Total bunch of cowboys

Total bunch of cowboys. They may have a good rate of interest on savings but can you tolerate incompetencies from members of the staff. Sadly I wrote to their CEO in relation to pathetic service from Southall and Wembley but he is totally arrogant and hasn’t bothered to reply… this is what you get from an Indian bank.

The worst bank in the world!

The worst bank in the world!! Honestly, I am struggling to link two accounts together for over a month. A job that takes less than 5 minutes in any half-decent bank. If there was no corruption in India, this bank would not have been allowed to even setup. Absolutely Con shop! Avoid at all costs.

Worst experience

Worst experience. If any body calls you and recommends you to upgrade to NRI Pro account, only upgrade if you want to and know about the charges.I was told on the call the minimum balance to be maintained in the account if i upgrade is same as before which was 10K for basic NRI account. I got MAB charges of not maintaining minimum balance of 1 lakh -charges are 590 every month (I din't check the account for few months and every month got the charges deducted) -Be ware of agents calling and giving false information to upgrade your account

Excellent Bank All Round

I rarely write reviews but am doing so after reading criticisms from other reviewers that simply don't reflect my experiences.

Although the current account I have with ICICI is not my main bank account and rarely used, on every occasion I have contacted the bank or they have contacted me I have been pleasantly surprised by the politeness, sincerity and efficiency of ther staff - which contrasts with the rudeness and/or ignorance I have experienced from employees of several high street banks in the UK over the years, including Lloyds.

Indeed, I would compare ICiCI's level of service and attentiveness to that of an old-fashioned private bank.

In the 1980s I banked with (the now defunct) ANZ Grindlays Bank and had to maintain a minimum balance of £30k for a "call" account that delivered exactly the same levels of service and professionalism as ICICI, with the only difference being that the ICICI staff treat me courteously and show genuine interest even if there's a balance of £50 in my account with the bank.

Account opening in my case was also efficient and without any issues with the bank card also being delivered quickly - and it's even comforting to learn from other reviewers how seriously the bank is taking security and anti-money laundering legislation, etc.

So my message to ICICI Bank is simple - Keep up all your good work!

opened two account one nro and one uk…

opened two account one nro and one uk account, sent their representative at home, quite impressed no filling forms just signature, next correspondence was quick and received the pack within2 weeks, also representatives were involved as they would call often to see that things were running smoothly. quite satisfied with their service, also helped me in getting my cheque books easily. Finally they helped in setting my online account and were very prompt in their dealings. Recommend them for business as they have undergone a huge change in attitude towards customer query. well done icici tower branch UK.

The worst bank ever

The worst bank ever. .y father passed away and it was an absolutely disgrace to deal with the staff there. First they wanted me to send the ORIGINAL death certificate. No other bank asked for that. After refusing they then said that I could send a scanned copy; I did that, and they simply wouldn't responded. 1 year on from my father's death, they have still not resolved the matter!

Not Happy!!

New customer and not happy. Clearly states that if balance is £500.00 and above no charge for account. Surprise they go ahead and charge me for using account even though I have met their terms and conditions.
I expect them to respond with a satisfactory response or I will take them to the financial ombudsman services

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME

This bank is a real joke.
I manage over 20 bank accounts on three different continents and never had to deal with such a level of unresponsiveness and incompetence. The RM team in London is the cherry on the cake: the longest and silliest due diligence I've ever dealt with in my entire life.
Don't waste your time with them.

Simply hopeless

Simply hopeless. They have no secure messaging system which works, often do not reply to emails. They prefer you ring a call centre at considerable expense (unless you have a calls package), and then you speak to someone with a poor command of English and give the impression they are particularly thick so they can prolong the call. I spent over £18 on calls and they still could not verify my mobile number.
Feels like they bank with you rather than the reverse. It would take ages to recoup the £18 it cost me to (NOT) sort out this account.
The log in system is simply bizarre - takes about 11 clicks and even then it goes to an introductory page, requiring a further click to see your account.
Also very slow to move money out to another account. This is a zero star review.
STEER WELL CLEAR OF THIS BANK.

