This is not a 4 star venue despite the false advertising. We arrived and hadn't been upgraded to the Deluxe sweet which we paid for over the phone. Whilst in the superior double swee... See more

Poor quality food for the price, staff looked jaded and like they didnt want to be there. No dressing on salad, all looked like a supermarket bought dinner. .... we ordered 6 starters.

We booked this for New Year’s Day lunch…
We booked this for New Year’s Day lunch for party of 6. When we arrived there were hundreds of people, cars everywhere difficult to park. When we booked before Christmas we was not told that every New Year’s Day The Brown Willy run takes place . Although shoes had to be left outside the toilets and entrance were very muddy. We ordered the roast dinners, which when arrived the waitress had to take them to a window to see what meat was on the plate. Everything apart from a few vegetables served separately were dumped on the plate drowning in gravy no presentation . As these meals have to be ordered and paid for at the bar, there didn’t seem much point in complaining. Had we have been presented with a bill after the meal we certainly would have challenged payment. Had we been made aware at the time of booking about the event being held we would have chose another day. Also gravy should be served separately not everyone likes their food swimming in it
A very disappointing start to the New Year
Terrible Lunch for 6
Lunch for 6. Very busy 2 ordered ham egg and chips. Both arrived with rock hard eggs and funny red coloured fatty sweaty ham. As took so long eat the chips and part of eggs. Complained and argument about quality and resolution. Spent over £120 and eventually got £14 back for two awful meals. Not good customer service.
The Inn with rustic charm
We stopped in on the way to our Cornwall destination. We ordered 2 meals and 2 drinks on a thursday evening around 6.30pm. The barman was new, and still learning so whilst amiable enough, we did have to prompt him a little through the ordering process as he looked a little flustered, but nothing of any great concern - no-one is knowledgeable about everything instantly. The food arrived promptly, was hot and suitably tasty, and reasonably priced with about right portions etc (i'm quite hungry person, so would've liked a few more chips!) The staff were friendly. The inn has lots of character, complete with mannequins and a distinct rustic charm, although we had more driving to do, so we couldn't stay longer, in other circumstances we certainly would've stayed for longer. A good spot to stop for a meal to break up the journey.

£28 for 3 SMALL pasties and 3 soft drinks!
Not happy with the Dirty
Not happy with the Dirty , split, bug infested old chopping boards the food was served on. So I wrestled with all the little pots the food was balanced in unable to enjoy it at all. Next time, " no plate, no wonga" lol
Food was good apart from being served…
Food was good apart from being served on wooden plates which having fish chips and peas was not the easiest thing to eat off . The fish was lovely but frozen chips were not the best and trying to eat the peas out of the little pot was not Good. Service was ok but could have been improved has we had a disabled person in our group and lady took us to a table miles away she really needs to take more notice of who she is serving.
TERRIBLE service
Booked a reservation for 2 people 5.30 on a Friday night. My boyfriends birthday and his first visit.
Not only was there not a table ready for us at arrival and we had to wait, we also had to wait 45 MINUTES for our drinks.
No apology from any staff, other tables were being tended to and I struggled to get the attention completely ignored,I had to leave the table and go to the staff twice to be serviced.
I understand you are low on staff but to then have my boyfriends steak cooked rare when asked for medium that really just showed us you rushed our dinner when you realised how badly we were treated, I had to ask 3 times for my boyfriend to get a coke with his dinner and he had to request a steak knife..
Had to wait half an hour after we requested the bill I was fed up approaching the staff, horrible service for a restaurant that charges so much, not worth it at all and won’t be back.
Don’t bother wasting your hard earned money here.
Great customer care.
Having just read the earlier review I felt I had to submit a review as my experience was the complete opposite. The staff who we dealt with were fantastic and so helpful and understanding. We will certainly want to make a visit in the future.
Please DO NOT EAT THE RIBS at this…
Please DO NOT EAT THE RIBS at this place. We have ordered those and the taste and smell were horrible/ by the bone was black and the taste like meat was off for sometimes!
5 of us have tried it and have enough understanding of the food to say is good or is off.
We have told that to one of the members of staff, she had called an elderly extremely rude gentleman. He comes along have not introduced himself or anything just asked what is wrong, we have told him our thoughts, don't mention that we have not eaten the food apart from trying, which was max 5% of 2 portions which cost £22 each.
He said he does not think so the food is bad in any way and said how many they sold today already, but went to speak with the chef when he gets back, he was so upset repeating that there is nothing wrong with the ribs, which we have different thoughts and we have said it already, and kindly asked to give the money for the ribs back.
Then he said - "WATCH MY LIPS NOW! YOU NOT GETTING A PENNY BACK!"
He makes us feel like deaf foreigners, as was absolutely rude and no respect whatsoever.
We are always nice and understandable customers, but when something is wrong we just expect to be heard. And at this experience, we went out starving and well upset.
Really bad experience. Which make the end of our holidays unforgettable in a bad way.
Also not the idea that they have not given the money back, but not dealing appropriately with the customers really upset us.
