Greatest teaching site by far!

I consider myself a fair intermediate player or maybe a very good beginner. After purchasing a number of learning the guitar CD's and instructional books, I was just about ready to put the guitar away because of frustration. Then I saw a site called Jamorama.... and after watching a couple of free lessons from Mark, I got the fever back. I joined for $10.00 a month and after sounding better in just three lessons, I went out and purchased a new Martin guitar and now I can't wait to get back on the computer to start learning more from Mark. Mark, tells you don't get frustrated, it's OK to make mistakes, it will come to you with practice... and he is right! I typically don't write reviews, I read them, but I don't write one, until now, and that's because I finally feel I wasn't ripped off.

Great online guitar learning site.

Mark,
I've been a member for several years, and really enjoy it. While spending 5 years in Afghanistan your site gave me the readings and learning tools that only made me better. On my down time it made me feel closer to home. Funny how things work with ones mind. Thank you.

Awsome Site For Learning rhythm Guitar!

I Signed up for the Jamoroma Program back in 2006, and It was the first online guitar lesson package I had ever tried at the time! I immediately saw great improvements in my rhythm playing, and my sense of timing. Although I continued playing guitar off and on since then, I took a pretty long break in practicing for improvement in my playing. I recently decided I wanted to dedicate more time to learning, and I immediately thought of Jamorama. When I came to the site, I saw that it appeared that a lot had changed, and there seemed to be a lot more to the site, than when I had originally signed up. When I tried guessing at my password to access the site, I had no luck, and I figured I would probably have to end up paying for access again. I decided to write to Jamorama to see if they still had my information. I figured this was a long shot being that 8 years had passed, and so much had been added to the site, that even if they did see me in the system, I would be required to pay again. I was pleasantly surprised when I received a very quick response to my email, and was provided with my login info to access the site! Even though so much content had been added, and 8 years had passed, previous paying subscribers are grandfathered in! I very rarely write reviews, but when a company shows integrity like this I feel an obligation to spread the word! If you are new to the guitar, once you learn some open chords and a few Barre Chords I strongly recommend signing up for this program! Like anything else worth learning, it will take work, but I guarantee you will see great results in your rhythm playing if you put in the time!

Stage One Done.

Originally starting with a private teacher, this seems to be putting it all together, through old fashioned work. I do play other instruments and went to college for music but still I never worked at the guitar. Hammering on the basic chords is what I needed and after 3 weeks ( finished stage one) I see a difference in my playing. This course offers constant reinforcement and it is working for me.

brilliant

I been playing guitar for 5 years since 2007....in my opinion jamorama is the best place to learn the true chords for guitar..teaches you everything on how to make a song..play along with the course... which is awesome by the way so it will be easier to learn time signatures.... and create my own music in the process... bravo jamorama ....im glad I got my moneys worth.....

Jamorama is brilliant

I have used Jamorama before, but then went off trying to learn guitar on my own. I never seemed to get anywhere, so I've come back to find Jamorama better than ever. The methods to help you learn chords and strum patterns, techniques etc. are brilliant.

Easiest way/program to learn right from the start of your guitar playing

I have used all the game type programs that do absolutely nothing for the absolute beginner. I have a friend that plays Rocksmith. He has had both versions and seems to have learned next to nothing in the couple/few years he has had them.

I bought the Jamorama program and after the first day, I knew all the beginners chords and was playing along with confidence. I had my friend (with Rocksmith) come over to play with me. First thing I asked him was "can you play me a G chord?" "No" "...a D Chord?" "No". "well what have you leaned in the YEARS with Rocksmith?" "Ummm..."

Sad that people waste money on games that claim to teach when they can't even help the complete beginner.

I highly recommend the Jamorama program to anyone looking for a easy start to their guitar playing.

Thanx very much Mark!

Great, but needs work!

Well, I really enjoyed the beginner series, but I believe there should have been more grounding in theory and technique. I grew a lot as a guitar player with Mark, but he fails to offer courses for intermediate or advanced students that go beyond workouts and speed picking. Some more material involving scales and different genres and perhaps even a transitional course between beginner and intermediate would be great. Overall, I think it is a lack of material and course work that is holding back what could be an absolutely phenomenal guitar teaching website.

Hi Christopher. Thanks for the review man. We think you've made some excellent points. We're committed to making this the best guitar lessons site around and part of our strategy to do that is that we don't stop adding well paced, high quality courses. We realise we have a lot more to teach... which, frankly, excites the hell out of us. Coming soon we have an exciting new lead guitar course and Mark is currently working on material to bridge the gap between the beginner courses and the intermediate lessons (more depth around barre chords is one example). So your comments were bang on the money. Thanks again. The input definitely helps.

I have found that my skills as a musician have increased by tenfold! i had been going to lessons for a year and a half and still only knew a few songs, but after getting Jamorama i have learned so much that it is amazing that i am the same guitarist i was two months ago. These day your lucky to only pay 20$ and hour for private lessons, but Jamorama is a 40$ one shot deal. This program is amazing you have to get it

BEST DEAL FOR THE MONEY! SAVED ENOUGH TO BUY TWO TRAVEL GUITARS!!

Hey newbies to the site, or those just looking to buy. Don't miss out on the new deal that ends Sunday! I purchased a similar deal for a lot more, so you lucky ducks are getting the ROYAL TREATMENT!

There are LOADS of cool stuff for beginners to get a strong base to build on. For intermediate to advanced players, well lots of cool stuff and tools for you AND you may be surprised at how some of the beginner stuff helps you improve your current skills!

I am NOT affiliated with this site so this is an honest and sincere plug. Had some minor sign up/sign in trouble back when I first joined and was AMAZED at the great customer service I received. So this is my little thank you to Mark and his team and a little vote of support for you fence sitters. I was sweating bullets when I plunked down my hard earned cash but don’t regret it at all.

The money I saved taking weekly private lessons, and getting nowhere fast, I put towards the purchase of a couple of cool travel guitars (one electric. one acoustic)!

Cheers, all! See you in in members section!!

Really Makes Practice Fun!!

Mark's laid back style of teaching will relax you as you learn. I've had some pretty tough instructors tell me "hey you're holding the pick all wrong", "you'll never amount to anything", "seriously that is all you have for me this week", "you need to to practice way more than just 30 minutes a day"...etc. After the last instructor like that, I got up and left the practice room handed my rented guitar back to the owner and was told "hey you have a contract on that for 90 days of rental", I told him F you and I'll never be back thanks to that instructor you have. That was over 20 years ago. Since I've always wanted to learn and play the guitar just for myself and my family, I got back into it again in 2008. However after going through this online course and that one and youtube vids, I felt like I wasn't getting anywhere. Then I ran across Jamorama. Can't wait to get home from work now and play my guitar!

No drama....with straightforward Jamorama!!!

I joined Jamorama several months ago......Mark has a laid back, thorough but pleasant method of teaching. At 57 years of age, I am really enjoying my new found interest in guitar playing. It's a pity this standard of instruction was not around 40 years ago.....I'd probably be packing them into the Albert Hall by now!!!
