Measuring the laptop directly indeed gives the correct size for the Skin cut because the actual surface dimension of the laptop lid usually differs slightly from the laptop dimensions quoted in online specifications. We're glad to hear that you managed to make the Skin work.
The Skin colors may differ from the Sleeve colors for the same design because the print process is different. Skins are digitally printed on cast vinyl and are ultra vibrant. The colors on a Sleeve are infused into the black neoprene material and will thus look a little different. The sleeve print is still of a high quality as it is; just don't compare with the Skin as the Skin will win.

The sizing was off a little bit
The sizing was off a little bit. Cut out for the screen was too big which made applying difficult and causing wrinkling when putting my Kobo in the clear case. Overall nice skin.

I finally received my order yesterday. I was very disappointed with my order. I was expecting a phone case and not a thin piece of plastic to apply to my phone . I think that maybe the description of the product should be explained better so that the consumer will understand what the product really does.

We are sorry to hear that you did not like the Solid State Black Xbox One X Skin set - this has a simple 5 piece flat surface Skin coverage where every piece is basically a rectangular cut (overview at https://create.istyles.com/app/?t=1689 ) and the pieces will not overlap.
As this recent order is your 2nd purchase from us, we assume that your previous order for a Patriotic Xbox 360 S Skin 7 months ago went well?
The Skin application process is similar and the Xbox One X Skin should actually be a little easier to put on because the surfaces are flat. Did you stretch the Skin pieces by accident during the application process? If stretched, the Skin will be longer than it was and this will explain the overlap.
