LICOREA = ABYSMAL CUSTOMER SERVICE

LICOREA had Trustpilot remove my reviews but I was able to provide documentation that proved my purchase was verified. The follow is my original review which I’m adding here.

FACT:
I bought 4 bottles of 1 litre Patron XO Cafe (which come with cartons) from LICOREA, in Alicante, Spain. These are for a collection and not for drinking, so condition is all important.

FACT:
All 4 cartons were quite badly damaged, one with a piece torn off the lid.

FACT:
When I informed LICOREA, they told me, and I quote,

“The boxes came from here in perfect condition.”

They told me to claim from the courier.

FACT:
I asked LICOREA for images of the items before they packaged them and they sent me one which showed the torn lid.

FACT:
When I queried this, they said they would get back to me the next day.

FACT:
LICOREA didn’t get back to me so I had to contact them again 3 days later.

FACT:
They did not address the issue of the image with the torn carton, totally ignoring it.

FACT:
LICOREA then told me I could return the items for a refund but I would have to pay shipping costs.

FACT:
They also said this, and I quote,

“The bottles are perfect and what we sell are bottles, not boxes.”

FACT:
When I told LICOREA that individuals in the UK are prohibited by DHL and UPS from sending alcohol and even one bottle exceeds the weight limit for Royal Mail, they sent me this, and I quote,

“You would have to pay the shipping costs, as we have sent it correctly. The bottles are perfect.
Regarding the transport, you have to hire an agency. UPS and GLS ship alcohol. You have to prepare the package yourself. You can use the packaging in which the order arrived. The bottles have to arrive in perfect condition too.
We hope we have helped you”

FACT:
Once again I am utterly cheesed off by a retailer who has simply denied responsibility for damaged goods when the evidence is actually not only there in front of their eyes, but in a photograph taken by them.

CONCLUSION:
Even if it was viable for me to return the items, I would be afraid that, given LICOREA’S attitude, I might have difficulty getting my refund. I would of course be out of pocket by whatever the cost would be to return said items.
If you receive goods from LICOREA which are damaged, you may well encounter the sort of abysmal customer service I suffered. Feel free to take a chance on LICOREA, but I can assure you, I for one will never buy from them again.

I have not used dramatic licence, exaggerated, or embellished my representation in any way. Everything I have written is exactly as it happened and I would be more than happy to share photos of the damage to the cartons as well as the original transcript of the messages from LICOREA.

PS To date, the courier has not responded to the 3 emails I’ve sent them. Much like LICOREA then, Customer Service doesn’t appear to be very high on their list of priorities.

Let me be absolutely crystal clear about this so there can be no misunderstanding.
This is the fourth of four separate reviews of LICOREA, the last three of which are in response to their replies. It is gratifying that LICOREA continue to monitor my reviews, but hugely disappointing that they don’t actually address the issues and questions I’ve raised. I’m retired from work though, so I’ve plenty of time to keep our dialogue here open and continue my reviews until I get a satisfactory resolution to my problem. I suppose it would be naive of me in the extreme at this point to expect an honest appraisal by LICOREA of their behaviour and attitude to me...but hey-ho, worse things in life can happen.
I’m calling you out now LICOREA and challenge you to deny that you lied to me. Easy enough to answer you’d imagine, you either did or you didn’t.

**UPDATE**

After LICOREA’s absolutely pathetic response (see below) I’m hoping that anyone who has read this saga will now be well aware of their utterly diabolical attitude and customer service. They just don’t have the b***s to answer me.

**PLEASE DON’T BUY FROM THIS MISERABLE BUNCH OF CHEATS**

Insurance only take care of broken damages (you must read insurance conditions in courier service used). You have received bottles in perfect condition, there are not any insurance for a little sign on 1 individual paper box of 4 normal tequila bottles purchased (check your courier conditions used we don’t send parcels)

We are glad that the bottles arrived without any breakage and in the promised time. Best regards!

A bit messy with the payment and refund

I ordered 5 bottles of whiskey at the weekend. No confirmation email until Wednesday so looks like I lost my money. They email me one bottle out of stock at Thursday... I agreed to send it without the one bottle if they send me refund which I have to email them 3 times to get my money back. The shop explained refund delay because Black Friday (I bought it at Saturday). Anyway... I have to wait 2 week's for my money and email them three times as I said earlier. Bad experiences and I really be think twice if I will order anything from this shop.

