Booked for my daughter birthday

Booked for my daughter birthday, but was not a good experience I had no issues with the staff as they all looked busy but was a very disorganized experience we were booked in for 12.15 and arrived at 12.05 . By the time we had got through all the security checks and air locks the waited to be seated it was 12.30 we then ordered food. All the food came out at different stages and some drinks came before some came at the end. Was just putting my last mouthful of food in and the waiter said your 1 hours is up at 1.15 exactly did not take in to account all the time we had been waiting. We emailed them just to say it was a little disorganized but have had no response

We booked the Kitty Cafe in Birmingham…

We booked the Kitty Cafe in Birmingham for my daughter’s birthday with a few of her friends. The design of the cafe is lovely. Unfortunately that’s about the only good thing. There was 7 of us in our party. For an establishment that says you have to be out in an hour, service was very slow. Three of our group had finished their food before the rest had even been given their meals. Loaded nachos were clearly just shoved in the microwave and potato wedges were still hard in the middle. When I spoke to a member staff I was told ‘nowhere brings all the food out together’. I am not usually one to write review but I was so disappointed we travelled all the way from Milton Keynes for this and on my daughter’s birthday. Absolutely not worth it.

I have more cat interaction walking down the road

Apparently there are over 20 cats in here……I’ve seen 4 and none of them are friendly! They are all tiny specimens or kittens, where are the chunky ones!!? It seems strange that they do not want any affection or tickles. I was so disappointed! Welfare charge seems a bit extortionate when you don’t really get much for your money in the first place! Food is ok. Passable. Akin to what you would get in a kids soft play area. Great idea executed poorly.

I took my daughter and Mother today and we loved it. Some beautiful cats, friendly staff and great choice of food on the menu. Such a great place with a relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely recommend to people. We will be going back very soon

A bit steep

It's great to help the charity . £7 each to enter and £6 for two cokes . While I understand its for charity a tad steep . Unsupervised screeming kids with no intervention from staff .

Great experience

We visited the cafe at Nottingham today and had a really good time. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The fun started when our order of afternoon tea arrived. The staff had warned us that the cats would be interested and they weren't wrong. We had several cats appear especially when the cream was being put on the scones. It was very entertaining and we really enjoyed it. The food was very nice and presented well. All in all a good experience and no doubt we will return.

Cats were lovely staff were friendly and did check on the cats. Obnoxious children were annoying the cats and their parents did nothing. I did hear staff tell them though very nicely when they were annoying the cats. The set up is lovely and cats were able to go into safe spaces as they needed to. Food was ok but a bit expensive for cake. Kitty cafe Nottingham.

The poor cats

The poor cats. Constantly harassed by BRAT children. It should either be adult only or the parents should control their damn children.
It's not great trying to sit their eating and having a drink with about 10 kids swarming your table bevause of one cat

Not a very good experience at all the…

Not a very good experience at all the welfare fees for adults and children were £2 difference with the adults paying more not sure why?...
Waited at least 10 minutes to be seated then another 10/15 minutes to take the order, by the time the food and drinks came out we only had 20 minutes left You only get an hour then your ushered out the door!
The drinks were ok but the food was awful. Cats were pinned in the corner by children and so weren't allowed to wonder freely. £52 not well spent. I won't be going back.

This isn’t a cat cafe. This is a place which facilitates the harassment of poor animals

I’ve never been this disgusted. None of the cats were happy and all were scared. A group of children and a man-child were going around harassing each and every cat while staff didn’t care. The group of children were doing things such as cornering cats and preventing them from getting to their “safe area” while being constantly in their face and terrorising them.

The man-child was going around with his key and key chain. He would try and play with them and if they were on the beams he would bang on the wood with the key scaring them. I saw him bang on a beam twice in-front if the cat and then once harder behind them on the wood near their tail. He also found it hilarious to bang on a step a different cat which they were on to make it hop to the next step up. I also saw him trying to corner one near his table with his family and try and grab another as it went by him.

Not one cat in the place was happy and all the ones on in the cafe around customers were terrified.

It breaks my heart and leaves my blood boiling leaving knowing that these poor cats will be going through this day after day.

The cafe have rules set out to protect these cats and at the tables have signs saying that the welfare of the cats is their top priority. Staff saw what this disgusting man and group of children were doing to the cats today and at least one staff member was in proximity to what was happening at all time yet did nothing to protect these poor animals. No warnings given to the adult, no speaking with the parents to control their children, no moving the cat to a quieter and safer place. Nothing. My partner had to intervene when a group of children were terrorising a cat in their cat bad which was backed up against the wall which their bed was attached to swiping and hissing.

This isn’t a cat cafe; this is a cat Guantanamo Bay.

Since the staff and management of this organisation clearly don’t take the care of these animals seriously, I will be reporting them to the authorities upon my return home.

Can I just say a big thank you to Lauren at the Birmingham Grand Central Branch that was very good customer service from her.Very Informative. What I was really surprised about was the drinks they were serving. Now Its rarely not a one for hot chocolate tho the hot chocolate honeycomb that I asked for tasted delicious 😋. And felt very impressed with it all. Well Done Lauren. My new stop as soon as I get into Birmingham you could say now.

Really horrendous service, harassed cats, terrible food, massively overpriced cash-grab

We have passed the cafe in Grand Central, Birmingham, many times and always said we’d go one day. Today we finally went. What a waste of time, money and energy.

I was already aware of the welfare charge so that wasn’t an issue. First we waited 10 minutes to be seated, with numerous staff just glancing at us and wandering around.

The website said there was a number of vegetarian and vegan options available - there isn’t. There was also a sign on the door saying there were no cakes at all…good job we didn’t want one then!

