Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 1,095 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed dissatisfaction with the increasing prices of products, noting that items are getting smaller while costs rise, and some feel prices are increasing without good reason. People frequently encountered issues with product quality, such as fresh produce being moldy or rotten, and other food items tasting rancid or being of poor quality. Customer service was a major point of frustration for many, with reports of unhelpful, rude, and impatient staff, and difficulties in resolving issues like faulty items or overcharges. Some customers also noted problems with the bakery section, specifically mentioning flies on uncovered items, raising concerns about hygiene. Conversely, a few other people also felt that some staff members were professional, helpful, and welcoming, even going out of their way to assist customers.

There is a member of staff at the Lidl…

There is a member of staff at the Lidl on Cowley Road in Uxbridge called Rashimi who is consistently rude to customers, and especially to me. She has no customer service skills whatsoever. I’ve never encountered anyone like her in that store. Her behaviour is unacceptable and makes shopping there an unpleasant experience.

Today, I came into the store and she immediately spoke to me with a rude, aggressive attitude and proceeded to rain abuse on me. Her tone and behaviour were completely unprofessional, and I was left feeling embarrassed and uncomfortable.

For someone working on the frontline for a brand like Lidl, it’s extremely disappointing that customers are treated this way. A local store should be a welcoming place to shop, not somewhere customers feel intimidated or disrespected. I hope this matter is investigated and addressed so that no one else has to experience the same treatment.

Lidl, Parkside and honesty are not in the same room!

Robot Lawn Mower.
Purchased March 2025, started erratic faults May 2025, faults reported (Contact Ref. 132318981)
Referred to NOVO uk their service agent who promised replacement parts, repair or replacement. No further contact from NOVO other than form responses to multiple emails containing lies and excuses - All retained!
This continued until April 2026 ( beyond 12 months since purchase) when out of the blue people were reporting receiving replacement mowers or refunds - I then again contacted Lidl to ask why I had not been refunded or had my mower replaced and NOVO refused the refund! Why - because after waiting so long I attempted to get the mower working again by self repair (with no reliable success) I had shared this publicly online AND with Lidl and NOVO.
I must here refer to NOVO’s first response “parts” being the operative word - had parts actually been sent as advised as a possible solution then fitting those parts was surely acceptable under warranty (had they been sent!) so surely investigating the source of the problem cannot be a breach of warranty conditions 13 months after purchase!
I do know exactly what the fault is and it is one poorly made and installed component that allows moisture into the cavity where the circuit boards are!

The Demise of the Alpenfest

We were always looking forward to the Alpenfest weeks and would load up our trolley with lots of delights. No more! Instead we get Asian and more Asian, American (known as a culinary haven?!) and now and then Italy, Spain or Greece. If I want Asian I go to my nearest Asian shop. I do not need Lidl for this. The only thing that makes me go to Lidl nowadays is the bakery. But how long will this last, I wonder?

Rotten fruit and vegetables

What went wrong! Some of your fruit and vegetables are absolutley discusting every week I end up throwing rotten fruit and vegetables in the bin after only a few days of purshase. I have already boycotted your meat and fish section because of the same problem and now buy from a high street butcher and I will certainly be doing the same regarding fruit/veg. I would rather pay the extra to be able to enjoy what I eat. I was only allowed to put one date but this has been an on going problem.

White eggs

White eggs, why are we being forced to have white eggs
Runny inside, half broke during cracking
Yellow was a washie yellow, no way as dark as brown eggs
I reported this last time I got white eggs
If you must supply white eggs give us the choice
This decision is letting the quality reputation down

Inedible food

I decided to buy some smoked salmon to go with my salad. Unfortunately it was extremely chewy and inedible. This is not the first time I have had to return food to Lidl’s. While I was given my money back it just doesn’t make up the disappointment and the cost of petrol to return the product. May have to decide whether my loyalty to Lidl’s is worthwhile.

An Absolute Waste of Time

The new Lidl Plus system is a complete joke. The discounts are practically non-existent now, turning what used to be a loyalty app into a useless gimmick. It’s a total scam designed to gather user data while giving absolutely nothing in return. Honestly, the pathetic rewards don't even cover the cost of the mobile battery and data used to open the app. My time might be worthless to Lidl, but this app isn't even worth the screen space it occupies. Uninstalled.

