I would like to see machine like to take returns and receive money compensation and I would like to get compensation!

And better scan machines and Lidl points scanner! I would like to now know why they couldn't do this for me to take back the groceries that I didn't want!

I love going to my Lidl in Patchway, Bristol, the shop is always well presented, fruit and veg quality is always good, and I can always find what I am looking for.
Staff are super friendly and always willing to help if I need it. They are really helpful when I need to do my big camp shops.

Lidl crazy self checkout non staffing

My local Lidl, in my East Midlands market town, recently introduced a self checkout area. At the same time they reduced the number of the old style isles being operated by their staff.
I have no problem using self checkouts, they can be very speedy and efficient, like they are at my local Tesco, also in my market town,
What I have found with Lidl, though, is that they are often unmanned. Which seems unbelievable . Worse , there is a barrier preventing you leaving without scanning a reader with your receipt. So if you need assistance with a problem or a product that needs authorising , you are trapped ! Quite astonishing. Often, the guy on the only open ‘normal’ checkout isle, has to stop what he’s doing and go to the self checkout area to deal with the issue !
Clearly , Lidl have introduced this change in order to cut costs, reduce their already wafer thin staffing levels and get their customers to do the work instead of them. Unlike my local Tesco who’s self checkout areas are always manned 100% of the time and often have more than one staff members in attendance.
Tesco have learnt the lesson of the importance of customer service ; Lidl have not . Which is why I am now switching to using my local Aldi in preference to Lidl !

disgusting

I have a few particular things I cannot eat from when I was a child. A type of OCD if you will. I do not eat paper, I do not eat plastics. It's not a choice, it's a disgust thing.

I got blackberries from Lidl, a couple of days later, as I'm opening the box, I see they're filled with the paper underneath them. The dark paper had turned white and all those little paper dots are all over the blackberries.

You know how expensive blackberries are in general, right? Healthy food is more expensive than unhealthy food.

Well, I almost had to throw the whole thing out because of the sheer disgust I felt looking at paper filled blackberries!

So now I have to choose between eating something I never wanted to eat or throwing away money.

Thank you so much Lidl! Maybe learn from your competitors and change what's underneath the berries. There shouldn't even be paper and coloured paper as that sticks to the fruit. It's common sense, you know!

Stopped using Lidl

Stopped using Lidl now, used to be my go-to store. They con people with offers front-of-store containing tiny text telling people it's for Lidl Plus users only. I'm now an Aldi shopper and Asda is getting it's act together under Leighton.

I visited the Lidl in Stamford Hill…

I visited the Lidl in Stamford Hill (N16) on 19 September and picked up around four items. There were no manned tills at all, only self‑service, and the queue was extremely long. I didn’t have time to wait, so I left the store. Today I received a £60 parking charge (£100 if not paid within 14 days). I am absolutely furious.

I returned to the store yesterday, hoping my previous experience was a one‑off. Again, no manned tills, and it appears Lidl has removed or closed the few staffed tills that remain. The only option was self‑service, and once again the queue was far too long. I left my shopping and walked out. I fully expect another parking charge to follow. Lidl seems to be moving towards a fully self‑service model, as some of the former till lanes are now filled with products.

I will not be using this store ever again. Lidl has created a system that shows no consideration for local customers — regardless of age, ability, or preference for being served by an actual person. Lidl and other large supermarket chains need to remember that not everyone wants to use self‑service, and many older or less able customers simply cannot. Do Lidl care? Clearly not.

Combine this with a parking operator whose sole purpose appears to be generating revenue, and the whole experience becomes unacceptable. I will be switching to M&S home delivery instead. Truly shocking.

Beef joints....more chewing gum than meat.

Beef joints....both "Deluxe😆 " and Roasting. What a joke, I threw away more than I ate, what I should of done was buy some chewing gum. Firstly the Deluxe mature (£18.10) was more fat than beef and the 21 day matured roasting (£11.89)was nothing more than a "ROLLED" joint of fat cleverly disguised in the wrapping. The quality of food, not just the beef at Lidl has diminished over the last few months that much so that I'll NO LONGER shop at Lidl Mablethorpe. I've shopped here for 17 years plus and have noticed a massive decline in quality over ALL the range of foods in the last 6 months and it seems to be getting worse. Tesco looks like they're getting ALL my business from here on in.

18 Checkouts, Only 3 Cash Working — What a Disgrace

Absolutely unacceptable customer service.

18 checkout lanes in the store — 6 supposedly available for cash payments. And guess what? Only 3 of those 6 were actually working.

So, during the busiest time of the day, an entire store was left with just THREE functioning cash checkouts, with those machines repeatedly freezing and malfunctioning. The result? Long queues and around 20 minutes of standing and waiting just to pay.

And this is not the first time this has happened.

What makes it even more unacceptable is that a large proportion of the customers were elderly people, for whom standing in a queue for 20 minutes is not just physically exhausting, but mentally stressful as well. Yet there seems to be absolutely no consideration for this.

Having 18 checkouts means very little if you cannot actually keep them operational when customers need them most. This feels like complete disregard for customers and their basic needs.

Today was simply beyond the limit.

A warning to older customers like myself: avoid Lidl during peak hours — and, judging by my experience, don’t assume you’ll be better off outside peak times either.

I am completely pissed off by such a behaviour and misleading information from Lidl management. The application states that after seven in the evening baked goods are sold with a 20% discount. I put in different types of baked goods, since this information in the application does not show any activation button and is faded out, I thought that this would be done automatically at the checkout, because it was already after seven in the evening. When I saw on the receipt that no discount had been applied, I checked the application again and saw that only after opening it does a button appear that needs to be pressed to activate the offer. This is simply a scam from people who could benefit more by misleading them. They must be sued for such a scamming.

Comments about Lidl

Overall I am very pleased with the service and helpful staff at the Driffield store.
The only issue is with some of the good on the shelves that seem to disappear and are never seen again I could probably mention about half a dozen items including low fat yoghurts dried fruit non for around three weeks washing detergent for coloured has gone altogether and shredded wheat biscuits also disappeared but the prices are very competitive and good value and good quality

I shop at Lidl Solihull. In the past week my £5 voucher was not deducted from my total bill. I’ve been in today and purchased ham with 30% off and the discount was not deducted from my final bill, very annoying.

Today I went shopping at Lidl and it…

Today I went shopping at Lidl in West Sussex, Shoreham by Sea and it was quite a big shop. On the way home I noticed that there were two items that were false. So, we returned and got a refund and was helped ever so quickly and all was sorted.
So why just one star?? The girl/lade on our cash desk was made aware of the discrepancies and just shrugged it off. I have to say that the error amounted to just under £20. Not such a small mistake in my books. No "I am sorry" or anything else from her. Just raising both hands up, which looked to me like that she did not care at all. We are pensioners and cannot afford to lose such an amount.
So thank you very much for the people who helped to sort it out very quickly 5* but for the young lady not even one, so just two all in all from us.

Just had my 2nd free loaf of bread in 3 weeks. Unlike other supermarkets you get a discount or free item every time you shop with Lidlplus. These are not your common or garden loaves of bread but their store baked sourdough loaves worth 2 quid,
It's, great it's a treat and their staff are very good.
