I submitted my claim in August and…

I submitted my claim in August and received an email saying they would return to me within 10 days. But two months later, nothing has happened. I called them mid-October and they said they would let me know in 5 days. Five days have gone to two weeks and still nothing. I really regret buying a travel insurance from them.

Travel insurance claim

Travel insurance claim: Dreadful experience.
1. I had to cancel my Cruise because one of the passengers became very ill before the start of the cruise and was hospitalised (and subsequently passed away).

2. Claim for cancelled cruise is being handled by some company in South Africa. There is absolutely no mention of Sainsbury’s anywhere in the claim correspondence. It’s as if they want nothing to do with it.

3. The claim process is tediously slow asking for endless forms to be filled in. If you don’t provide information in the template they want it in, they reject it. They make you feel like you are trying to defraud them. There is no understanding that a person has died and that you are under a lot of stress and grieving.

I am surprised that Sainsbury’s is allowing their brand to be damaged like this. I have lodged a formal complaint and written to the CEO. No response yet.

Terrible Claims Experience.

Purchase Gold Single Trip travel for myself and three other travellers.
After a diverted flight and a 13hr wait for travel connection at a closed commercial airport only to eventually be abandoned to 'make our own way'. This lead to a night missed in the hotel, an 800 euro taxi trip and the first day ruined due to no sleep.
Sainsbury's Travel insurance have done everything they possibly can to make the claims experience terrible. I don't know if i could think of a way to make it worse.
Every time you call there is at least a 20minute wait to speak to someone.
Getting to speak to the person who actually made the decision on the claim meant a wait of nearly an hour.
When eventually I spoke to the person they were as unhelpful as anyone could possibly be, resorting to semantic word play in order to justify their rejection of the claim.
You are expected to understand the policy technicalities intricately and when asked, the claims handler refused to offer any help as to the best way to proceed with getting the expenses and compensation for lost hotel nights.
The claims department is in South Africa.
We are still in discussions with them, trying to find a way to get some compensation for the terrible start to our holiday. I do not expect a positive result.

person injury

person injury? - this means you are injured to an extend you cannot work again or engage in any work in the future. Don’t insure through these guys. The medics have no clue - will cancel your insurance. I had mine cancelled cause I was told to stay for a second operation due to risk of a dvt or blood clot - all same risks if I stayed for second surgery. Thankfully I left cause I doubt I would be walking right now.
The medical side are terrible, the legal side are better. But all in all a disappointment

Do not no believe the baggage cover...

Do not no believe the baggage claim cover. There are several term and conditions so they can weasel their way out of it.

Our jewellery was stolen out of our checked-in luggage while in being processed through an italian airport. it is not covered. I assumed this would be a straight forward claim for stolen goods. It's not covered... Like a 100 different other quite normal situations.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

Our Eurostar was cancelled due a fire 30 min before our travel time - completely out of our control. It was too late to cancel accommodation, so we lost a lot of money on that. We had the Gold tier cover and when we tried to claim that back, we were denied because that was not covered by our policy. Turns out they only cover you if you die before your trip / if you have to go to jury duty / if you are a solider, police, paramedic etc and you need to work as an emergency / if you cannot leave you home due to your home being severely damages / or if you’ve recently been made redundant at work. Unless you fall into these extremely specific categories, you are NOT covered if your mode of transport is cancelled.

Needless to say, I don’t believe it’s unreasonable to expect that your Gold Tier travel insurance covers the most basic cancellation.

Shambolic amateurs with zero customer service skills

BEWARNED

I ordered travel money today and paid online. When I collected it I was asked to insert my card and later discovered I've been billed twice.
The ensuing shambolic amateurism and blatant disregard for customer service seemed designed to cause the maximum offence.

The inability to remember even my name for 20 seconds, the lack of knowledge about anything and the frankly insulting attempt to make me wait 14 working days for a refund, all lead me to warn people to stay away. Just get a Wise card.

Oh and even when they agreed to raise a complaint and promised to email me confirmation I will get my money back in 3 days, they somehow failed to even do that.

In a nutshell they don't care, they don't know what they're doing, and customers are an inconvenience to be pushed around.

Useless Company

My luggage was lost by BA last Thursday 3rd April. I immediately filed a claim with your insurance company and submitted all required documents, information, and invoices related to my lost items. Despite this, it took over a week to receive a response. Furthermore, my calls to your company have gone unanswered.

I was recently informed via email that my claim is denied, despite having paid for coverage that should compensate up to £2,000.

As the service I paid for has not been provided, I will be initiating a chargeback for the amount paid. I do not recommend your company to anyone. Definitely 0 starts

Sincerely,
Jose

Bought single trip insurance via…

Bought single trip insurance via Moneysupermarket link. Dates changed in the process. I then cancelled using Sainsbury's online cancellation form - and got no confirmation of the cancellation. Phone lines experiencing "exceptional" loads. Chat service says it has cancelled, but as yet no evidence. Chat service also failed to provide the promised feedback box. Thoroughly unimpressed.

Home Insurance

Took out cover, cancelled within the cooling off period. Was told no problem... now 6 months later I have a DEBT COLLECTION AGENCY chasing me for money. there has been ZERO communication from sainsburys - If I owe money, I pay it, it is very simple, so to have a DCA contact me is awful. I will take this further, this is absolutely not okay.

Avoid Sainsburys Travel Insurance like the plague!

Took out holiday insurance with Sainsbury’s. While we were literally sat on the aeroplane waiting to take off our flight was cancelled to France. We already had family there waiting for us so felt we had no choice but to drive meaning we missed 2.5 days and 1 night of our 3 night/4 day holiday at Disney also incurring extra costs in fuel, hotel on route and ferry. Apparently in the small print it says this won’t be covered. What exactly do they think you take holiday insurance out for? Disgusting company, I wish I’d looked at reviews before I bought it but with it being a big company like Sainsbury’s I trusted them.
