Great company for knitting and crochet supplies, such a great choice on the website and good prices too. I am super impressed with the speed of delivery from smd knitting, I ordered late afternoon and my parcel arrived the next morning, the lovely organza bag was an added bonus.

Perfection!
They had some harder to find yarns (for me, anyway. I had some -very- specific requirements for a project) and they have really competitive prices. Their sale is pretty groovy, too!
To top it all off, the shipping was super extra quick. I’m a fan. I’ll be back again and again.

I was very disappointed with customer service from SMD.
I had ordered a book which had not arrived. It was overdue by four or five days according to the dispatch email. (Or what looked like a dispatch email!)
When I emailed the company I received no reply. I was worried, and even checked that this was a legitimate company.
I was relieved to find a phone number. When I phoned, I received a recorded reply telling me that they are far too busy to answer the phone and that customers must email! Yes, I'd done that already, and no one replied. There was no option to leave a message on an answering service.
I decided to raise a PayPal dispute the following day.
Finally a response from the seller came via PayPal.
First some tracking ( that didn't work)
Then an apology from SMD but no explanation.
Later that day my book arrived.
A 24hr delivery label was on it
But it certainly did not arrive in 24hours from the dispatch email on the 2nd November. It was actually dispatched on the 7th when I had sent an email reminder!
Of course I cancelled the dispute but you can understand that I was not impressed by this company and their lack of customer contact and the way my order was processed.
It did take the pleasure out of the purchase.
I have rarely had problems with yarn and craft companies who are usually contactactable and friendly so this was a first.
I see they have many great reviews but this was not my experience.

1. Dispatch details are erroneous
2. No contact phone number supplied
3. Don't reply to emails unless via PayPal dispute

The book is nice, but I could have bought it elsewhere.The reason I chose SMD was that they promised faster delivery.

All items I needed were in stock, packaged and shipped very promptly and even came in a nice bag.

I have only just come across this website recently, but I've been very impressed with how easy the website is to use. There's a wonderful range of yarns on offer, at good prices, and after placing my order, it arrived very quickly and beautifully packaged. I will definitely be coming back for more wool!

I buy a great deal of wool and value , quality and service are paramount in my choice of retailer. SMD Knitting were by far the most value for money for and for exactly the same quantity of the same brand yarn , prices were between £2 and £4 difference , with SMD being at £4 cheaper. I had a question to ask before placing my order and when I called a delightful young lady, Kathy, gave me all the information I required and it was obvious that Kathy was a knitter herself and could discuss all my queries. Over the weekend after placing my order , I realised I needed another 2 balls of wool . I called Kathy again, and she was able to amend my order , thus saving me more money in extra postage - what a refreshing experience, to be met with such courtesy , knowledge, and customer service . I will definitely use this retailer again . There was a problem with the Royal Mail, and yet again, Kathy sought to solve my issue and try again , but luckily, the yarn was delivered today - another example of their excellent service.

Amazing service. Ordered yarn yesterday from north of Scotland and it arrived today. Will definitely use again.

Bought some wool from SMD knitting rather than my usual supplier. They sent a nice organza bag, the delivery was cheaper and they had a wider range of colours

Had a ball of a discontinued yarn which I was desperate to find more of, found a few balls on here, ordered them and they were here the next day! amazing service. the yarn balls came in a little organza bag inside the packaging bag. definitely shopping here again :D

Think I have found a new favourite knitting site. Order came quickly and correct. Good prices as well.

I've been buying from SMD knitting for a few years, and I can honestly say they're one of the best businesses I've ever dealt with. They are super efficient, always do what they say they will, provide excellent service and if you ever have to contact them are friendly and helpful. Orders usually arrive the following day, two at most. I only wish all businesses understood the value of this sort of excellence.

I've been knitting for years and to find something new in experience I've decided to order yarn from outside of the US. And it turned out just perfect. My new sweater looks amazing with yarn from baby alpaca wool and most important very cozy and soft. Will order again.

Waited over 6 weeks for another company to deliver this wool, which never came, then ordered from SMD and it arrived within 2 days of ordering!