I echo previous complaints This bank is a shambles

I echo previous complaints regarding Linked Accounts problems.I opened an account (Easy Access) on the 6th February 2020 and shortly after changed my Bank Account. Like others they demanded a bank statement, which I did not have due to it being a new account or a cheque book. I had to contact the new bank explain the situation and asked them to provide me a statement which they did. I POSTED this off the the ICICI office London with a covering letter. Getting no response I contacted them by email to inform them of this, also stating that I had hearing loss and that I could not contact them by phone. I received a response stating they had not received the documents by EMAIL? and if I needed further help to PHONE them?
I then on the 12th March sent another statement by post which showed the £1 authentication transaction they also wanted. I have nothing since. I sent an other email and was informed they are NOT REPLYING TO EMAILS AT THE MOMENT.. I made a formal complaint and got no response, so I got a friend to ring them for me. The call centre operator told us she did not have authority to enter my bank account and there was no-one else there who could. As a result I have now been six weeks unable to access my main funds which I need due to this current terrible Covid-19 situation in order to to provide for me and other family members who are in need of funds at this time. Other banks are pulling the stops out coping well. ICICI bank is a shambles. Looking at other reviews, it is about time someone in Authority should task the banks HQ Management to resolve all these problems immediately.
I offer my sympathies to other customers in the same situation.

UK - ICICI Savings Account

Being from the UK, I found this bank to open a savings ISA with as suggested on some websites. To give you some context, it takes up to 11 days to change the linked bank account to your ICICI account. This is now a massive regret of mine - I have since transferred all of the money to a new account with a better and more reliable bank.

DO NOT OPEN ACCOUNTS WITH THIS BANK.

Incompetent - Beware of pitfalls of an easy access account with them.,

This is necessarily long-winded, but please take note if you have an instant access account with ICICI.

Like some other banks, when opening an easy access account you have to nominate a current account from which payments in and withdrawals to are made. Unlike similar banks, however, it can be a nightmare if you wish to change the linked account to another. I requested a change online and a message appeared merely saying the changeover and new direct debit would be in place by 27th Oct. However, ICICI 'phoned the next day requesting a cheque for £1 from the new bank before the change could occur. I don't have a cheque book for that account & was eventually told they would accept a bank statement (not downloaded), not more than 3 months' old, showing my full name and address, account No and sort code. (ICICI seem to be unaware that many banks have online statements only and that not everyone needs a cheque book nowadays).

I was given a new timescale for the changeover, which would probably be later than the 27th October originally advised. I was told my original linked account had been removed, so I could not make any interim withdrawals. This, apparently, was said in error and, later in the conversation, I was assured that this linked account would be active until the changeover took place. I emailed the requested bank statement.

Then they emailed me saying THREE bank statements were required - contrary to the one requested in the 'phone call. I blew my top & told them I check statements and then throw them away and that it was totally unreasonable to expect people to provide 3 - that is even if they have paper statements at all. I pointed out that the statement provided confirmed that my name and address matched their records and that they had emailed to my registered email address and spoken to me on my registered tel No. I can't imagine what more proof they could possibly need, but obviously they do, as I know they have contacted my bank. Eventually, they said they would try to get around it and I was later told the change would be completed by 13th November. I told them I needed to make a withdrawal on 8th November, so they knew the old linked account still needed to be in place.

Today, however, when I logged on, I found it was impossible to make a withdrawal as "THERE IS NO LINKED ACCOUNT".

I appreciate that banks should take every precaution to safeguard against fraud, but this is taking security to a ridiculous level. I have another savings account which requires a linked account. If this is changed, the building society emails me and then posts a letter to say a new direct debit has been set up and to inform them if I did not make this request. ICICI should follow this example.

I can only conclude that they are totally incompetent, give wrong and conflicting information and aren't in any rush to sort out their cock-ups.

The only good thing I can say about them is that they answer the 'phone quickly.

UPDATE
To be fair, ICICI have now responded to the complaint I raised, compensated me for my inconvenience, and state that my feedback "has given us the opportunity to identify certain areas of our business that can be improved. As a direct result of your feedback, we have forwarded the details of your complaint to the relevant department with the intention that this will prevent a recurrence". Hence, I have changed this review from 1 star to 2.
