This is the worse company for customer assistance that I have ever had to deal with. I was flooded on July 28, 2022 and my home was destroyed I have already called three times to cancel my service and I am still being charged every month. Every time I have called I have had to leave a callback number, however when I received my callback I was still on the phone for over an hour waiting to talk to someone. And even after that time I still did not get satisfaction. Terrible company for customer service. I would not recommend them for anything.

I am very dissatisfied with Medical Guardian's Active Guardian device

I am very dissatisfied with the charging system for my device. The cradle's prongs are so short and their spring tension so weak contact with the device is not always accomplished. Just the neck cord's weight, if it is not draped in an exact position over the device, can cause contact to be lost. Although I place it in the cradle virtually every night, the device has lost ts battery charge twice this year causing my emergency persons to be falsely notified. If this happens a 3rd time I will be returning my device to you and terminating my contract! Worse, your website contact forms and phone numbers do not work.

Thanks Paul! It's comments such as this that make this all worth it for us.

We started our service five years ago when we saw a lack of real reviews on these devices and wanted to step-in and help fix that.

Again, hearing these kind of things are what keep us going and make the work worth it!

after reading the very useful information on security systems for the home one question remains before i can make a decision as to what kind of system i will choose and which provider.
if there is a power outage or a failure/interruption in the electric system will my property still be monitored and safe?

Hi Rob - The short answer to your question is "yes." Those home security providers that offer a Control Panel typically have a back-up battery up to 24 hours of battery life. However, it's 'best to confirm this feature with the home security provider you're interested in.

If you go with GetSafe, all their home security systems come preinstalled with an AT&T Cellular 3G sim card. So even if your wires are cut or if you lose your internet connection, cellular coverage will immediately kick in and GetSafe will alert you.

Hope this helps!

the information on home security …

the information on home security systems i read on the site of inhomesafetyguide i found very useful but i have a few questions. i live in a more rural area which i presume would result in a slower response time plus i am also a farmer who wants to prevent theft from livestock at the same time (have geese, ducks, horses, goats etc.). is there a way to combine protection of my loved ones with protection of my animals as well? my dogs and geese usually warn me when there is someone on my property but when i am not there it would be nice to know someone else is keeping an eye on my property through a security system. can someone give me advise please? thank you.

Hi David - You can set up a security system with cameras installed on your property that detect motion (in areas where there aren't animals so you don't detect their motion) and have it automatically notify you via a smartphone alert. The motion can also be recorded and you can view it real-time (even when it's dark).

Hope this helps!

Worry about my mom

I'm currently looking for a medical alert system for my mom. She is 70 years old and lives alone in a 2 story townhome in Baltimore, MD which isn't the safest area. I live out of state and it seems that the filter that lives there isn't available to her I'm hoping that upon fully reviewing your site it'll provide me with the information that will help meake a good choice so that I know she is safe.

as a working parent with a child that has many health problems i find reading your information on medical alert systems very informative as i feel there could be a good demand from parents who have very sick children to use such alert systems.
my wife and i both used to work as we had to as a sick child costs a lot of money. several months ago she quit her job because she felt our child needed better care and our helpful neighbours could only give our child so much attention while we would be at work. but we need the money from her job so she is going to have to go back to work and we would feel so much better if our child could use a good medical alert system where he is connected to us while we are at work but at the same time with a health care person whom he could contact if he feels something is not going right or if he needs medical attention. we would prefer one of us not working but financially that is not realistic for us but we do want our child to be safe and monitored. i hope this market will grow so more parents can communicate together on this as well

Hi Charles,

We read your review and wanted to thank you for sharing your thoughts on the need for medical alert systems for situations other than just seniors.

Have you had success finding a system that meets your needs? Our top providers offer systems that allow for monitoring, so should you be at work you can be informed should there be a problem.

I would recommend calling up any of the recommended providers on our list, as they will be able to assess your situation and recommend a solution that may fit your needs.

Also, depending on the age of your child there are cellular phones that are very simple so that children can have key contacts (parent, relatives) available to them with one push of a button.

Very helpful guide. I am currently a student. I have found the practical advice this guide serves to be unprecedented. People should be more educated on these issues, and this guide provides just that.
