We had an extremely disappointing…
We had an extremely disappointing experience with International Van Lines during our move from Florida to Oregon. Unfortunately, thousands of dollars worth of our belongings were damaged, lost, or never returned.
Our shipment arrived weeks later than originally promised, and when it did, many items were either broken or missing entirely — including two damaged beds, missing electronic cords and devices, a missing sleeping bags, mat, dresser mirror, cooler, and numerous other badly damaged household items that we had to end up replacing. It was shocking to see the condition of our goods after trusting a full-service moving company with everything we owned.
To make matters worse, we found all our home contents had been “on-sold” during transit, and there has been no meaningful accountability or resolution. We spent hours documenting everything through their insurance portal, only to be offered a reimbursement of approximately $165 far from what was lost and damaged.
Having moved cross-country before (and even internationally) without issue, this experience was incredibly disappointing and stressful. Based on our experience, we would not recommend using this company under any circumstances.

Waste of Money
We signed a moving contract with them to move from Phoenix AZ to a town in Maine. They have had our items for 22 days and during that time it's been incredibly hard to get ahold of them, they were unable to give us an estimation of time when we could expect our items, we got less than 24 hours notice when the driver would be arriving, and upon arrival the driver said that we would need to help unload our items since he wasn't able to get help. My partner and i both have physical limitations which is the reason why we spent six thousand dollars by this company to be moved by then. Don't recommend

Overall they got the job done
Overall they got the job done. All our stuff arrived moving from Austin, Texas to Reno, Nevada.
Pro's
Excellent communication regarding pickup and drop off.
Pickup was perfectly timed on the move out date.
Our driver was excellent in providing updates even when unforseen (truck was leaking coolant) delays happen. The movers who packed the big stuff were friendly and respectful. The people unloading were pretty friendly and respectful.
Cons.
Payment system for deposit seems sketchy. Sure they are trying to keep costs down but man it feels like low security / never see your money again. Terribly uncomfortable start to a big expensive move.
I also compared the cost of PODS versus movers. PODS qouted me $4700 (Load myself) versus $4200 if someone moved it for us. I asked PODS why do people perfer this method? Because we are flexable on delivery dates if you want to change your mind. I thought I need it there on this date for my family I might as well get the mover option. We were qouted 800 Cubic feet after a virtual walk through on the phone with $5 per cubic ft for overage for our 2 bed 2 bath apartment we lived in for 8 months. We only got the basics since we knew we'd be moving long distance soon. Seems resonable. As we got closer to our date I started to purge some bigger stuff like TV stand, other things that take up ackward amounts of space that we can buy at the destination. We also vaccum packed all of our clothing into containers saving 80% of space. No hanging pictures, no plants. At the end of the pack up we were over our original space by 25%! 800 qouted --> 1000 cubic feet actual. This translate from $4200 to $5200 bill after purging excessive items we never planned to. I can only imagine we would have went up to an additonal 200 cubic feet had we kept the original qouted items putting our bill at probably $6200. This tells me they are incentivized to under Bid you as the customer and shock you at the arrival. If we assume that it means their estimate is off by 50%. Can you imagine getting a qoute for a fence and after it's built hearing sorry it's gonna be 50% more money for my mess up. Unexceptable. 10% is resonable, 20% is pushing it. Honestly should have just went with the PODS and added movers to help with the PODS, or move it yourself.
If you do go this route just plan for 20-40% more than the qoute and you'll be good.
Oh, the people at the transfer warehouse don't care how they stack your items. We had 30 home depot same medium sized storage containers and another 35 of a large size. Did they stack the similar size? The original pick up guys did. Once it arrived at the destination it was just a mess with everything. I could count on one hand how many containers were stacked in a nice order. Pretty embrassing. I also labelled everything in particular all I cared about was the fragile containers which had multiple labels on it. Guess what, the fragile box was on the very bottom supporting everything above it touching the roof. 7+ containers = boxes.
I will say nothing was broken due to our packing efforts but I was just shocked and stressed as I saw this.
The last straw. Delivery. We took 2 weeks from the move out date to move our 7 month old and 2 dogs across the country. When did our stuff arrive? 2 weeks later than our first date available for pickup. What was the real kicker? Being in our new house for 1 week before I reached out and ask is our stuff on the way? I haven't heard anything. They said it's being loaded on the truck as we speak. Not a big deal until they said it will be 1 week before it arrives to you since we have numerous stops along the way. Wait, you mean to tell me you are able to give me 1 weeks notice before delivery but yet couldn't time is closer to the original acceptance date? We spent two weeks having to purchase doubles of things while we waited. Yes it's expected based on the original contract and if we were charged the qoute I would have agreed they kept to the contract. The fact we were terribly under bid, had to fork up extra money, and it took 2 weeks to arrive I am deeply dissappointed and would recommend PODS instead. Save yourself the stress if you are moving with a family.

