Thoughtful Service and Great Delivery

I ordered some items. I received an email to say that the exact items were not in stock but they could offer me an alternative at a competitive price. They communicated thoughtfully and proactively. And then my parcel arrived the next day. Great service. I will order from them again. Special mention to Nic Phillips who was very helpful. Thank you for great service.

Pedicure….well not really!!!!

So my husband booked me a luxury pedicure which I was really looking forward to, after being a bit poorly recently. I received a call 3 hours prior to say the beautician had called in sick today so could I come half an hour earlier. This wasn’t a problem for me. But on arrival I had to wait at reception for 10 minutes, I went to see if I could find somebody but nobody about. Thankfully a lady walked by to assist, then I had the most hurried pedicure ever, even to the point my nails had just been painted so still wet & she asked me to put my shoes on as she was packing things away, hence they smudged & she had to do a make do repair job. What they should have done if they felt that short staffed was to cancel my appointment & rebook for another time. She didn't do all that she should have or what was told to my husband, basically just soaked my feet, put moisturiser on, cut the nails, filed them & painted. Definitely not worth the £35. Wasn’t even offered a glass of water!!! Very poor, very disappointing & would not recommend to anyone. Not worth it

Rubbish

Rubbish. Ordered and paid for a wax melter. Got email 4 days later saying its been cancelled as its out of stock.ridiculous in this day and age!

Very pleased - overall satisfaction great!

I’m extremely confused about the low reviews of this department store - my experience of Jarrolds (online) was highly impressive. I seen an item online and decided to call their customer service team on Monday morning at 9:30am (as soon as they opened) my call was answered within 3 rings by Sarah who was extremely pleasant and helpful over the phone. In order for Sarah to look into my query (stock related) she needed to consult her product and content team and would get back to me. To which she did this within 10 minutes. I was highly impressed that I was not waiting around for somebody to get back to me several hours later. I purchased my item online - very quick and efficient and I opted for 3-5 day shipping (no problems there). I placed my order Monday morning and my item was delivered to my home address Wednesday morning by Royal Mail - even better!! My item had been securely packed with extra inside wrapping for that added security of no damage. I could not be more happy (and grateful to Sarah) with the overall experience of the Jarrolds Team. We now plan on visiting the Jarrolds store (Norwich) within the coming weeks

10/10 for an excellent transaction

I read previous reviews before ordering my Coach handbag & was a bit dubious about placing the order, as there was a £150 saving on a £500 handbag that was currently selling at the Coach store. So I thought it was too good to be true! The bag arrived within a couple of days, was in perfect condition and just as described. Well done Jarrolds, 10/10! So happy with my purchase!

Awful company.

Awful company.
I bought 3 jars of chargrilled aubergines 510g, £4 each and £7.95 for overnight delivery. Instead I received 3 jars 330g each. I asked them to refund me for one jar but they offered me £1.20!
They agreed to me returning the items for a full refund including the postage I paid but it would have been cheaper for them to give me the £4 refund. “That’s our policy”. Petty and spiteful.

Without prejudice

I love Jarrolds!
I’m a ‘very’ regular visitor and often purchase items. I love the layout; the creativity in the displays;, and the atmosphere.
The staff on the Dior counter and Bobby Brown in particular are so friendly and helpful, as well as the lovely lady in lingerie ( who is excellent - knowledgable and very professional).
All this said, the reason I’ve put 3 stars is there is some inconsistencies which is such a shame! Several times I’ve been looking to buy shoes, and find it incredibly distracting to decide on anything, as staff are standing around having very personal conversations. They eventually ask if I need help, but it doesn’t feel very genuine.
It’s really difficult to focus on what is an expensive purchase, and for some of us - a little stressful trying to sort footwear out. A few other times, I’ve also had fairly abrupt and slightly indifferent service in other areas of the store.
Jarrolds is such a wonderful place to shop, and it is such a joy to be able to still visit an independent store, instead of a chain - a rare gem in this day and age -worth treasuring!

Order Cancelled

We run a fairly sophisticated system of stock control on the website and instore, as it is a waste of everyone’s time to advertise items which we can’t fulfil. We do use buffers on some of our e-commerce and we also have a web service call-back in the checkout to confirm that the item is still showing in store. With regards to your order, the item was sent out for picking and then again, for a second pick, but was unable to be located. Unfortunately with some departments there are occasions when items are not removed from the stock system that are faulty, or have been returned for some reason and not able to be re-sold, but again, may not been removed from our active selling stock in the correct way. Please accept my sincere apologies that this may have impacted your order. Thank you again for getting in touch and I am so sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment caused. Customer service no longer exists in the UK.

I have written several negative reviews recently and I know the companies concerned don't give a monkies!! but this one was unbelievable. The Mint Velvet gilet I ordered arrived and it was so obviously pre-owned and definitely worn and stinking of stale, cheap perfume. I have always ordered from MV directly, but Jarrolds was the only place that stocked the size I wanted. First and last time. The gilet has now been washed and taken to a charity shop as I was leaving to go on holiday and couldn't return it. Tough lesson learned.

