This school has been such a blessing to us and our family. We would 10/10 recommend it to anyone and do. As my kid embarks on the down home stretch we have used this program through his entire high school career and it has been such a game changer compared to the school in our town.

The flexible schedule is wonderful for our family. The experience that my girls has been amazing. Their self-esteem has grown through K12. The Elementary classes are great along with help sessions. I do feel that in some of the high school classes, this past year, teachers have depended to much on IXL and not on actual classroom teaching.

Unfortunately I don't see a lot of teaching happening. They send a lot of xl assignments and during classes don't really teach they just talk about how to find assignments or other things going on. Some of the classes that works. However for classes like algebra, English, science, those things need actually time with a teacher learning. Online school is hard enough and the fact she's getting behind but I have to look everything things up and try to teach her myself. It's frustrating and not working in classes like algebra, I don't know algebra! We have had overall good experiences until this year, there seem to be more worrying about the new systems than worrying about the actually teaching content part. Frustrated!

They barely help the students out and never contact you back. I likely won't even be able to get the 10th grade classes I want because they won't even contact me back or give students the code to Naviance to even select the classes. They also won't allow you to change classes even if you're failing those said classes and unable to do the missing assignments. The class I'm currently failing assigns so many assignments I can't even keep up and they still won't let me change classes despite that. Clearly they don't want to see their students succeed or they'd actually help them out. I'll likely sign up for a different online school that will hopefully actually help the students out.

My son was ready to drop out of school when I heard about K12. After speaking with one of their counselors about the program; I talked to my son and he agreed to give it a try.
His attitude, self esteem and pride in his work showed him his worth and he enjoys being able to work at his pace. He also likes that he has teachers that HELP him when he needs it. So thankfully he is not only finishing school but also with much better grades and on time!
I highly recommend K12 to every parent who feels their child is struggling or not getting the support they need for their education. 5 million stars from a parent who feels less stress, and happy for my son.

My only complaint is it seems almost impossible to get responses from my students counselor. She is in HS and sometimes a conversation needs to happen. I understand they are busy, but maybe they need help? A better system? And we have tried the open hours with no luck

Flexibility is a plus, the ability for students to be individually assessed and skills tested for accuracy is good. My student is advanced, so this helps quite a bit. Opportunities for social interaction is good. Areas of improvement are: technical issues, clear communication from administration from staff & teachers. There have been several times I've sent an email to administration and the issue had to be escalated due to no response - unacceptable. Having the option of choosing from a list of teachers would be nice, instead of just assigning one. And if there's an issue with the teacher, give the Parent immediate resolve, no the run around, if a transfer is requested.

Easy teacher student instruction. Also, a very easy to ask questions in live classes, it’s great one on one with teachers.
