Poor communication & dishonest

It really irritates me to have to write a not so positive review about this business especially after reading what appeared to be glowing reviews from trustpilot. I had the OPPOSITE experience, including being GASLIT about his dishonesty. Note: we were thankfully refunded in the end minus shipping. But here goes…

In sum, I commissioned a shield for my organization on 12/27/25. The shield was incorrect (also a caution NOT to use an unlicensed vendor) and was mailed without sending a proof prior as I could have caught the error before he shipped. When I alerted him to this, he asked for a png of the shield and agreed to make and resend a corrected one by 1/16. Not only did he not confirm receipt of the png, he did not make a new shield, nor mail as agreed.

As 1/16 got closer with no tracking info, he ignored my messages, but miraculously replied on my due date (that it has not shipped). No apology, explanation or even a heads up that he would not make my deadline. He never intended to make and resend a new shield, yet I mailed the flawed one back (as agreed).

All he had to do was admit that he couldn’t deliver versus lie. And the former would have been just fine-that’s called communicating, transparency and having integrity. He writes me on 1/17 that he allegedly started making another shield but the timing didn’t align with my needs. How sway? Because on 1/10 he confirmed in text that the revised shield would arrive by 1/16. No option to upload the texts on trustpilot as additional proof.

Do not patronize this dishonest business. Use a licensed vendor with the proper credentials.

**Update per trustpilot’s notification of the owners response:**

Its’s really sad that this man continues to lie. Instead of owning and learning from his missteps, he continues to misinform even in this public forum. At no point did he indicate that he couldn’t make the deadline. He said, “yes” he could make it. This is in writing. He only refunded me after I asked for one. He’s lucky trust pilot doesn’t allow the uploading of photos or “receipts”. But no worries, there are plenty of additional forums where I’ll provide this cautionary warning with receipts. Stop the gaslighting sir.

Update and properly document your processes including a proofing step, and proper timeline with signoffs, and respond to customer inquiries. This is how legit businesses that do custom work operate.

*** He’s still at it folks…
Show everyone where you communicated that you couldn’t make the deadline? We’ll wait. Maybe you intended to tell me at some point that you couldn’t make it, but you didn’t at all and have NO proof. Again, I could have accepted you couldn’t do it if you TOLD me and moved on, but when you started lying and ignoring my inquiries-that became a problem for me.

Instead, what IS in writing is “yes” you could make 1/16.

** this is in response to him telling me to stop using “gaslighting” which he deleted-
For your comprehension, a form of gaslighting means you’re trying to make me believe something other than what YOU wrote-as if I’m wrong. Saying you’ll do something and not do it is the definition of a lie sir. And then try to act like you told me you couldn’t do it. You just keep digging this hole… Do better.

**in hopes he stops spinning the facts and this story:
This guy is a piece of work. He’s edited his responses further with this “once it was clear” rhetoric as if he actually communicated or the truth. Oh, and deleting the accusation that I just wanted to argue. No sir. I was trying to help you but everything took a turn when you couldn’t humble yourself, take accountability and just be honest.

Take off the table whether you allegedly told me you could make the deadline or not. The bottom line is if you’re doing custom work, the customer should see and sign off on a proof and any related timeline. The end.

And don’t get me started on registered marks, your comprehension of their importance, or your authorization to use...

Take it you never learned that the customer is always right… Be well.

Reply from In The Cut Woods

We take feedback seriously and want to clarify the situation for transparency.
This order involved a custom-made shield. After delivery, a concern was raised regarding the absence of a federal registration mark. We acknowledged the concern and discussed correction options, including updating or remaking the item upon return.
A timeline was discussed, however producing an additional custom piece prior to receiving the original item back was not feasible due to production capacity and materials. Once it became clear that the timing would not align with the customer’s needs, a refund was issued promptly, excluding shipping, which had already been incurred.
At no point was there an intent to mislead, and we regret that expectations around timing were not aligned. We remain committed to clear communication and fair resolution for all custom orders.

This was a custom order where expectations around timeline and correction options ultimately did not align. Once it became clear that the customer was no longer satisfied with the available resolution, a refund was issued promptly, excluding shipping already incurred.
We do not engage in dishonesty or misrepresentation, and we stand by our communication and resolution process. As the transaction has been refunded and closed, we will not be continuing this public exchange

Bowling Tournament Prize

The item that you made for us was very well received from eveyone that saw it. Ours was a paddle with two chapters in my local area on it. After everyone saw the paddle, both chapters tried their hardest to win the paddle. The craftsmanship was amazing and the delivery was quick! I will be sharing your contact info with others.

Vision Brought to Life

A Vision Brought to Life

In The Cut Wood, masterfully brings customer visions to life through exceptional craftsmanship and creativity. Their custom paddles are true works of art—distinctive, eye-catching, and unlike anything else out there.

They transformed my idea into a beautiful reality, exceeding every expectation. I’ve never seen a paddle quite like this one, and I’m absolutely thrilled with how it turned out. My daughter cherishes both her 5-foot legacy paddle and her 3-foot intake paddle—they’re stunning keepsakes she'll treasure for years to come.

In The Cut Wood’s passion and dedication to their craft are evident in every detail. I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone seeking meaningful, high-quality custom pieces. I’m already looking forward to ordering more in the future!
