Very professional service from start to finish. Seamless process

I’ve now used Iconic Auctioneers for three auctions and have successfully purchased two cars through them — and lost out on one that went well above my ceiling.

For my first auction, I registered for telephone bidding. Iconic called me promptly before the lot went live, behaved professionally, and the process was smooth. The car I was interested in shot past its estimate and beyond my budget in under a minute, which made the decision easy.

For my second and third auctions I used online bidding from the comfort of my own living room. It was simple to register and intuitive to use, and I enjoyed watching the bids remotely without the pressure or adrenaline of being in the room. In this setting I was able to stay disciplined and not get caught up in auction fever — I hit my hard limit and won the car fairly.

During the third auction there were four cars I was considering. I was the underbidder on the first one, the third shot past estimate and out of my range, and while waiting for the fourth I received a call from Iconic to advise that the first car hadn’t reached reserve, and if I could meet the reserve it would be mine — which I gladly agreed to.

Both vehicles were accurately represented in their listings, which I credit to the honesty of the sellers rather than the auction house. As always, buyers should ideally view cars in person — I fully accept that I took a risk by not doing so with either purchase.

So if everything sounds positive, why am I leaving only 3 stars instead of 5? Unfortunately, the first car arrived with no keys — despite keys being shown in the listing photos. I was informed that Iconic would contact the seller and arrange a locksmith if necessary. This was back in August, and I’ve had no further communication since that initial call. As it stands, I have a near-£10,000 immobile car sitting on my drive: a beautiful paperweight, but a paperweight nonetheless.

I genuinely like Iconic Auctioneers — the bidding experience, the professionalism during auctions, and the systems they have in place are all commendable. But post-sale support is part of the customer experience too, and being left without resolution for months has been a real disappointment.

You have required and necessary bank details since long, and this is confirmed by an email from you. Another email advises payment will be made by 21/11 …today 27/11 still nothing!

Great experience when the auctions were at Leamington and we had costs that were reasonable. (£5 programme).
Now it’s at the NEC we are talking excessive parking costs, entrance costs, extra costs to inspect the cars and eleven quid for a burger. OK it’s the NEC and we all know that to get in you Need Extra Cash but Iconic are not as up front as they should be. Their ‘experts’ know next to nothing about the individual cars as I found out when I asked Richard about the E24 I was interested in. I was told it had an MOT and was driven to the hall so I would have no problem buying it and driving it away.
This I did on the Monday but I only got as far as the M42 ( less than a mile) when the car decided to seize up completely and come to grinding halt. Two trailers, great expense and 9 hours later, myself and my wife got home to Manchester. Should have taken 2 hours tops.
I don’t believe adequate information is given on the condition of the cars and the sales hype is exaggerated. I actually phoned up on the Sunday to confirm that the car was in a drivable condition and was told it was. OK it’s an auction and sold as seen but maybe for the price charged to actually get the cars I would expect a bit more honesty.

Car was described as having 'good history file' which constituted 4 bits of paper, only 1 of which related to any service work on the vehicle. Essentially it has no service history yet it had 3 stars for vehicle history.

Iconic Auctioneers reply below makes it seem like I am at fault, I am not. The description of the vehicle was incorrect, replacing both batteries has not fixed either engine light or alarm issues.

Picked it up and engine light was on, yet the listing made no reference to this. Engine runs rough.

Alarm goes off constantly. No new keeper slip supplier with the car.

Contacted Iconic Auctioneers and no suggestion of wanting to resolve these issues or admit any fault.

Hats off to Stacey. She helped with everything from, valuing the car, to getting best price on auction day. Went above and beyond, helpful throughout would recommend dealing with her.

The chaps, did everything they said they would. The car sold well, and the payment from them was quick, I will certainly be doing this again.

Motorcycle was accurately described giving me confidence to bid without viewing in person

No reserve known
Taking your commission straight away after finding out that the car was in Callaway in Ireland and I had to pay over1000 pounds to bring the car to Southampton. I abandoned the sale and lost by paying your commission. I will Never attend any on line auction. Good luck
