I used the pools for swimming laps in the Long Beach CA area. But it is very hard to swim laps. People go from the Sauna to the jacuzzi to the pool…..more like a hotel pool….never showering in betw... See more

Facilities always broken!
I joined a club very close to my home to enjoy the pool and hot tub. I am a senior citizen and not interested in any other amenities. The pool was closed from time to time and I dealt with it; however back in November both the pool and hot tub closed, as they needed new parts. Well, here it is in January and they are still waiting for parts! I tried using another club further from my home, but that didnt work out. They rent two lanes of three for the British Swimming School. So they collect my membership dollars and collect money from the School for renting the pool, so members like me cannot use it as only one lane was open and there was a line of people trying to use that one lane. I gave the other club another try this week. I went there pool was open, but hot tub broken. They are always repairing something or other. Oh, and the front desk didnt know the hot tub was broken! I was refunded one month's fee, but have not been able to use my club by my house since mid November, and the other club not near my home that I have tried, doesnt work either. When I call the other club, and ask simply when is the British Swim School going to be there so I can plan my visit, they tell me they dont know to call the School myself to find out! The only well trained and customer oriented person at this organization is the GM at my club in Pembroke Pines (John), who communicates very well, and of course cannot do anything about the part coming in. I am beyond frustrated! It is cold this winter in Florida and I basically do not have an indoor pool to swim in, although I pay each month! My suggestion if you join find out how many repairs have been done and how quickly the item has been fixed. For two months, all I hear is that are waiting for parts for the pool and hot tub. They have offered to freeze my membership, but I dont want that, I just want to swim again! I would love to hear from someone in Corporate that may give a damn!
Ft Worth Ridgemar location has been…
Ft Worth Ridgemar location has been without hot water for two weeks. Rumor is from fellow patrons that manager has it off due to costs not actual natural gas or plumbing.
Pool closed since March.
Pool closed since March. No idea why or when it will reopen.
Money Pit
I canceled my personal training and was told I wouldn't be charged. Then I was charged. Now no one answers me regarding a refund. I have tried talking to my local, a higher up whom the local said had processed it, and regular customer service. NO ONE responds. Almost $500. Gone.
Beware this Nina the manager at LA…
Beware this Nina the manager at LA FITNESS at 8555 woodbine in Markham. She just posted the cleaning position to hire. Don't go and work there. she will make you work and except you to clean the whole gym and work Saturday and Sunday too. She told me a crazy lady comes there and takes a dump at the gym and would let u clean it up. (it's digusting). My advice don't work there or apply it. U will be in hell working with that manager Nina. She will be nice to u than couple days her true colors will show. Even the staffs are back stabbers if u say anything about her or anybody they will tell the manager. Trust me its not a good idea to work there. Nina should be fired and dozen know how to run a gym. Anyone who works there won't last long cuz they will see wat she really is. just stay away. That gym is bad and needs tons of clean up. So becareful and l warn you. l just wanna help so you won't go how l went through with her. She treat me so bad that she yell at me in the gym everyone look at her. lt was awful. l never wanna see her. She is not a friendly person type. She is a snob and noisy person. So anyway don't work there it's not worth it. l warn you.
I went into LA Fitness today
I went into LA Fitness today, off of 147th in Hawthorne, CA, to dispute overcharges on my account. Absolutely no one wanted to help regarding the hundreds of dollars taken from my account. The manager on duty was no help at all and completely unprofessional.
The manager instructed me to call corporate and said she didn’t have the ability to call from her phone, so I called from my cellphone while still in the fitness club. She had no care about all the documentation I had printed out.
Of course, Sarah from corporate was also no help, stating she didn’t see any additional charges on her end and that I would need to dispute the charges with my bank. Again, Sarah was another one who didn’t care for the documents that I had to show the charges.
Don’t go to this location.
Anyone else dealing with LA Fitness overcharging?

Sales team is predatory what they tell you does not match what is in the contract.
The trainer was a poor listener and I actually lost muscle and could lift less weight after weeks of training with him.
STAY AWAY FROM LA FITNESS. (Google and you will see nothing but complaints and scam reports.)