IVL was such a stress relief to our move from California to NJ last month! What we thought was going to be a logistical nightmare to set up and subsequently go forward with turned out to be one of the smoothest, easy and simplified processes of the move! They were incredibly helpful, resourceful and professional. They definitely know what they are doing and I wish I could award more than just 5 stars because they were exceptional. Thank you so much from the Storey Family!
Such a big help
I was moving 2 states away and I had the stress of doing it by myself. International Van Lines took my stress. They were quick and very professional. They handled everything with care. My move was so much eaiser thanks to them
Not Sure
The sales process was excellent — very informative, responsive, and supportive throughout. I felt confident moving forward based on that experience.
The pickup process was fine overall, but unfortunately the delivery experience was far from ideal. Several items were damaged or missing, including cushions, coasters, cracked TV screens, a partially destroyed TV console, and multiple pieces of broken glassware. It’s difficult to determine whether the damage occurred during pickup, storage, or delivery. While the delivery was handled by one of their partner firms, it is ultimately IVL’s responsibility to ensure their partners meet appropriate standards.
I was also uncomfortable that the foreman asked me to sign the delivery paperwork before they had even begun unloading. That felt inappropriate given the circumstances.
If you choose to work with them, I strongly recommend purchasing third-party moving insurance with a low deductible — you may need it. Additionally, my experience with the claims team was quite unpleasant.
Overall, while the initial sales experience was strong, the execution and post-delivery support fell significantly short of expectations.
They were late, broken and lost items.
They were late, had terrible communication, my tv arrived broken because they set a mattress on top, and they forgot/lost my living room chair. The team who picked up my stuff moved quickly, and were professional, but my drop off team was the opposite.

Title: Premium Price,Tampered Packaging, and World-Class Attitude
I paid over $13,000 to International Van Lines (IVL) to ship my household goods from Florida to Dubai. Once they received full payment, communication became completely non-existent.
While my belongings were kept in IVL’s warehouse, I was repeatedly told everything was “safe.” During this period, when I called to ask for updates, every single person I spoke to was rude, dismissive, and eager to push responsibility onto someone else. The only customer service representative even hung up on me — apparently another premium feature included in the $13,000 fee.
After delivery, I discovered high-value items missing. The outer plastic box was intact, but an internal vacuum-sealed bag had been forcibly torn open, with expensive items selectively removed while cheaper ones were left behind. Another sealed bag was completely missing. This damage was not visible at delivery and could have occurred while my belongings were stored and handled in what IVL described as their “safe” facility.
If you’re considering an international move and expect professionalism, communication, or basic respect for your property after payment is made, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

Would not recommend
Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing moving experience. Many items were not wrapped at all, and others were inadequately protected. The loading and delivery felt rushed and haphazard, which resulted in lost items and noticeable damage to belongings that should have been handled with care. I expected a professional move and basic protective measures, but that standard was not met. I would not recommend this company. I feel a duty to give reviews as I’ve benefited from such over the years. I’ve given many positive reviews via Google. I reserve the unfortunate negative reviews for Trustpilot.

Misleading
Misleading, rude, unprofessional, and dodgy. This company stays on the very edge of what is legal when dealing with customers and their items. They handled our household goods unprofessionally and damaged our furniture, damaged our home, and were unprofessional when it came to timelines and payment. They may not have many poor reviews on some websites, but that might be because the fine print in their settlement contract bully's customers into agreeing not to talk about the terms if they choose to accept their payout of insurance for damaged goods. The movers were confrontational and unprofessional. When we asked for help from IVL, they were dismissive and unhelpful. When it came time for the insurance to pay out on some very large permanently damaged items due to negligence on the movers part. If you file a claim and accept a piddly payout amount for your damaged goods, you supposedly are not allowed to leave a poor review. Terrible moving company who raised their prices sky high after packing, and were unresponsive and rude when we called them about the issues.

HORRIBLE SHIPPING EXPERIENCE WITH IVL…
I would not wish my experience with IVL on anyone—it was truly a horrible experience, negative in every aspect.
Communication was poor and inconsistent: I was contacted promptly when payments were due, but otherwise left in the dark about timelines, progress, and critical updates. At one point, IVL even forgot to process and communicate a required payment, which caused additional delays and significant stress.
The packing was shockingly unprofessional for an international move. The packers arrived four hours late and took two full days to pack a two-bedroom apartment. High-value Italian design furniture was wrapped in paper only. Fragile ceramic tiles were thrown diagonally into a box with no protection. Most alarming, a two-meter marble slab—one of the most fragile items—was wrapped in paper and left unsecured in the container, outside of the strapped and protected items, free to slide around during transit. Unsurprisingly, it arrived broken into three pieces.
Organizationally, the shipment arrived months late—which can happen—but there was absolutely no proactive communication about delays, timing, or shipment progress. Reassurances given beforehand about special care and oversight were simply ignored.
When I raised concerns, the response was dismissive and unapologetic. I was even told, verbatim: “You know you are not the only client IVL has.”
I have moved and shipped overseas many times, and I have never experienced anything close to this level of negligence, disorganization, and disregard for a client’s belongings. I would never use their services again, and I strongly advise others to look elsewhere for any international move involving valuable or fragile items.
this company was amazing!
this company was amazing!! They listened to all my concerns about moving and did such a great job with their services. They were very useful, patient and very careful with my glass figures! thank you so much, will be sure to choose this company again.
We had our move scheduled from Illinois…
We had our move scheduled from Illinois to Exeter-UK. The company had us pack all our stuff on boxes, and the final cost of the move would be estimated at the port based on the final volume of the freight. We were provided with an inaccurate volume estimate to aim for based on our budget and on our initial quote. The initial quote was for 100 cft and the company suggested that we aimed for 70 cft after signing the contract. The reason for this is because the volume of the freight changes at the port after having all stuff palleted. We packed and measured every box and made sure that the total volume was under 70 cft. We the realized that at the port our stuff measured 160 cft, so the final price was $1,000 in excess of the initial cost. The company did not give us a refund, because they claimed that the freight volume estimated at the port was the final price tag. We found it to be unfair and dishonest.
