:30 and to arrive to Madrid at 14pm with 7 hours in advance for my next flight. They cancelled the flight only at 14pm, they never told us that the flight was going to be cancelled but only last minute. Then they offered a change that was leaving only at 19 and arriving at 21pm. As a consequence I lost my second flight and I couldn’t Visit my family after two years of not seeing them. For real, this is the worst worst airline ever
Avoid at all costs
Avoid at all costs! In 45 years of air travel Iberia really managed to excel itself with poor service, lost baggage and overbooking. I travelled Premium Economy and the service was dreadful and the food worse. Given a menu at meal time I was informed they only had tomato pasta. This was cold and congealed, even the replacement was no better. On arrival at Quito my luggage did not appear so I went to report it. The girl was sullen and unhelpful and could offer no other assistance other than a paper form, which she struggled to fill in. I didn't receive my luggage for 4 days and had real problems claiming from Iberia for essentials as they wanted receipts for everything and would not reimburse the cost of taxi travel as I missed my pre-arranged transfer due to delays in reporting my luggage had not arrived. On check in for my return I was informed Premium Economy was overbooked and I had been down graded. I had already checked in but they actually tore up by boarding card in front of me. I'm still waiting for a refund.
Bad Customer Service
Website was unstable so I couldn’t check in for my flight online. Some of the company’s representatives were fine especially the woman who helped me with a not so lost baggage. Unfortunately I was annoyed that I was forced to check in my carry on baggage (which at the time I forgot I had a power bank for my phone in it).
When I realized I did have my power bank it, the representatives at the gate didn’t seem to really care. Then I arrived at my destination airport (and add to my very embarrassment) I thought the airline lost my carry on.
Although I have no excuse for being rude to the staff member who located my carry on, I was annoyed that I was forced to check in my carry on bag. The representative at the departure airport indicated that the flight was full and that there would be not be enough room for all the carry on bags. The representative at the airport lied! There was approximately a dozen or so seats empty at the rear of the plane. The plane could fully accommodate my carry on.
Mad about the lie, mad that I got upset at the person helping me locate my bag, and mad because the airline made me genuinely upset.
Poor treatment of a toddler under 3 in Business Class
I flew Iberia Business Class on flight IB269 (Madrid–Rio, Dec 10) with my husband and toddler under 3, all in individual Business Class seats.
During the flight, while my toddler was playing on his flatbed (moving with 2 plush toys but without making noise), the Cabin Manager (rude from the start of the flight) made aggressive hand gestures and then yelled “THIS MEANS QUIET” at me in front of other passengers. My child was not standing, not crying, and the seatbelt sign was off.
This was deeply upsetting — particularly coming from the most senior cabin crew member and in a premium cabin. Other crew members later apologized and acknowledged the situation.
I filed a formal complaint. Iberia ignored the issue at first. I insisted that they apologize, retrain the Cabin Manager, and consider a compensation, as our flight experience was ruined and this made us upset for days while on vacation. Iberia later stated that they requested a statement from the crew and characterized the incident as a “misunderstanding,” offering no compensation for the conduct itself. This response felt dismissive given the circumstances and the seniority of the crew member involved.
Compared with Business Class experiences on airlines like Air France, KLM, or Lufthansa, both the onboard service culture and the handling of complaints felt significantly weaker. This was not the level of professionalism I expect from a premium product, especially when traveling with a young child.
Extremely Poor Service: Lost Luggage and Zero Assistance – References IB168129 and IB168100
Disastrous experience with Iberia.
My two bags (IB168129 and IB168100) were lost on December 16th and, despite repeated assurances from the airport staff and customer service, they have still not been delivered.
At the airport, I was told both bags had been located and would arrive in Miami the same evening, with guaranteed delivery on the morning of the 17th. None of this happened.
Customer service continues to provide contradictory and unreliable information, even admitting that only one bag was shipped the next day and the other “maybe” today.
It is unacceptable that an international airline manages such a situation with this level of chaos and incompetence.
Tomorrow I must board a cruise, and the delay in delivering my luggage is causing significant and immediate damage. Despite constant requests, Iberia refuses to provide a clear and binding confirmation of delivery by 12:00 PM on December 17th.
This is the worst level of inefficiency and disorganization I have ever experienced.
