Opzeggen is makkelijk via
www.knaek.nl/opzeggen.

Good concept, app could do with update
I like the concept in general, though there could be more food deals! The app lags sometimes but I don't mind too much. Customer service is helpful when things get glitchy.
be careful about using this app
at first I thought it would be a nice app to use, they offered some modest but still nice discounts at various places but when I came to a cafe and expected to use my discount that previously worked - it did not work and I had to pay 100% of the amount. Knaek team were not helpful about this at all, even though it is a fault on their end. Now the app is not working at all and they are raising a membership price. Be fr guys...
The app didn't work on my phone
The app didn't work on my phone, so I stopped using it at all. Without my knowledge my subscription was renewed and now I have to pay a huge fee, eventhough I've never used any of their services. It is the worst thing you can sign up to I don't reccomend.
Scammers
Scammers, do not subscribe they will ask for money without any notice!!!!
QUESTIONABLE AND CRUEL BUSINESS…
QUESTIONABLE AND CRUEL BUSINESS PRACTICE
I signed up with them during a student fair years ago as I simply wanted to help the staff at the stand. When asking if I needed to pay anything or WOULD need to pay anything, they said it was free and immediately took away a 'paper' that said otherwise.
I did not even receive a copy of the so-called 'contract' until 3 years later they suddenly appeared with the bill of €25 and another smaller receipt (€9..) despite me NOT having used ANY of their services in the past years. I have never opened the app. I have never used ANY of the services they provide as well (can be traced back with my number haven't even been used once for anything of this discount activity or whatever they call it). I have never get anything, like cashback or the knaek box, like never ever (can be accounted by my number not being used to claim any of these at all. i only knew about these recently when they started bombarding me with the questionable bills).
It is inhumane to try to collect money from people who do not have the means to pay and DO NOT EVER USE YOUR SERVICE. If I have used even a little bit, I would gladly pay as I know it's fair for everyone.
They basically renewed the service WITHOUT my acknowledgement, and awareness for years and suddenly threatens with bills I never used.
Their phone number is NEVER reachable (I have kept evidence of this). My email was responded late purposely as well with the latest one has been unanswered for 5 days now.
I can provide evidence for what I said. I hope to receive a reasonable response from them so that the situation is resolved. I will thus delete any negative reviews.
Otherwise I would have to reach out to school authorities to protest for a stop on these types of controversial promotions on campuses. Student associations which promote these types of behaviors should be put into questions as well whether benefits are larger than students well-being. They really have to explain themselves in front of the University Council. This would later put an alarming alert if any association allows this on campus again. I will also have to reach out to higher-up legal forces to report them about these cruel practices and protect myself. If this review is removed before any reasonable solution is provided, I will immediately reach out to the higher ups.
They are great providers
Registration for Knaek is illegitimate
Registration for Knaek is illegitimate. They unexpectedly charge you, and attempts to cancel and reach them by phone are both unsuccessful. Not recommended.
This company is a piece of trash
This company is a piece of trash. I didn't even sign up for an account and they have sent me an invoice after almost 2 years of not even knowing that I had this account. I didn't even use it and I was still charged 25 euros with the explanation that after 3 reminders I would be charged a fee if I didn't pay it. No relevant discount or anything valuable about this company. A pure scam. No way of contacting customer service by phone, rude response from their side to fix the issue, and no clear way to cancel this subscription.
Extremely annoying billing even you don't use it, terrible terrible support system.
I was somehow bound by a contract without ever using or understanding the app. This is a scam business. I believe in paying for what I use, but I haven't used Knaek even once. It's unacceptable to be charged for a service I never accessed. They keep sending me bills... told them i never used this app a single time. They said (to quote exact words): "After all, you could have used our service"...
let's be honest, if i used your service, i will pay for what i used. Based on the reviews from others, i see where all this coming from...
The customer service is unbelievable
The customer service is unbelievable. I am trying to contact them for a month and nothing. I got an email from my bank (nothing from Knaek) that the payment was not successful! Afterwards I contacted them and receive one email that I signed up and they are charging me…( I never used the app) Without any information about coming payment or anything. I want to pay them the amount but they are not answering me to any email. But fun fact they are answering to other’s emails… So it’s understandable they want to wait as long as possible so I have some other problems.
I am being charged for a service I…
I am being charged for a service I never used. I don't remember signing up for this but apparently I did years ago (no confirmation email ever gotten). No email updates on my account, just advertising emails straight into spam. They automatically charge you at the start of every year and don't send any notifications on this! They absolutely do it on purpose to silently keep charging you. I cancelled my account once I found an email in my spam and dug deep to find out I had an account (which I have never in my life logged in to). I then got a bill for outstanding fees, then a fine when I disagreed on paying for a service I never accessed (and essentially got tricked into extending, completely unaware), and then got threatened with a debt collector. I am now in contact with customer service and they are unsympathetic, not to mention the 6 separate emails I got before harassing me about the payment.
