Not happy how they've stopped updating the nano s to get people to upgrade so they can ultimately make more money.

Your Ledger Nano S still works, and the Ledger Nano S Plus remains fully supported. These are two different products.

Launched in 2016 the Ledger Nano S was officially retired in 2022, and we’ve been gradually phasing out its support since.

That doesn’t mean it’s bricked — it still lets you send, receive, buy, sell and access your assets.

But due to its technical limitations, it no longer receives the latest features or upgrades — including recent improvements to usability and security.

planned obsolescence

I bought a Ledger Nano S precisely because it was advertised as a long-term, stable, reliable hardware wallet.
The whole point of a hardware wallet is independence from apps and platforms.

Yet today I’ve discovered that my perfectly functional Nano S can no longer sync with either the Android or iOS Ledger Live app.
Not because of a defect.
Not because of misuse.
But because Ledger simply decided to drop proper mobile support, effectively forcing customers to buy a new device.

This is planned obsolescence, plain and simple.

Security should never be an excuse to break compatibility and push new hardware.
A company handling people’s life savings has a responsibility to provide long-term support, not artificial upgrade cycles.

I did not buy a gadget.
I bought what was marketed as critical financial infrastructure.

If you are considering Ledger: understand that your device’s usefulness is now at the mercy of their product roadmap — not your keys, not your ownership.

Extremely disappointed.
This is not how financial sovereignty should be treated.

THEY ACTUALLY CARE!

They never quit! I imagine there are a lot of people still new to crypto currency investments and the available hardware options. I started with Trezor and was so disappointed - I stepped up in hardware price with Ledger and BOY WAS THAT A SMART MOVE!

My family and I have just returned from…

My family and I have just returned from our fairytale Christmas in Austria. We had the most amazing time! We stayed in the Harfenwirt hotel which was a lovely place to stay with amazing views and great food. The staff were very friendly and welcoming! We travelled with Llew jones coach company with drivers mark and Marco! They went above and beyond to make our Christmas special.. they were so helpful and friendly and really made our holiday a five star experience.. all in all we had an amazing time.. I was quite emotional to part ways

I'm furious

I'm furious. Selling someone a "wallet" that later has to be "verified", and I cannot do it for months, allowing funds to be completely detached from me as the owner, is a major bullshit. First wallet is not something that a company to which I gave my trust to can exclude me from, so this is a very questionable concept, with a questionable outcome.

Always check the address by forwarding to see who it’s from

I’m trying to get some support for my brother from ledger but it’s hopeless various gmail accounts like ledgercasestream at gmail or support at ledgerteam . Site send fake case replies

What makes this more frustrating is you cannot talk to anyone at ledger and the level of professionalism in this support is minimal.

My advice is stay away from crypto

My brother and I have contacted you about changing keys via updates and in so locking us out of his wallet you maintain it dint happen but we sent crypto then again 15 minutes later and then we couldn’t move it from ledger to another make of wallet.

You can notify the company that registered the domains they use they constantly register their domains at the same location. It’s china or Korea but you are not interested in preventing scams better to not use a wallet with ties to china.

Avoid Ledger unless you want to spend a lot money to update hardware

Ledger will force you to continually upgrade your hardware so please go with another brand. For example they have screwed customers who use the nano s plus with older macs because they stopped supporting ledger live for macos 10.15 and also turned off the option to disable automatic updates. So if you don’t want or can’t run out and get a new computer right away you are left with the choice of either reinstalling ledger live each time you want to use it or buying a newer and more expensive ledger wallet. Seems to be a strategic move on their part to extract more $ from customers. Avoid Ledger! They are a dirty company.

- macOS support: Current Ledger Wallet (formerly Ledger Live) requires newer macOS versions because Apple ended support for older systems. Running outdated OS versions carries security risks, so we no longer maintain Ledger Wallet on 10.15 and below. If you’re on an older mac, the practical workaround is to use a supported OS (another computer, or mobile with Ledger Live where applicable) or update macOS when possible. - Device vs. app: Your Ledger device (including Nano S Plus) remains fully usable and your funds are always safe on-chain. The entire process of setting up took a long time.

The entire process of setting up took a very long time.
My device was purchased at Best Buy and needed 3-4 updates. Made me feel as though I got a very old device. It was not easy or efficient in the least.

Peace of mind for long-term family Bitcoin savings

Ledger has become a core part of how our family thinks about saving, security, and long-term value. The device is solidly built, straightforward to use, and most importantly gives genuine peace of mind knowing our private keys are stored offline and protected properly.

We use Ledger primarily for long-term Bitcoin storage. Our children, Harry and Sophie, both compete internationally in obstacle course racing (OCR), and when they achieve big wins or milestones, we reward their effort with Bitcoin rather than short-term treats. Ledger allows us to store those rewards securely and reinforces the idea of patience, responsibility, and protecting what you earn.

, and Ledger has become part of the values we’re trying to pass on alongside sport discipline, long-term thinking, and personal responsibility.
Setup was clear, the interface is intuitive, and updates feel professional rather than rushed. It doesn’t feel like a gimmick product it feels like a serious tool built for people who actually care about security.

Ledger does security exceptionally well. The combination of offline key storage, solid hardware quality, and clear user guidance inspires confidence. It’s a product that encourages good habits rather than risky behaviour, which is especially important when you’re thinking long-term or involving your family.

What could be improved?

Ledger could go further with education and family-focused features. Simple learning tools, clearer explanations for younger users, or optional parent-guided modes would be a great addition for families introducing crypto responsibly. The foundation is already excellent, education would elevate it even more.

What’s important for people to know?

Ledger isn’t the cheapest option, but that’s the point. You’re paying for proper security and peace of mind. If you’re serious about holding crypto long term especially Bitcoin this is a product worth investing in.

Battery and storage

Purchased my orignal Ledger nano X on 3/2/2022 which worked fine then purchased a second Ledger nano X 11/25/23 and out of box had battery problems.ERROR "contact customer support " with no help . Charging problems / not holding a charge for only a few days . BELEAVE IT OR NOT i WENT AND PURCHASED a Flex in Dec of 2024 to replace my Nano X from 11/25/23 and still battery does not hold a charge and minimal storage capacity . Custome Support DOES NOT EXISTS, all sarcasm. GIANT DISAPPOINTMENTS . Already stopped two friends from purchasing Ledger products SHAME ON YOU
