Lidl plus is not worth it. Data harvesting.

My wife nearly got roped into this scheme at the till, cashier made promises of all these wonderful deals and gave her a leaflet on how to go about getting started on the loyalty card scheme. Well first off my wife does not have a smart phone, she would have to buy a mobile with the internet on it to access this app. The outlay for a cheap mobile of this calibre is not worth it. She would have to buy the mobile at lets say £35 and then forever charge it up, pay the mobile phone company for use and then shop at Lidl and spend £3500.00p just to recoup the money for the initial outlay of a cheap phone. All that for a free Strudel, no thanks. It just seems like data harvesting. Why not have a plastic card?? At the end of the day if the answer to that is saving the environment then i would argue that a mobile phone cover is plastic and so are plenty of lidl products ie yogurt pots. My Morrisons card has lasted 17 years and has in no way harmed the environment. Same argument can be applied to bank cards. Way too much hassle, and embarassing when your trying to pay for your shopping only to be lectured about an app by a cashier who does not know a customers circumstances. It is assumed we all have smartphones…. we don’t!