They will do ANYTHING to get at your wallet
I was a member for a year, they have you pay a huge downpayment for an overpriced membership ($53 a month here in DFW Texas) and this surmounts to $200+ as a first downpayment!! This is for your "first and last month", tax, initiation fee, annual fee, and other hidden fees. I wanted to "pause" my membership when I travelled and they charged me $10 to pause it, and an additional $10 a month to keep it paused.
About a year later I went to cancel my membership at another LA fitness and they said I can only do it at my club, I tried doing it over the phone but they said I must show up in person, I went in person to my original club and they tried to talk me out of cancelling my membership with more unnecessary payments, I said no and when they proceeded to cancel it I was charged an additional $53. I said WHY and they said it's your last month. I told them I paid for my last month when I first joined but they act like I didn't and never bothered to refund me after convincing them back and forth. This was the same experience of my family and friends in other LA fitness clubs.
In conclusion, sales reps here will do anything to get at your wallet in the scummiest ways, and for that this company should be avoided.
Terrible customer service
The gym is dirty the service was terrible. The person who worked there insulted us but thought himself that he was very funny. This kind of service should no person offer to any customer ever. It was disgraceful. We paid for an entry but were not allowed to go in the locker room because we were not members. We had to change clothes at the toilet. We were not allowed to have showers either in the locker room so we took showers at the toilet which were simply disgusting. I recommend going to another gym if you are in Airlie or just do some cardio on the beach instead of going to La Fitness
It's Not Just A Gym
It's Not Just A Gym
The gym isn't a place to shape the body. Its a place to transform the mind.
Its teaches discipline, patience, and persistence. Its an escape from the chaos of everyday life. Whether you're angry, sad, frustrated, or anxious, when you enter the gym, all this disappears and you focus only on improving yourself. So NO, Its not just a gym. Its a sanctuary.
This is not the case with LA Fitness. You will find 80% of the TV's with CNN and FOX broadcasting nothing but politics. I asked them to show more sports channels or any motivations healthy channels to inspire us. It was declined!!
This is a very stressful environment!
The pool water is freezing and has been…
The pool water is freezing and has been for at least three months. Used to come here for the pool but not anymore. When I call to check if the pool heater is working, the answer is always: the pool temperature is 82 degrees, but when I do come to check, the water is always FREEZING!
On August 3rd
On August 10th, 2024 I worked-out at the L.A. Fitness facility at 7867 Heneska Loop, Alexandria, Virginia. After I finished my weight lifting schedule, I went up stairs to the aerobic equipment. Every stair-stepper and bicycle was taken. I waited 10 minutes for someone to vacate an exercycle. I finally got on a exercycle and began the aerobic portion of my workout while watching the Olympics on T.V. A. Zumba started five minutes into my ride. The music was so loud that I closed the door to the classroom, (for which I received the thanks from those close-by. The Zumba instructor re-opened the doors and I asked her to not keep the doors open due to the excessive volume level. She saw and heard me, but decided to ignore me. I closed the doors again. Again she re-opened the doors and propped them open. I asked her to please keep the doors closed, as most of us are trying to listen to the Olympics. She laughed in my face, propped open the doors and went back to her (all-deaf-by-now) class. Again, I closed the doors and she re-appeared and yanked my earphone from my ear canals and began to scream. I scream back at her. She reported me to the front desk, who wrote me up for interrupting a scheduled class. My wife and I are part owners of three-L.A. Fitness Gym centers in Southern California. We have never had a serious problem with "instructors" at the gyms we co-own.
You Can't Cancel - Money Pit
I was a loyal LA Fitness member for many months. There were no issues... until I decided to cancel. I tried to cancel my membership because I was about to fly to Japan for a traveling expedition for a sustained period of time. I attempted to cancel the membership in-person and was told it was cancelled. Many months later, I discovered that I was still getting billed for my membership. I requested a refund to no avail. Essentially, I lost hundreds of dollars because of an error made by LA Fitness. Luckily, I was able to finally cancel after communicating this to online support (I think - still to be determined...). I will never go back there and would encourage others to seek a different gym membership.
Perfect if You Want to be seen Naked
LAFitness says it has policy that its employees can go into the changing rooms of other genders after closing without warning. Without warning means employees do not have to announce that the club is closed using a Public Address System, and they do not have to dim the changing room lights and announce at the changing room door that they are coming in and wait for a confirmation. In other words, LAFitness authorizes its workers to enter unannounced upon naked customers who are in the changing rooms at closing. Note that some members, especially new members, may not know the hours of operation, and some members may just also lose track of time, and all would benefit from being made aware that club is closed. I pointed all this out to management, and the manager said emphatically that LAFitness will not be changing their policy on this.
So if you want to be seen naked, may be you want to do a striptease for LAFitness workers, then this is the club for you.

Still charging me for membership after I have talked to them about no longer having a membership. Horrible Business Practices!!!!
Lafitness is a terrible gym

I had a very bad experience at the San…
I had a very bad experience at the San Marcos location upon arrival. They contracted my daughter for monthly tuition but always automatically charged me for six months. The registrar had promised to take money from us monthly if needed, but he left, and no one else took responsibility. We had to dispute all charges with our bank.
Additionally, you won't believe what we saw at the Escondido location. My daughter, husband, and I went there to use the pool and hot tub. There was no supervision, and a tattooed man in boots entered the water without warning. The men's bathroom was completely muddy, and the jacuzzi water was full of foaming agents. It was so bad that my eyes burned, and my daughter and I got an infection from the pool water. I still have itching on my skin. Please be careful before registering at LA Fitness, and don't sign any document before understanding what it is. Thank you.
