Lucy and Chloe were amazing. Both me and my daughter had a fabulous massage. Such a relaxing atmosphere.

Stayed for four nights via Shearings.
Stayed for four nights half board via Shearings.
Expected a set menu for dinner but were allowed to take anything from the main menu.
Food very good. Breakfast excellent.
Room spacious and clean.
All staff friendly and helpful.
Only downside, hence four stars, was the bathroom not great in terms of black silicone and slippy bath with shower over. We also managed to pick the one week that the spa and pool were out of commission.
Plan to stay again next year.

Be VERY careful when booking in. They took a £100 deposit and despite OVER 12 attempts to get the £100 released back to my account and numerous promises, from the Manager and reception, nearly 1 week has passed and still no refund.
I have contacted Mercure directly as well but they have totally ignored ALL my e-mails.
I can only presume that this is a standard practice with this chain of hotels?

Lovely food and helpful staff even though wedding on you could still find areas to chill and relax

We stayed a couple of nights for a wedding. The room was nice. Two double beds in a family room made it awkward for our teenagers but Lisa was quick to resolve this. Lisa was helpful and kind throughout our stay so thank you. Ramjam ran the breakfast service superbly and couldn't do enough for us, again, thank you. We were above the function room, so it was noisy the night before our event which led to bridesmaids and page boys being a little tired. Our room was clean and towels changed each day. Overall I would stay again although would not book a wedding after the experience of the brides.
AFTERNOON TEA
I booked champagne afternoon for 4 people, when booking I was advised that the Laura Ashley tea room was nolonger but that afternoon tea was being served in the lakeside restaurant which was fine by us
On arrival we were sent upstairs to eat. The service we received from Sally was amazing, she was friendly, efficient and professional. The food was excellent albeit we couldn't finish it ( suggest having some containers for people to take cakes home rather than just wrapping in foil ). The restaurant itself was a huge let down, the room was cold and clinical with no atmosphere whatsoever. there was no natural light in the room and whilst very clean it wasn't a nice environment.
Also as a mobility scooter user whotries to be as independent as possible I was unable to go to the loo on my home as to get there I had to make my way through 2 sets of doors and get in the lift to the floor below. I really feel there should be toilets available on the same level as the restaurant

I paid a significant amount of money for the spa area to be very basic and overcrowded, the restaurant service was very slow and I paid for a double room to receive two single beds pushed together. The treatments themselves were fabulous but everything else was rather basic.
This place is charming
The staff are very helpful and the venue was great. My children really liked its charm, the pool and the breakfast.
Some previous visitors said it needed updating, I disagree. Yes some areas need a little tlc but the rooms are spacious the beds are clean, warm and comfy. The breakfast was hearty and fresh (lots to choose from)
4 stars is purely because being a family arriving after 7pm it's a shame on a Friday evening the pool wasn't open a little later ( as it closes at 8pm)
Dreadful !!!!
What an expensive waste on Sunday afternoon. Order not taken properly. Took 40 mins to get tea/coffee.
Order came wrong. When we asked the staffed sighed and rolled their eyes at us. Been before and it was lovely. Rude staff. Then half way through when we eventually got the mediocre food they came and said will you pay the bill please. £114.80 for dreadful time !
Hidden Gem
Hidden Gem, really nice location and decent service for their spa day! It was difficult to get hold of someone but for me that reflects a systems and procedures problem not that staff working on the day. Staff were helpful and looked after us.
WHAT AN ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING SHAMBLES .booked this Hotel for 6 people…
I booked this Hotel for 6 people inluding rooms for The New Years Gala Dinner. What a disaster. The bathroom in one of the rooms sprang a leak and was reported at approx. 1530 and at 1900 when I went to reception had still not been sorted. The room for the Gala Dinner was very much lacking in Decoration.
The Dinner was very overcooked and had a severe lack of vegetables. Our courses were only supplied when we told them we were still waiting. The final course we are still waiting for. There was a total lack organisation and Despite speaking with reception re these issues and reception stating they would send an email to sales and the General Manager, we have still had no contact from either. There are further issues also but I cannot spend all of 2022 discussing everything.
AWFUL!! Do not go here!
Horrible place! Such bad service! The staff seemed like they couldn’t care less, clueless and rude, place dirty and dated, no apology for not being able to provide what we’d paid for and left early feeling totally let down and ripped off. Will never go here again!
What an AWFUL time we had at Kenwood…
What an AWFUL time we had at Kenwood Hall! Before we even arrived for our stay, it was impossible to get through to reception via the phone. We tried calling for 3 days before our visit at different times of the day with no luck. When the phone was finally picked up, the phone was automatically put down on us a multiple of times.
Once we did arrive, we found out that the hotel had incorrectly allocated us a room type. Asked for a ground floor garden room (for the needs of our dog) which was confirmed to then be told on arrival we are 3rd floor balcony. Asked to be moved to the correct room type, but all were fully booked up. ( a complementary meal offered which was lovely).
The room itself was spacious but very tired looking. Stained carpets, broken patio door with a lock which was falling apart and tired looking furniture. The outside balcony space was nice and private, however not fully enclosed which resulted in our dog slipping through the barrier and onto the roof descending 12 foot to the balcony below. The dog was absolutely ok and the incident was “laughed off” by the reception staff with no real concern.
Whilst having breakfast on our last morning, we were sitting in the reception dining area, where we were joined by what it seemed to be some sort of manager or boss of the hotel meeting with a woman (staff members waited hand on foot for him, unlike other guests). During the whole conversation, said person spoke derogatory of staff members who worked at the hotel (mainly the cleaners), referring to their weight and how “annoying their voices are” and he had to wear ear plugs when one of the cleaners ever spoke. He knew staff members names and kept bragging about his “£200 million business in this hotel”. We felt very uncomfortable sitting there eating our breakfast and moved.
Overall, the Kenwood Hall Hotel is a very tired hotel which needs a massive overhaul in the bedrooms and parts of the grounds. The reception and dining areas were very nice, however the rest of the hotel was old fashioned styled. Definitely not a 4 star hotel for what they offer and the price you pay.
A Hidden Gem!
Close to Sheffield city center yet completely isolated from the hustle and bustle of a city, set in the beautiful country surroundings... an absolute gem!
Wonderful views, birds chirping, water feature in a large pond at the back of the hotel. Short nature trail.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely classic and modern rooms. Food is delicious. Ample parking space. Close to local amenities.
Afternoon tea is a must!
So much better than all city based big blocked 4 to 5 stars hotel.
Simply can't go wrong with this hotel. Have stayed there repeatedly, and will continue to do so.
