I really don’t know what to make of this lot..I should have read the Trust Pilot negative reviews..
I placed an order and was impressed…The second order wasn’t delivered, after two weeks I telephoned them, apology after apology.. promised to deliver.. no delivery…I now want a refund,
Many emails later saying how can you run a business like your doing.. “REFUND NOW”. No refund..
Be wise stay well away….

Huge disappointment from Lidgate’s today. I bought a Pecan Pie expecting a premium treat, but it was a total letdown. The pastry was soft and soggy, and the filling was a thick paste. Even the pecans were soft and tasteless instead of being toasted and crunchy. It went straight in the bin—a complete waste of money. I won’t be recommending this.

Lidgates had been recommended to me by a couple of clients so I ordered our Christmas turkey from them this year. Big mistake, never again! We ordered a turkey weight of 3kg to 3.5kg at a cost of over £100. The turkey weighed 2.3kg when you removed the giblets. There was more bone than meat, and no way would it serve 6 people. They had put a sticker on it saying it was a 3kg to 3.5kg bird, but if they had looked properly at the faded label below they would have seen the weight was 2.5kg.

I have been a Lidgate customer for many years and as always they go out if their way to deliver to me and very fast even paying themselves for a minicab if the delivery driver is very busy making sure I get the order.
Lately I haven’t been well and couldn’t get there but even if I call in the morning my order is with me by the afternoon and their products never disappoint. Thank you.

Lidgate’s, this is beyond absurd. £40 for a measly 180g Wagyu fillet steak? At that price, I expected melt-in-your-mouth perfection, but what I got was underwhelming at best.

This “steak” was laughably small, with barely any of the marbling you’d expect from real Wagyu. The flavor? Practically nonexistent. It wasn’t tender, it wasn’t juicy, and it certainly wasn’t worth anything close to £40.

You’re charging premium prices for a steak that doesn’t deliver on quality, taste, or even portion size. This is a scam dressed up as luxury. Avoid at all costs—Lidgate’s is selling overpriced mediocrity masquerading as fine dining. Absolute disgrace.

I was sold a pheasant that had not been cleaned (ie gutted) at all, though it had bacon on top and was clearly ready for the oven. I cooked it, unaware, cut it in half and discovered the disgusting contents. I tried to eat the breast, but was able to manage very little. When I complained, the manager shrugged it off, offered a replacement, then a small amount off my next purchase. So, beware........

Lidgates are my local butchers. Over the years they've supplied brilliant stuff that I've always relied on for perfection. I was seduced by a half price offer, sent to my email, for a 50% off a feather steak. Bought 4. Sadly, they were dreadful. FYI, yes, I've had this cut before (from other suppliers) and no, I did not expect the filet-like butteriness. What I did not expect though, were these tough, sinewy and surprisingly tasteless pieces of meat. I should have known - if it's too good to be true, it probably is. BTW, my Shepherds Pies were exactly as expected - PERFECTION!
UPDATE: it must have been a dodgy piece. The other portions of the feather steak were very good.

Absolutely phenomenal service received from Lidgates. I had made a not insubstantial order that was meant to be delivered for my husband's birthday dinner.
Something went wrong with the delivery partner and the order couldn't be delivered. As you can imagine, I was quite distressed since this whole shop was meant for a big occasion! Lidgates did right by me immediately; I phoned them up and they have sent out a courier with our replacement order that rang our bell a couple of hours later. Birthday dinner saved and our bellies full!

Exceptional meat and products, and well worth the money!