Terrible customer service after taking my money when I hadn't even bought something!

I had £223.20 taken from my account by @jarroldnorwich independent department store and it was days before getting it back. I did not make a purchase for this amount ever!

I bought something for £145.80 but they charged me £223.20 & even though it shouldn't have been processed as a refund (because I hadn't bought anything, they'd just taken it), they began a refund process which meant I was 48 hours being down in my bank account £77.20. I had emails ignored, and was left wondering for a lot of this time but they did send me a gift of shortbread and two of the items they were giving away free with the purchase I made anyway, alongside a body cream and some perfume samples - I needed money for food and my MOT, I did explain that while the gift was nice, my money was what I needed. The manager dealing with that never replied and was too busy to talk to me when I called on 3 different occasions.

When the money eventually came back to me, they also managed to process another £223.20, taking that amount from my account for a second time. The money went to pending, which meant the funds were been taken from my available balance to sit within their banking platform. I did't have any access to it. My bank advised me Jarrolds did but they said they didn't. The bank said they would have been able to either cancel it then the money would be reversed to me, claim it (in which case they would commit fraud), or sit on it until eventually it dropped off the system & at that point be returned to me days later.

Jarrolds chose the latter option. Their MD John Adams corresponded with me to tell me I had to wait. There was no urgency from them, to be honest, I don't think they fully understood what had happened, and they definitely seemed like they didn't want to have and didn't want to take ownership of it, despite the bank assuring me it was all their end.

I explained it is the end of the month. I don't have any money left because they've wiped my account. I've been hung up on and told they will only speak to me on email because they didn't want their calls recorded (I'd told them I needed to record because they kept saying this problem was nothing to do with them and I needed record of that because I knew that wasn't true and they refused to look into it properly enough to also know it). So they won't talk on the phone, the majority of my emails go unresponded to and MD John Adams, when he did reply, didn't even remark upon the points I made about being left short through no fault of my own and yet it penalised me at their hands and how could they do this to families?

I repeatedly explained that £223.20 is a lot for any family to not have when it belongs to them, that I didn't have any other money at this point in the month & that the bank had told me it was ONLY them who could do anything.

Jarrolds seemed happy for me to have been 24 hours without my money & happy for me to potentially be another 2-5 working days without while it sats within their banking system (because of their, or their bank's error). Including the weekend this could have taken me to the following week.

Eventually, Thursday afternoon John Adams said he'd refund me the £145.80 (which makes no sense as sure I'd have that back but I'd still be down £223.20 meaning the £77.80 of my money would be back with them. I also pointed out a refund (another one - even though I'd not taken anything back) would take 2-5 working days and asked how this would help the situation. John did not reply to me. And I emailed him on the hour for the rest of the day.

So not accepting phone calls, not replying to emails and then they blocked me on social media when I started sharing this on my Instagram account (@rocknrollerbaby). It definitely felt like they were attempting to silence me while still saying they'd done nothing wrong (even after I sent them my bank statement to prove what they'd done)!

My aunt, a district judge advised me, Thursday evening, to tell them I would peacefully protest in Jarrolds store on Friday morning if it was not returned by then. I did this and though I received no reply, I did wake up Friday morning to my money being returned to me.

This was the very worst customer service I've ever experienced (and that's aaying somwthing because I've stayed at Premier Inn and been to Legoland - if you've been to either you'll know how low Jarrolds has gone - trying to find some humour). It's been worrying, upsetting and time consuming, all to fight for money which is mine and I never, ever spent with Jarrolds in Norwich.

Jarrolds have humiliated me by putting me in a position of needing to borrow in order to bridge their mistake. And they've done nothing to help. I would never shop with them again but if you do, don't use a debit card, don't do it on line and don't expect any kind of decent customer service if anything goes wrong.

Damaged Goods

We bought a stool online. The wrong model arrived from their supplier, Garden Trading, and was damaged in two places. After numerous calls and emails it was collected. Three weeks after the initial order the replacement arrived. It too was damaged. We couldn't face dealing with them further and so we have kept it. The customer service staff are very helpful but seemingly ineffective. Their supplier, Garden Trading, are useless. I would suggest to Jarrold's that they ditch GT and ensure that their staff can act to get an acceptable outcome. I won't buy from either company again.
Update: Jarrold's have now refunded about 30% of the cost of the stool and apologised for the poor service.

Waste of time and money

Paid £35 to have a gel manicure only for the gel to have chipped and then started to peel away less than 48 hours later. No good if you are getting nails done for an event. Sent an email with pictures and they have agreed to a refund

Red Lipstick

I came in for a red lipstick, and I went straight to the Dior counter, and the lady that was there was awfully busy bless her, so Shadi from the Clinque counter came to help us, and I'm such an indecisive human! But she was so thoughtful and helpful absolutely 5 stars! She helped me and my husband buy a lipstick for my mother it was just the right one 🙏🏻

Fantastic service
