Land Rover In Control 'map' update
Just received another invitation from Land Rover In Control sat nav update to use a 'discount' to update maps.
The LAST time I did this, (sorry, can't recall the exact date so the experience date is a spurious one) carefully following all the instructions, which included obtaining an SD card reader, the sat nav failed to update.
So, guess what! Won't be spending any more and such is my complete lack of faith in customer service for whichever organisation actually manages this that I didn't even bother contacting them but instead assumed it was some kind of scam. Especially as it now seems that you have to pay up front to even download the updater.
Shame, up till then it was going so well. (Oh, wait - when we DID need to contact roadside assistance a while back using the 'support' we were quoted HOURS before anything would happen and ended up using our own existing roadside assistance.)
JLR Basingstoke
How is JLR Basingstoke ever expected to survive with such poor service and that is a generous comment. No communication at all from the service department phone, email, left messages, warranty company chasing and nothing. Took my car to them twice, the first was a terrible experience for a waterpump that took nearly a month to replace and didn't actually fix the problem, second time I had to abandon the repair and take my car elsewhere. Your charged £213+vat per hour for the pleasure. The showroom is full of staff laughing and joking but seemingly never answering the phone or emails. Never going to JLR Basingstoke again.

LR loyalty loss
I am on my third Evoque. Apart from a lot of issues with my first Diesel model, I've loved the car. It's style, design and joy of driving it the main reasons. Sadly however this may be coming to an end. They have allowed their range in Aberdeen to move to a new dealership, with the previous company seemingly not transferring/honouring/delivering on contractual agreements. This leaves myself - with a 10-year loyalty to LR in Aberdeen - facing a £600+ bill for a first service. Funnily enough, still 'selling' this as part of their March campaign, yet not honouring my March 2024 deal. In a world of immediacy and no brand loyalty, hugely disappointing to be penalised for mine!
DUCKWORTH MISLEAD CUSTOMERS
Showed interest in a Defender this morning at Duckworth Market Rasen. Received the wrong vehicle specification on the configurator and then found that they were advertising a car they didn’t have in stock. It was basically advertised as a ploy ( now referred to as click bait) to get customers interested in a new car instead of one that already had the registration paid for. Duckworths are a family company which sees no issue in misleading customers.

Engine light constantly coming on. Spent a fortune with them trying to get it fixed and each time have to pay for more diagnostics. Awful awful customer service. Don't buy one.
Water lick from the wins creen
Well I have own a Range Rover but started with water getting trough the windshield, I check this and I found that it’s a very common issue on them, I check and it’s clearly a manufactured fault and so obviously contacted Marshell dealers in Cheltenham, basically I had to pay to them for them to say that Range Rover would not pay and I had to pay £240 for them to tell me what i already knew and the reason why I taken my car to them. The staff at marshel inc the manager were very nice and he give me a 1/2 price due to me been obviously very disappointed. If I knew I was going to have to pay £240 just to look at it and say yes it’s water entering the car I would have pay a different garage to do this job.
I’m warning anyone to be careful and don’t get stunk like me. I was going to purchase another Range Rover but after the decision by them I would not be buying not be recommending this car to anyone

Currently in the process of scrapping my 7 year old Discovery Sport after a Turbo failure a week after its (expensive) service. Cost to repair £5k with no guarantee it would be fixed. Full service history (with main dealership) and just 65,000 miles. Zero help from Land Rover on resolving the situation. No choice but to scrap. Have heard so many similar stories since this happened. Common failures, inability to diagnose and fix issues without astronomical bills, no common sense in the services to check status of these areas of common failure (or advise advanced checks). Terrible, terrible experience all round and strongly recommend people research more reliable brands for this sort of investment. Land Rovers look nice but that's about it.
Over 3 weeks and still not touched
Land Rover Stafford have had my car in for repair for the 5th time since October 2025 this time it was taken to the garage after electrical problems again on the 7th February 2026 parked up and that is where it still parked they haven’t touched it they say staff shortage why not get more staff I was due to sell it before it broke down now the car value has dropped by £500 since it has been sitting there for a month coming up next week. Update special thanks to Mark & Katie for eventually sorting this out not their fault that the site are short staffed need more electrical technicians.

Still waiting for many weeks for a rear nearside light unit replacement that had water damage from factory !! Told its on a back order from Spain as there were none in the country !! However told today that the manufacturing machine was broken down and they were waiting for spare part!! Then told they found a unit in Latvia and waiting for it to come into Swansea main dealer … havent been able to drive our Evoque since 5th january unless !!! Range Rover what a joke ! . would appreciate any help !!
Time wasters
Time wasters. Tried to purchase a used Land Rover Discovery from Land Rover Basingstoke - part of the Harwoods group. A complete waste of time, the two staff were friendly enough, but could only say ‘no’ to the suggestions I proposed - note the options I proposed, not the JLR staff. They refused to budge even a penny on the asking price to help the purchase then stated they had ‘maxed’ what they could offer - bizarre as nothing was offered! A waste of three or so days of emails and calls. They don’t really seem to want to sell cars ? All very odd. I will take my business elsewhere and recommend you do the same.

He could not have been more helpful and called around to find an alternative option for us because he couldn’t help for a couple of months. Within an hour I received a message from Michael at Lloyd/Landrover in Newcastle who was responding to a request from Robbie to contact us. Very very impressed and I will definitely use their services again in the future. Please extend my gratitude to both of them ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Absolutely abysmal service from Land Rover Assist. Rude, unhelpful and unsafe advice. Refused to provide courtesy car as I had an existing appointment at JLR service before my car started to make burning smells. Apparently if I have an appointment there it negates any roadside assistance help.
I love my 2018 Range Rover Evoque
I love my 2018 Range Rover Evoque! It’s classy, sporty, and makes every drive feel a little more exciting. It’s comfortable, reliable, and the style still turns heads. When it’s time to upgrade, I can honestly see myself getting a newer Evoque or maybe even the Land Rover Defender 90 V8 Bond, Edition. Since I do plan on retiring at the beach.
Group 1 Land Rover Watford Service Department
My car has been with Land Rover watford for just under 4 weeks now and I cannot get any updates. I ring Dailey for an update but no one returns a calls. They are always with a customer. Group 1 landrover watford service department are a total shambles. At one point I was told they would arrange a complementary car but that has not happened. I spoke to a lovely receptionist who try’s to assist me, but she just keeps apologising for the service, but that’s not any help to me. They say the car is under technical review and needs to charge the battery. With all the fast chargers available I don’t get this delay. Please can I ask for help to get my car back. I have a new car on order for delivery 1/3/26 but makes no sense in buying a car from land Rover with this kind of support.

Mentally Exhausting Experience and Lack of Support

I am sharing my experience in the hope that it helps improve customer care for others.
I purchased my vehicle from Land Rover Leicester trusting the brand and the reassurance of extended warranty. Unfortunately, the experience has been extremely stressful. While the car was under warranty, I had to pay twice out of my own pocket for DPF replacements, followed by a gearbox failure that was initially declined by the warranty and only approved after further follow-up.
A few months later, the engine developed a serious noise, and the car has now been with the dealership for over a month. During this time, the warranty company did not receive the required technical information, which resulted in me being asked to return the courtesy car despite my vehicle not being repaired.
Due to unanswered calls, I visited the dealership in person, hoping for support and clarity. Sadly, I was met with a dismissive attitude and told no replacement vehicle would be available for another six weeks.
This has been a mentally exhausting experience. When choosing a premium brand like Land Rover, customers expect care, communication, and understanding — especially during difficult situations. I sincerely hope this feedback is taken seriously and helps prevent others from going through the same experience.