Avoid Iberia if you value your luggage and your peace of mind.
Very poor experience with Iberia Plus
I booked an award ticket using Avios from my Iberia Plus account for my brother-in-law, which is clearly allowed under Iberia Plus rules.
Four days after the booking was confirmed, Iberia cancelled the ticket without any prior notice. I received no email, no call, no explanation. I only realised something was wrong because the Avios were refunded to my account.
When I contacted customer service, I was told it was due to “security reasons”, but no clear explanation was provided.
Cancelling a valid booking without communication or transparency is unacceptable. This experience seriously undermines trust in the Iberia Plus program.
I am extremely disappointed with a dreadful Iberia…
I am extremely disappointed with Iberia Airlines due to the careless, arrogant, and unprofessional behavior of their staff on Flight IB 1378.
The flight departed over one hour late, putting our connecting flight at serious risk of being missed. Despite the obvious stress this caused, there were no apologies, no clear explanations, and no assistance offered to passengers with tight connections.
To make matters worse, we were forced to check in our hand luggage even after clearly explaining that it contained fragile items. This was particularly unreasonable given that the cabin was far from full, with plenty of overhead space available. Our concerns were dismissed, and the staff were demanding, inflexible, and dismissive, showing no respect for passengers or their belongings.
Overall, the attitude of the staff was cold and arrogant, demonstrating a complete lack of customer care. This experience has significantly damaged my trust in Iberia Airlines, and I will seriously reconsider flying with them unless there is a clear improvement in how passengers are treated.
I booked my long-haul flight with…
I booked my long-haul flight with Iberia, but it was operated by LEVEL, which came as an unpleasant surprise. On a 12-hour flight, no meals or drinks were included, as LEVEL follows a low-cost model.
What made this especially disappointing was the lack of clear communication during booking. Had it been explicitly stated that the flight would be operated by a low-cost carrier with no included food or beverages, I would have made a different choice. On an intercontinental flight, basic catering feels like a reasonable expectation.
While the crew was professional, the overall experience did not match the expectations of an Iberia booking. The mismatch between brand promise and actual service made the journey unnecessarily uncomfortable.
I strongly recommend that future passengers check carefully whether their Iberia flight is operated by LEVEL and be aware that food and drinks may not be included, even on very long flights.
Iberia rip off
We paid a 10% upgrade fee to have change of date flexibility. When we then tried to change the date we were charged a €150 penalty and a €300 fare change. We paid the €450 and then got a confirmation of being charged BUT they did not change return date. We have now spent hours on the phone and they have said they need to investigate over the next 72 hours even though we have the written confirmation of the upcharge and the failure to change the date. I can see from the other Trust Pilot reviews that this is standard Iberia practice.- I will wait 72 hours and then post to my 100,000 followers on Instagram
Please avoid booking at Iberia
If you only buy a ticket, and fly without having to contact Iberia consumer service, you might be fine if you don't mind stewardesses chewing gum with their mouths open. But consumer service of Iberia is probably the worst on the planet. So in overall, I would just avoid this airline in total. There are lots of other options available to fly anywhere in the world. Please don't buy at Iberia.
4 phone calls to cancel a flight
4 phone calls to cancel a flight. The first one they said they'd get back to me by email and never did. The second one they falsely claimed the airline was operated by someone else. The third they agreed to cancel it and then the line cut as they were cancelling it. Now I'm on the fourth call, fingers crossed. It's as if they do it on purpose...
Absolutely horrible experience
Absolutely horrible experience. We paid for tickets that included hand luggage, yet our bags were taken at the gate just before boarding for no valid reason. Boarding was completely chaotic, and the staff were extremely rude and unprofessional. Avoid this airline at all costs.
Terrible experience
Terrible experience. They just take you cabin bag at the gate and check it in. Not all cabin bags are suitable for check in. Damaged my bag. Never flying again. Avoid.
If I could rate this despicable company…
If I could rate this despicable company a zero I would. Absolute disgrace of an airline. Cancelled my flight without notice and then tried to pass the responsibility to another airline even though the ticket was Iberia and the payment and contract was with Iberia. The customer agent actually hung the phone up on me. How they get away with this is beyond me. Do not let this company bully you!