Hello. Mr Pavel. You placed your order on Black Friday days (Jack Daniel's Collector bottles), one month ago this review (November 27), you closed in a wrong way your payment and our team needed to find your payment and recover it from all payments received (a huge quantity this day's).

Monday morning was recovered and put in order queue, due to this a limited stock product you ordered was sold before your order enter correctly in our system. We tried to locate this collector bottle (Gentleman Jack Limited Ed.) in some partner to try to complete your order, and we take 1 day to finally update as product out of stock.
The same day you were notified and after your reply your order was sent to your city in Almeria, Spain and delivered the next day in perfect conditions.

The refund delay was about Black Friday days, but successfully done.

Excellent service, will order again!

I ordered a special bottle of whisky for a special occasion and therefore needed the bottle earlier than the projected delivery date. Licorea was very kind and helped to get my special shipment out very quickly. I received the bottle even sooner than I had hoped. Thank you!

Great exp

After reading (mostly) bad reviews, I gave it a go because I did not have much of a choice. Price of 30e+20e for a delivery almost turned me off but even 50e for a specific bottle was 30e less then something i could find in IE (and - it was unavailable locally, no matter the price). Second order of about 200e (came in today) was all that i was hoping for - almost 50% less in price (delivery included), about a week for delivery, decent packing, ... long story short - I am amazed, i just can hope that 3rd, 4th, 5th, ... order will go as smooth as 1st and 2nd because I would definitely place 'em

I wish I had read the reviews before… At no time have I received a proof of delivery to my address with a signature, the parcel could have been delivered anywhere. No parcel has been delivered to me!

I wish I had read the reviews before ordering from this company as they have been extremely unhelpful.
I placed an order in early December and it was to be delivered by GLS, After a lot of emails and phone calls to Licorea the conclusion is that the order was delivered in January to goodness knows where and Licorea have now washed their hands of it. They will neither replace the missing order or give me my money back.
Terrible company, have nothing to do with them.......

Couriers refused your claim due GPS and signature proofs that order was correctly delivered in Rua do Saco 22A, Portugal

Courier has their normative when has to verify a correct delivery in an address and in your case after a lot of claims by us after your contacts the courier confirmed that was perfectly delivered in your address, they sent us handmade signature in your address (a pity not possible to upload here for everyone). Ask in your address thats not the first time that a worker or a family collects parcel.

You was mailed 07/01/21 (received read check of our email) with pod from courier.

Concluding remarks on this trade of misery:
So order 17.11-20 .. Skyy vodkas apparently sold 2 times when they announced on 4.12 they don't have a 1 liter Skyy. Offered 0.7l but did not want to put x1.3 bottles ... (not answered).
6.1-21 I would have switched to other brands of Vodki but did not reply and put 7.1 to come with only half of the order (1 box arrives at 14.1) I had paid for shipping from 2 boxes .. After many email steps refunded shipping and shipping credit 10.2-21 ..! !

So it took 3 months to get this order to the finals ... I would not recommend this company to anyone if they want to drink booze, but if they want to spend a fresh so on. Also miserable is their response to the willingness of e-mails. Also a company operating in Spain:Ap order and Ip transit... Vinosonline where the order comes in 6 days, and not the products at the end of them.

Awful company

Awful company. I placed an order, they charged me twice and despite using their ticketing system to send three messages (#5461, #5522, #5523 - all of which were cancelled?) I’ve had no response.

Just to update everyone as I think its important for people to know how incredibly RUDE this company is.

Firstly they state that its very clear that products can’t be shipped to the UK. This is not true when you go to the product page from google.

Secondly they have a system that allows payments to be taken from a UK bank account but can’t deliver to a UK address? Fix your website so this can’t happen.

Thirdly, I have NEVER come across such an unprofessional company as this who are so incredibly rude to their customers.

If they had resolved this issue quicker, I’d happily update this saying that they had resolved the issue. Instead they send rude and aggressive emails accusing me of lying.

Now they are accusing me of ‘cheating’ and blaming a computer error??? Absolutely laughable.

