Switched to iD Mobile recently and things were fine for about a week — then out of nowhere my data became basically unusable.
I’m now getting around 2 Mbps download speeds with 3–4 bars of signal. That’s not just “a bit slow” — apps fail to load, Reddit times out, and even basic browsing struggles. Hotspot is just as bad, so it’s not a device issue.
What’s frustrating is:
- It worked normally at first, then suddenly dropped off a cliff
- I was previously with Smarty (same Three network) and had zero issues
- I’ve reset network settings, changed bands, tested multiple locations — no improvement
- Customer support is effectively unreachable (live chat won’t even load)
This isn’t just coverage — it feels like something is wrong with how iD Mobile handles data or manages connections.
A mobile network shouldn’t go from fine to unusable overnight with no explanation.
Leaving after a week.
Avoid if you rely on consistent mobile data.

Excellent value for money.
Excellent value for money but I often have issues when I ring someone when I am at home - the person on the other end either cannot hear me or misses part of the conversation. Yet when I ring from my wife's phone (on a different network) I have no such problems.

I looked to move from Lebara mobile to ID Mobile. I have been with Lebara for a number of years and I saw ID mobile had a better package on offer on U Switch. I wanted to stay with an operator that did not conduct annual price rises.
When I had my first bill come through, before I even put the sim card in, the billing information informed me that ID mobile would increase my bill annually. This is miss selling and I had been mis-sold. I phoned up talked it through, I was told I would receive a refund and thought that would be the end of it. However, about a month later, I have had ID mobile deduct £0.26 pence from my bank account.
I got on to the chat system, as this is the frustrating way customer service has gone. Spoke to a person called Bongiwe, and I could not get a refund. Given a complaints phone number which was closed.
I uploaded a screen shot of the U Switch page, showing that U mobile still advertise falsely today. Nothing.
Over 26 pence, just give the refund and be done with it. Now I will have to phone tomorrow.
Very bad company. Very bad customer service and breaking UK law with false advertising.

Double charging for a service never received discrimination against vulnerable customers
I bought a add on for turkey £20 that didn't work when landed I contacted id mobile to which I was told they fixed it still dose not work the company knows I am a vulnerable customer and have to have a connection at all times I then called the vulnerable customer line that cost me £2.50per min to which I was on the phone for 20mins to which the lady knew my vulnerability and said to wait 3 days I be back in the UK by then under consumer rights law they have broken then to top it off they changed me double for a service I have never received putting my bill unaffordable the company didn't help me 1 bit or care for customers health or wellbeing this is a breach of the equality act 2010 as well I'd mobile sort your company out and get people of the vulnerable person line who don't do nothing to rectify the issue

So bad if you actually need their help
I was with them for years and liked them, so for my sons 1st phone this seemed perfect. Except, it turns out, the customer service is ridiculously hard work if you can’t call in office hours. The live chat is a JOKE.
The new sim card never got processed for dispatch. I went on live chat. Spoke to an utterly useless bot that took me in loops around the same answers that didn’t resolve the problem. I had to ask to speak with a real person. I then got put into a holding position of the them “looking into that” twice which took 10 mins and, all in, a simple “can you send me a sim card as it has never been sent out” took nearly half an hour to resolve, with lots of sitting for 5 mins while waiting for an agent response. When they did respond one of the options suggested did not even work as I can’t go on the app to get an e sim as i’ve never had the sim card to receive the verification code needed to get onto the app!!! Utterly painful!
EDIT: a lovely guy rang the following morning, told me a new sim would be sent (and it was there when i got home) and that my 1st months bill would be waived. So a great service, however I suspect this was 100% due to this review and nothing will actually change with the live chat and many more people will be forced down this poor experience in pursuit of company efficiency at the expense of customer’s time.

Lots of people in the same situation as myself where they are being turned down over a credit check with no explanation. I am 59, lived in the same property for 38 years, I have a good credit score and have NEVER been turned down in my life yet somehow these manage it. Other people I have spoke to are the same with 100% credit rating and still getting turned down with no explanation. There's no number to call and nobody to speak to. All I can assume is that there is a deal on offer they do not want to honor so are preventing people from obtaining it. Will no doubt have some pitiful excuses but these dodgy small networks need to be more transparent.

Finally a provider that offers great upgrade deals for existing customers
Been with iD Mobile for 2 years. Never had any issues. First contract was much cheaper than all competitors. Then time came to upgrade and I was ready to try to haggle the price down for the phone I wanted, but the deal they offered was actually cheaper than any on the comparison sites and included a free laptop and earbuds! Finally a mobile provider that actually values their existing customers! Shout out to Marcus who I spoke to for his great customer service.

Great Network,affordable prices at only £10 a month! Bought the S26plus outright recently to save having a three year contract as i dont want to be locked into any further long contracts especially as i'm elderly now. I highly recommend ID Mobile with data that rolls over every month and the low prices. If you're debating whether to have ID mobile i say dont hesitate as its the best thing ive done in a long time,leaving vodafone after a previous contract ended and buying my new phone Outright and coming over to ID for a Sim Only deal. I dont know why more people dont move to ID mobile,its just as good as the big networks,has goid coverage and signal and is so much cheaper. Its far better to purchase your phone rather than be locked into a contract and then get a Sim only deal with ID.
