Order hopeless courier and customer services.was due for delivery the next…
Order was due for delivery the next day, which was a Friday. Got a message to say a delay has occurred and it would be delivered next working day, ie Monday and to call customer services for more info. So I called them to see if they could deliver over the weekend (which they do offer on their website) only to be told Monday am was the best they could do. As I needed the items in the order to complete a job first thing on Monday morning I asked them to cancel the order and issue a refund. Which I was told would be done. Come Monday I’m getting messages off DX the courier telling me it would be delivered that day between 08.00 & 18.00 and this was already 10.30. Anyway after another 3 calls to customer services I think my refund will be processed and the parcel returned. But what a faff, largely caused by the hopeless DX courier and not helped by poor customer services staff at ironmongery direct. So this was my last ever order from ironmongery direct and if I learn of any potential vendor using DX for delivery I will avoid them too.

I am so sorry to hear about your recent experience with your order. This is certainly not the level of service that we expect for our customers.
I have taken a look into your order and can see that the parcel had already been collected by our courier when the delay occurred. Unfortunately, DX do not offer a weekend delivery service, which meant we were unable to reschedule the delivery for the weekend.
Whilst we do offer a weekend delivery option, this is available through our courier DPD, so it was not possible to upgrade your existing delivery once it was already in transit. I apologise if this was not explained to you at the time.
I would also like to apologise that the return process was not explained more clearly. As the parcel had already left our warehouse, we were unable to simply cancel the order. Instead, we had to submit a return to sender request with the courier, asking them not to deliver the parcel and to return it back to us.
Unfortunately, on occasion this request does not reach the driver in time, meaning a delivery attempt may still be made. In these instances, we ask that the parcel is refused so that it can be returned to us and a full refund processed. I am very sorry that this was not communicated to you, as I appreciate this only added to the frustration caused by the original delay.
I can confirm that your refund request has now been sent to our Management Team for processing, so this should be completed shortly.
I do hope that this experience will not deter you from returning to us in the future. We do very much appreciate your feedback, as it helps us to identify where we need to improve the service we provide to our customers.

really poor customer service
Last two orders have been really poor, first order was only half delivered and after chasing I was told remainder word take best part of a month. Next order placed on the 23rd of July never materialised, after chasing I was told it was delivered on the 20th, three days prior to ordering! Having pointed this isn’t possible I haven’t heard anything since. Very poor service and customer service. I’ve used for years and always been happy with turn around before. Not sure what has happened recently to change this?

I am so sorry to hear about the issues you have experienced with your last two orders. This is certainly not the level of service that we expect for our customers, particularly as you have been ordering with us for many years.
I have taken the time to look into your first order and can see that part of the order consisted of stock items, whilst the remaining items were being supplied directly from our supplier.
I can see that you contacted us to chase these outstanding items, and it was only when we contacted the supplier that we were made aware of the delay in stock availability. This is completely unacceptable, and we should have been informed of this at the time the order was placed with them.
I will be raising this with our Purchasing Team Manager as a matter of urgency so that this can be investigated further, as this level of service is not acceptable for either ourselves or our customers. I can also confirm that your request to cancel these outstanding items was processed successfully.
With regards to your second order, I am incredibly sorry for the misinformation you received and the lack of communication that followed. I have looked into this order and can see that it was delivered on the 27th July, in line with the two-day delivery service selected at checkout. I completely understand how the incorrect delivery information you were given would have caused confusion and frustration, and I sincerely apologise for this.
I do hope that these recent experiences will not deter you from returning to us in the future. We very much appreciate your feedback, and your comments help us to identify where improvements are needed so that we can provide the level of service our customers expect.
