We had a great stay and enjoyed the setting. The hotel beds were very comfortable and we all slept like babies during our 5 night stay. Dinner and breakfast were excellent and all the staff super friendly. The gym was huge and well equipped and the spa a real bonus.

Disappointing waste of money

Booked a spa package for myself and a friend as a treat for her. What a truly disappointing experience. This hotel may have been worthy of its awarded 4 stars at some time but it seriously needs reviewing!
Other than the two therapists who did our massages the staff were miserable. The Afternoon Tea was absolutely appalling. The scone was the only palatable sweet treat and sandwich selection pretty poor. We were there for 2 hours and had to ask for fresh tea. Water glasses on the table but no water brought. Not once asked if everything was ok. Seriously understaffed and the staff who were there could do with some proper customer service training.

Can only comment on the gym and spa facilities as we are new members.
The gym is of a good standard and generally well cared for and clean, however the wet facilities can not boast the same standard, what a shame. We have experience repetitive lack of heat in the sauna, always having to complain to staff about it, to no avail. The ladies shower are is as dirty now as it was six months ago when we joined, the grouting /sealant is black with mould and the drain smells.

Booked with my friends for one night as a treat, all our treatments were cancelled the day before, we weren’t given robes and slippers and the rooms there all really tired and need updating. Disappointing visit as really enjoyed 7 years ago.

Huge disappointment

Huge disappointment. Booked as a luxury four star weekend break, we were looking forward to a lovley stay in what promised to be a top class hotel.

I'm not sure who rated it four stars, perhaps they were confusing it with another hotel?

The building looks tired. The interior is similarly disappointing. Old and worn out, tatty paintwork, bland and underwhelming.

Looks like it needs a lick of paint. I've stayed in a B&B for a third of the price and had a better experience.

Booked two rooms, a double and a single. The single was like a cheap Blackpool B&B from the 70's with aging furniture of the same era. Bathroom was OK, but that's the only positive.

My daughter would not stay in the single room as it was too gloomy and she found it to be dark and spooky, so I swapped with her and she stayed with her mum in the double room.

The story there doesn't get any better... Dark and gloomy again. Carpet grotty with fluff on it, needed a good vacuum.

Crumbling detritus on the windowsill, fallen from the plasterwork above possibly? Again cheap old furniture.

If this is a 4 star, then the cheapest room in a travelodge is worth a minimum of 5.

Won't be coming back here.

This has to be one of the worst hotels…

This has to be one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in and whoever gave it four stars should review it. The hotel is tired and tatty. Our room had torn curtains, a hole in the floor, no shampoo in the shower/bath bottle, no valance around the bed, scuffed paint on walls and window sills. I asked at reception for an extra pillow, a feather one as the other pillows were hard, and was told the hotel did not possess feather pillows. How can a four star rated hotel have no feather pillows!? The TV screen was tiny, choice of stations very limited, and the remote did not work well. I went down late evening to have a drink in the lounge only to find they had closed the bar early and, despite my request for a drink I was flatly refused as they had closed up early due to lack of custom! The dinner menu basically offered pub meals, though what we had was cooked well. Pricey though. The jacuzzi was cold, the decor of the spa tired and the grass around the hotel unmown. I have stayed in better 3 star hotels and how they can call themselves one of Pembrokeshire’s top hotels I do not know. And the worst of it was that when I told reception staff it was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in all they did was shrug! With most hotels I have stayed in I have been sorry to leave. With Lamphey Court I can’t wait to leave. Awful!

This brings the Best Western chain into…

This brings the Best Western chain into disrepute and should not hold their franchise.
Paint flaking, dirty net curtains, hot water that you had to run for over 10 minutes to even get warm, no response to a booked dinner complaint, poor continental breakfast when fully cooked was expected, slow and dismissive staff.
I have never written such a poor review. Wonderful looking old building and extensive grounds. what more can I say

Not quite a 4 star hotel

Not quite a 4 star hotel, looked impressive on arrival however it was a bit tired. The lamp in our room was broken, there was no tv control, however the receptionist was quick to produce one, albeit with no battery cover. There were a few cobwebs in high places and in the wardrobes but the bedding and towels were clean and the bed comfortable. We did not have the evening meal as it was too expensive so can’t comment. The breakfast was very nice and the staff were lovely, pleasant and helpful. Used the pool, was very pleasant and warm enough once in.

A lovely stay at Lamphey Court Hotel

A lovely stay in the hotel in beautiful Pembrokeshire. Took advantage of their winter offer: room, breakfast and dinner with unlimited spa use. Best features: quality of beds, location, spa Elemis products, breakfast, lounge and bar facilities. Helpful staff. A more diverse food menu would be welcome. Loved it.