We ordered within 5 minutes of being seated, only a simple order: 2 glasses of juice, a cheese pizza, some nuggets and wedges.

40 minutes later, and customers who arrived after us receiving their food before us, I asked where our food was. The staff member went off to find out and came back saying “there has been a delay, it shouldn’t be too much longer, and we’ve extended your time”. I asked how much longer, as we had friends visiting from abroad on the evening and had to get back. She said “should be a couple of minutes”. It was another 20 minutes. All of the food was cold and horrifically overpriced.

The cats we did see were obviously overstimulated and doing their best to stay out of humans’ ways. My daughters patiently sat and waited to look at the ones that came nearby instead of crowding them, chasing them, teasing them like other children were doing, who were a lot older than mine, I might add.

Staff seemed to just be on autopilot. There is no form of customer service here at all considering you have to book, it’s table service, the food is expensive and you have to pay just to enter.

Really terribly thought out business model. Those cats are not content and the staff are there to just administrate the booking system and deliver food (eventually), not check on the moment-by-moment welfare of the cats.

Would never return.

Absolutely terrible food and service

Absolutely terrible food and service at the Nottingham cafe yesterday! A zero star was offered it would be used, which is so disappointing as we have been here before and totally had a different experience.

Firstly, I was asked to pay £28 for 4 people to enter (the welfare cost which I don’t have an issue with). However we had 2 under 16’s with us who were charged the adult rate of £7 not the child rate of £5, which I didn’t realise until I was home.

We ordered our food & waited 45 minutes for it (we only have a 1 hour slot!). When I ordered I asked for a jacket potato with Tuna, and when the food came out I was given a plain jacket potato with no butter, dry, and told there was no tuna! I therefore asked for some beans to be brought out, and was told there were no spare bowls so she took the potato away & it came back 10 mins later, cold and with 1 tablespoon of cold beans.

My son ordered a ciabatta at £6.95 and then chose the fillings of chicken (£1.50 extra) and lettuce and onion £2.50 extra) - a total of £10.95. What he was served with was absolutely disgraceful- 1 lettuce leaf, 3 tiny chunks of chicken and a tiny bit of onion. I complained immediately to the waitress and she said she would get the manager but no one came, so 20 minutes later I informed the waitress we weren’t eating the 2 meals and wanted a refund. (Unfortunately you have to pay for the food upon ordering). Another 10 minutes later a manager informed me that they could not refund as the system was down, but it would be done asap .
I have seen another review from the same day & a refund was eventually issued to them, so I’m now feeling that I was lied to/fobbed off to get us to leave!

I called the cafe last night to say I hadn’t received my refund and spoke to someone who said they had a lot of refunds to issue yesterday, and it would be done.

I have then called and left messages all day today, filled in the “contact us” form and no one has called me back and I have not had the refund to date.

I will be retuning to the cafe in person to get my refund, but will not be returning after that.

In terms of the cats - there were lots of small children chasing the cats with sticks, and the parents letting them disregard all the rules, all
ignored by the staff who were obviously under pressure yesterday.

We therefore attended a cafe where we saw 1 cat, ate 1 sandwich & jacket potato for a total of £64 and feel totally ripped off, aswell as lied to about the refund.

Not recommended atall! Spend your money elsewhere or donate to a cat charity!

Birmingham Cafe

I had visited Nottingham previously, which was a lovely experience. So was disappointed by my visit to Birmingham.

I absolutely agree with other reviews, there needs to be an age restriction, a really tight limit on the number of children and way more staff who don't mind telling people to leave!
Sadly parents care more about their kids entertainment than the welfare of animals.

Food was awful (again such a shame, as food at Nottingham was pretty good), we left most of it as it was just inedible.

Cats don't appear not happy, as most of them hiding and others are swiping, generally showing signs of stress.

Toilets were grim, no light and dirty.

Won't be going back to this site.

Food never arrived.

We waited more than an hour for our food to arrive. In end, we had to leave to catch a train. Plenty of cats about, but customer service needs quick fix. We spoke to 3 different staff members re our food but got nowhere.

My daughter had bought me a voucher for…

My daughter had bought me a voucher for afternoon tea for two for Mother’s Day. We have been here before and had loved it and the food previously was lovely. However we will not be returning. We encountered a very strange waitress who was clearly out of her comfort zone and didn’t like speaking to customers! She spilled my daughter’s hot chocolate everywhere but didn’t offer to wipe the table or the sides of the cup it was in. It was also full of powder that hadn’t been mixed in. We waited ages for our afternoon tea and when it finally came, it was atrocious. The sandwiches were disgusting and nobody could tell us what was in them as it wasn’t clear what the fillings were. The clotted cream was dried up and at that point we told the person behind the till that we wanted our money back. She explained that she couldn’t refund our voucher as it had been bought online but someone would contact my daughter the following week to arrange a refund. My daughter is still waiting for this and they have been rude and dismissive of the issue. Such a pity as we have supported kitty cafe but the management don’t seem to care.

Long wait time for order delivery?

I ordered an item of jewellery as a present for a friend who is unwell. When I did not arrive after a couple of weeks I emailed Kitty Cafe to ask where the item was. They told me that the order could take up to 2 months to arrive from the supplier ( in China). There is no tracking provision. No where on the their selling web site does it mention the expected long wait time for delivery? The email I received from them showed no concern for my disappointment.
I would not recommend ordering from them unless you don’t mind waiting up to 2 months for delivery. I am not convinced that the order will arrive at all? Such a shame, I have visited the Nottingham Kitty Cafe it was an amazing experience.
