Our actual journey was Tannay - Decize. Le Boat are an excellent company to deal with. They are incredibly helpful and really want you to have a great time. They are full of advice and support. Even the technicians are friendly and happy to support. The route goes through some of the least populated areas of France. We spent two nights out in the countryside, one in the centre of a huge forest. We wouldn’t see another boat for hours at a time despite it being peak season. There were some lovely buildings to be seen on the way and lots of wildlife in the canal and out of it. This is a great route if you’re happy to cook for a few nights on board and you are after peace and tranquillity. There are limited opportunities to eat out or buy supplies along the way. I think the journey would be better Decize to Tannay. That way the flight of 16 locks would be downhill. A much more pleasant experience.