Misleading and scamming students
Misleading and scamming students
Even though I never signed up for the subscription extension, they automatically extended the same and apparently "informed" me through the newsletter from which I have unsubscribed, which they confirmed is visible in their system. In other words, they are asking for money for the service that I have never used and haven't accepted the extension that they are aware I was never informed about. Worst business strategy ever, making the money from students.
Subscription Cancellation Errors (FIXED)
EDIT: After being contacted by the Knaek team, they kindly apologized and helped me with my issue, as it was a problem with their software. So putting aside the errors, the app offers great deals for students, especially the ones for the Check app (that gives you free riding minutes) and discounts on many brands' sites. However, students should be aware that, although it's NOT a scam, you have to cancel ahead of time if you don't want to pay the fee after a year, and it can't be resolved after that time limit. Thank you to the Knaek team for their help and honesty. I give it 4 stars for the inconvenience.
ORIGINAL: I opened my account at the beginning of the academic year, and everything went well during the year—nice coupons and stuff. BUT I explicitly set reminders to cancel my subscription ahead of time so they wouldn't charge me for the new year. I did so, but apparently there were some issues on their side. I emailed them about this, and they replied after 2 weeks saying that my account would automatically shut down if I hadn't given them any payment details. However, this email was sent on July 27th, 4 days after August 1st (the payment date). On August 2nd, I receive TWO emails, saying that I have TWO outstanding payments, one of 26 and one of 27 euros. I've already emailed them 3 times about this issue because ofc my account has been closed since July 20th, and yet I've received no response.
Don't forget to end your membership || Disappointed and feeling deceived || No separate emails are sent about membership status
EDIT: In response to my complaint email and Trustpilot review, Étienne from Knaek's customer service was so kind to call and explain their perspective based on their records. Here's what they clarified:
Back in December '22, I decided to unsubscribe from their marketing emails due to the excessive [marketing] spam they were sending. As it turns out, this action not only stopped the marketing emails but also prevented important ones, like notifications about membership extensions, from being sent. While this might seem ideal at first glance, it created an issue since I missed critical updates.
During my initial year at university, they did send an email, primarily focused on new promotions for the upcoming year. As for membership and extensions, they included only a website link – possibly meeting their legal requirements. However, this year, no such email was sent because I had unsubscribed from their communications.
For essential information like this, they should send separate emails that are exempt from unsubscribing. Many websites allow you to opt out of marketing messages while still receiving crucial updates. To illustrate, my Wall Street Journal subscription began as a one-year commitment at €2 per month. I opted out of marketing materials, yet after the initial year, they consistently sent me monthly reminders before charging my credit card for the renewal.
Knaek, adopting this approach like WSJ does would greatly reduce the number of customers who feel deceived. Although I still feel unsatisfied with my experience, it appears they adhered to legal obligations, at least last year. So they’re NOT scammers like I accused them of in my original review, apologies for that, but I did leave their platform with that feeling.
Unfortunately, I am not able to avoid the additional €2 charge for this month's "usage”, and they can’t do anything about that. They also can’t deduct my accrued cashback from the €27.05 I still need to pay, since it’s all automated on their end.
Damn, what an ordeal...
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Original: During my first year of university, I was told that I wouldn't have to pay anything if I signed up for this. Yet AFTER 2 YEARS on August 1st they randomly sent me an email that my membership has been renewed and that I owed them 25 euros.
When I cancelled my membership I got a confirmation that it went through, but their payment request email suddenly said I owed them 27 euro and 5 cents?! How ridiculous! Most things you sign up for don't have this predatory way of siphoning money off you, but apparently, Knaek does!
DON'T BE FOOLED INTO SIGNING UP WITH THEM!
SCAM
SCAM. Bait students with the first year for free in a paid annual subscription. CANCEL YOUR SUBSCRIPTION IMMEDIATELY, discounts on your favourite junkfood chains will still be usable for the current year.
D I S C O U N T
Knaek is the solution which nobody expected. Once upon a day i saw 3 people jumping in the TU Delft aula asking me either i like discounts or not. As Dutch as I am i said yes of course and so my Knaek-journey started. Knaek saved me a lot of money, so i'm thankful.
Really cool discounts.
Charging me on my 'Debt' !!
Charging me on my 'Debt' !!
I have not used Kneak since I was not able to access my account in 2019. I was told my email was invalid despite still receiving emails from them. A few months ago I started being told I owed them money. Now I have apparently accrued debt on it.
I have repeatedly tried to get into contact about it and they finally got back to me today to say its my fault for not unsubscribing. However as you can read from the other reviews, unsubscribing is more difficult than it would at first appear.
Given that i have not, and have not been able to, access their service I find this very dishonest. I also opened an account at a student fair about 3 years ago, I never thought I would still be dealing with them today.
Edit: I highly recommend leaving a bad review, after not being able to contact them for days they called me straight away.
Really nice discounts
The free trial is a nice idea and the discounts are really useful and nice
