Do not book if you want a reliable service
I want to share the bad experience with the car I was given by Lej Et lig.
I rented a car for a trip outside Copenhagen (around 100km) from 14-4 to 18-4
I got there without issues with the car, except a terrible smell of gasoline in the car for a while which eventually seemed to go away.
While returning back to Copenhagen on (17-4), the car broke down on the way and we were left stranded far from Copenhagen with almost no public transport for another 3-4 km.
I was stuck with my wife, a friend, and a 5-month-old kid. It was very stressful to wait for almost 3 hours on the road.
I inspected the car only to find that the coolant was below minimum.
We purchased a coolant and topped it up ourselves
On top of that, the mechanic that arrived there told us that the battery was dead and oil was leaking from the bottom. He also mentioned the specific car which we had, was not good as they had recently changed the gearbox on it and that was the only thing that worked properly. So despite knowing this, I am surprised we were offered this car in the first place
The car itself was not in the best condition when I received it(I have pictures of the car as I received it), but I was willing to overlook that if the car functioned properly given the price.
Then after a conversation with the Viktor(the person on call) I was first asked to take the train to Copenhagen, which I refused because of a small kid and luggage which was not possible to take via train. Then they finally agreed on a taxi back home.
I was unable to find a taxi myself on the taxa app because there were none coming to the area we were stranded, so Viktor spoke to the mechanic helping us who went off to someplace and got a taxi booked for us.
The taxi arrived after about 45 mins of waiting time. The taxi itself barely fit us all and I paid for it myself at the time.
I had a terrible experience on this trip especially because of the stress as it was the first one with my kid on a vacation.
I don't know if this is a normal experience for customers with a car company, but it was definitely not a good one for us.
There is a lot left to be desired in terms of the service I was expecting.
Then 2 days later I sent them the receipt of the taxi trip for a reimbursement after which I was asked for an explanation on why I took a taxi back home and that they don’t cover such expenses. I again had to repeat the whole story and the fact that I spoke to Viktor already. Eventually they reimbursed me the price of the taxi trip.
I still was robbed of the stressfree vacation I hoped to have with my son on his first ever trip outside the city. Unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be. We were also not reimbursed for one whole lost day of a car rental(18-4) since the car had to be towed back on the 17th.
I don’t think I even want any reimbursement and thankfully we could get home without any harm done. If there was a zero star, I would have used it.