Hesitant at first, but great experience

Was slightly hesitant at first, about ordering from this website after looking at reviews. But once I looked through the reviews, it was mainly negative due to shipping delays over the Christmas period. This is totally expected with covid and also increased shipping demand over this period. So I decided to order from the website and it arrived 2 days after the expected delivery date, however that is due to UPS and nothing got to do with licorea. It worked out much cheaper to buy from here than Ireland even including shipping costs. I have now ordered more from their website and am looking forward to getting my order next week. I would definitely recommend buying from here

Writing to debunk the bad reviews

I have ordered from Licorea 7 times over the past year, each order totalling to over €140 and every single time it has arrived on time or before. The one time it didn't, the package was lost by UPS and upon contacting Licorea they sent a replacement package free of charge.

The drinks are always sealed with a sticker and I always get exactly what I order. They are not counterfeit as they taste the exact same as the local stuff, except half the price. They might not deliver to the UK anymore but that is purely a UPS thing because of Brexit.

The majority of the issues here are with UPS and not with Licorea. If it's shipping delays, it's UPS. If your package is damaged, it's UPS. I just received a package today and UPS threw the package over my 6 foot gate and it landed on hard tarmac. The Licorea packaging is so good that the bottles were completely unscathed. Each order is packed into a box with a styrofoam custom fitted to the box size. There's about three inches of hard styrofoam around each bottle and absolutely no room to move.

So, don't be put off by the bad reviews. If you read them, the English is abhorrent. That alone should be an indicator that they are either spam, lying, or hot-headed and impatient. Almost all of the recent bad reviews were around Christmas time, the busiest time of the year in terms of shipment. Of course there are going to be delays.

The owner of this site runs an amazing blog (licorea.es) and posts almost every day on it as well as Instagram and Twitter. This site is categorically not a scam.

The customer service is slow sometimes, but it is usually because they are waiting for a response from UPS. Also, this is a Spanish website and company. The owner is not fluent in English and it therefore takes time to properly read, translate and reply back and he does a damn good job too. So maybe learn a little Spanish and you might get a quicker response. It is quite entitled to assume everyone speaks English fluently.

Rereading this it sounds like I am the owner pretending to be a customer. If you want to believe that that's your prerogative but the reason I am writing this is because even after ordering 6 times with no issues, I looked at these reviews and I was actually scared to order again. If you are apprehensive, order through PayPal or on your Credit card and you can easily claim back if anything goes sour.

Very late delivery; no reply to mail

I ordered two bottles on 4 December, and they arrived only on 20 January. There were supposed to be Christmas presents. My query about the delivery never received a reply.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY!

I ordered of this company on the 20th December. They emailed me on the 30th December cancelling my order blaming Brexit. This is totally unacceptable and this order was to be used for business gifts.

I am still trying to get a refund from them. Please stay clear and order elsewhere as there’s something fishy about this company.

From 18th France and UK closed courier access (check newspapers) we try until last day to find a shipping solution but Brexit lockdown date was in effect that the reason of the refund. He have not responsability, this review has no sense. This is the new reality for UK.

No Customer Service!!

Ordered 6 bottles of good Rioja. Costing over €100. One arrived and was corked (it was off as air had got to it)

I raised a support ticket on their website and emailed. Over a week and have heard nothing. Will never use again and would advise others against using them as if you have ANY problem you will be ignored!

I ordered a bottle of whiskey on Friday 27 November, after two weeks of no order updates I raised a support case to ask for a shipping update and after a further week of no updates I have given up on the order and the money I wasted on it. I appreciate times are hard with covid but three weeks of no contact or update is ridiculous

Zero communication, still not shipped from 6 Dec.

Ordered Xmas hampers on 06 Dec, status hasn't changed since. No reply to email, no reply to support ticket. No communication of delay or whether or not it's going to get sent.

If the order was magically got dispatched today to make it in time for Xmas I'd edit this review - I understand busy period/covid situation and am tolerant, but completely ignoring support tickets and email on massive delays is not good.

Only leaving this review in desperation because of complete lack of communication and $300 down.

I have placed an order on the 20 Nov…

I have placed an order on the 20 Nov 2020 (order No. 70158) and apparently the parcel was handed over to GLS couriers on the 23rd Nov.
Since then no news what's so ever.
I have tried to call Licorea and nobody answers the phone. I have email them twice through their support tickets ( ID 3944 & 3992) and still nothing.
I am about to call my credit card and try to recover the payment.
I would be very careful before placing an order with them