Not 4 start hotel or experience

First impressions for a 4 star hotel, the hotel looked nice, however that opinion soon changed on entry. The hotel is extremely old fashioned and run down, expect to carry your own bags to your room. I stayed 2 nights with friends, the first night we all stayed in a family room, 235. This room was absolutely run down. The bathroom, disgusting. The shower was so weak, my friend had to use the shower in the spa area. The bathroom had a funny smell to it. We should have argued the price of room on checkout, it absolutely was not worth the money we payed, (you can also hear your room neighbours, I didnt sleep well at all).
The second night, we had separate rooms booked. Our room ,27, was better looking than the one we stayed in the night before, however you can clearly hear upstairs neighbours walk around and talk, I don't even get that level of clarity in the upstairs of my house!! Unfortunately for us, a new born baby stayed upstairs, we heard it cry all night and the parents walk around. The hotel should cater for this in that maybe parents with babies stay on the ground floors, as this completely disturbed my sleep. We didn't sleep well at all for 2 nights, the shower in this room was much better however, our friend who stayed in her own room had peanuts on the floor, not from her, and a stain on the pillow. We were not able to get a massage etc as no booking room, although if that compares to their pool area, I'm glad. This hotel is supposed to be relaxing, we visited the pool, where a family of teenagers were canon balling in the pool, being loud etc etc splashing peoples loungers at the side of the pool, yes the father was just as bad with no care. No-one from the hotel staff said anything. The hotel should really have a pool for children and a separate pool for adults, not sure how it can be relaxing with children in there! The jacuzzi area is dirty and cold, the pool was also cold.
On our final day we decided to have breakfast at the hotel, we walked in sat down, and once ordered tea etc, told someone would come take our orders. We waited for over half hour for this. 3 tables, who arrived after us, all had their orderes taken first. I politely asked a young girl if we could order, she said she would get someone. An older lady came to to our table, and very rude she was. She interrupted us and said "I am serving this table, then I will serve you", we couldn't believe her attitude! Absolutely no need for it. The breakfast however was average.
After breakfast, we checked out. My friend, who's birthday it was, decided to complain to reception staff about the service we encountered at breakfast, although I'm sure nothing will be done about it. While at breakfast, 3 lots of guests checking out all raised complaints about various parts of their stay, we were able to relate to each of those complaints.
I will steer clear of this hotel in future, and suggest you do the same. It is not an enjoyable stay.
Absolutely not a 4 star hotel or 4 star experience, complete sham, rude staff, and dirty rooms and pool area.

Best Western Lamphey Court Hotel & Spa.

Best Western Lamphey Court Hotel & Spa.

This review needs to be written to let customers be aware of booking a Spa day here. I was not going to write this review as not every stay can be perfect, but i allways feel that where ever your stay, if there is a problem then management should be dependable in resolving any issues and accomadate you in some way. After all you are spending good money to stay there and customers should be valued 🙌. Unfortunately this was not the case.

It was my partners 35th birthday and I wanted to book a lovely Hotel stay and Spa day for us both. I usually book the Celtic Manor in Newport for this kind of thing as the Spa there is allways lovely 👌. On this occasion i decided to book a stay in the Lamphey hotel near the Tenby area as the Spa looked verry nice and it was close to the town and beaches ⛱.

Before arriving i pre booked the Spa for 5pm. When checking in to the Spa the first thing we wanted to do was use the jacuzzi, as standard for a Spa day. We couldn't help but notice that nobody was using the jacuzzi?
We got into the jacuzzi and it was like jumping into the kids paddling pool that you fill up in the garden. There was no temperature to the water, basically just a cold bath with bubbles 😒.

There was an elderly lady waiting to get in so we quickly jumped out and told her that it wasn't warm enough. The elderly lady replied "ohh noo it was like this yesterday". So an issue that was there the day previously was not attended to and people who booked Spa days like ourselves were not notified. " Really wished we had booked the Celtic Manor at this point" 😒.
General courtesy of notifing new arrivals would be verry helpful and an unnecessary disappointment 🤔💁‍♂️.

I didn't make a fuss at the time as I didn't want to put a blunt on her birthday. When leaving the next morning i decided to speak to the manager at reception thinking maybe this stay could be rectified by compensating us in some way for the lack of facilities in the Spa. Instead of this the manager was completely nonchalant and told me that other guests had complained also, but somebody had tested the pool that morning. She explained then that when the pool had been tested it was 1 to 2° within range?

I told her if other guest's had complained then surely its not hot enough? The jacuzzi is either hot or its not?.
On the other hand despite other guests complaining the fact that the pool was 1° within range was perfectly acceptable and perfectly void of offering any kind of compensation at all. I also told her the main reason why I had booked here was becsuse of the Spa otherwise I would of booked a B&B.

I think arguing a point at reception during checkout time was perfectly unprofessional and,100% lacking any consideration towards guests. Perfectly good money wasted when we could of had a lovely stay at the Celtic Manor instead. I guess you learn by your mistakes.

Anyone looking to book a Spa day here i would deffinately consider somewhere else.

Regards.

Mr Damien Roberts.

Booked for my 50th Birthday

Booked for my 50th Birthday, as I has always had fond memories of family holidays in Pembrokeshire when I was I child, and wanted to introduce an new generation. Booked on Aug 24th, only to be contacted today to say "they could no longer accommodate my booking".
So with less than 5 days left to try and find an alternative place to celebrate my birthday.

What disgraceful, dishonourable and despicable hotel. My advice is to steer well clear, as they are likely to repeat this behaviour with other would be guests, just because you have a confirmed booking will not stop these jokers leaving you in the lurch.