Disgusted customer service

I've just been to the store in Thirsk, whilst I got the items I wanted I noticed empty shelves and no staff looking to fill them. I've had an issue in the past with this. But today took the biscuit, I had 4 items, stood in a queue of 4 people, others then joined the queue and we were told to move to another checkout, which about 4 of us did. However after 5 minutes and many tannoy requests no one came to serve us. Eventually a young girl came out and was going to do some shelf stacking, the young man on the other checkout asked if she would open the checkout. She said "she was not on till duty, so no". The store manager passed by a couple of times and did nothing. Eventually this girl opened another checkout and asked us all to move over, she then asked if we were ok, I'm afraid I couldn't reply I was so angry, I paid for my goods and left. I have used this store regularly since it opened. As of today both Aldi and Tesco have my custom.

Lidl Cambridge

Lidl Cambridge, love the shop but I beg you train your staff to be a bit more careful please. I am a regular and have noticed it is the same guys every time that do not seem to be aware there are customers in the shop. I see them throwing stuff around with little care shouting to each other. You even have to get out of their way. On the other hand a lovely and a patient chap at the self check out.

Terrible service

Terrible service, they treat customers as an inconvenience! I had six items in a trolley, three tills were open and busy, the self check-out had one customer, I was turned away from there and told no trollys. I went to the first open till and was told its closing! Two massive queues at the remainder, I left!!
It may be cheaper but I'm fed up with being insulted, I will not be back!

Disgusting Failsworth store- I’ve…

Disgusting Failsworth store- I’ve complained multiple times about the filthy security guard picking his nose and ear and then picking up open foods like fruit and vegetables as he walks round then just throwing them back. The manager, incredibly combative, said “what’s the problem- we handle the fruit, do you have a problem with that as well??”. To which I responded “no, obviously, because you are wearing gloves and presumably trained and employed for that reason. Why is he doing it? And also, if you were picking your own nose and ear first with bare hands then yes! I would complain about you too!!” She had no answer to any of my complaints other than to get combative and sarcastic. Nice staff training Lidl. I won’t be back to any of their stores I found the whole thing an absolute disgrace.

Before they add their little virtue signalling reply below begging me to get in touch with head office because they are so shocked at this isolated incident and so wonderful and committed to customer service- I’ve already called head office to try and get it resolved, and head office did not care one bit. This company is just a bunch of scrotes with marketing.

Lidl in Canning Town is unprofessional and unwelcoming to physically challenged and vulnerable people

1. Monday d 29th of June between 9:30 and 10:am I went shopping at Lidl Canning Town branch 19-23 Minnie Baldock E16 1DT.
2. I hard a shocking, horrendous, humiliating unpleasant, unprofessional shopping experience from the security man on duty and the manager on duty made it worse when I called for his intervention.
3. I Purchased among other food items , salmon which they didn’t de-tag and the alarm went off on me ( not the 1st time but the previous occasion wasn’t embarrassing because of the professional way it was handled at security point)
4. I was struggling with my walking stick, my shopping when the this ‘security’ man pounced on me demanding receipt of purchase, as I wasn’t sure whether I printed or not, I then asked to find out from the people on till and they confirmed I paid for my shopping.

5. Before that, this security held me ransom that I couldn’t leave the shop and humiliating in as shoppers were passing by and thinking I was a shop lifter.

6. The drama became insane when I sent for d shop manager who made it worse and humiliating me further. He made me stand and present my case alongside the security.

7..This manager lacked conflict resolution skills, because he kept saying to me to report to customer service, therefore exhibiting his incompetence as a Manager. He was incapable to handle the situation.

8.This store Manager shouted me down, even when I told him his reaction was making me even more uncomfortable.

9.It was not my fault that you didn’t de-tag your salmon which, I paid for, but you punished me the customer for your ours inadequacies as a company and store manager.

10. I got home I tried to speak to customer service, but was unsuccessful, the only lady who picked the call after 30 minutes was impatient and cut me off, I got an automated callback request which I clicked, but no one from Lidl customer office has contacted since Monday the 29th June when this incident happened.

11. I tried many avenues to log in my report but, it was a total waste of time without success.

12. I believe, this shop, manager and security personnel which he claimed wasn’t hired by lidl discriminated against me for my age, disability and gender.

13. I say this because right in my presence a couple had same experience and I watched the same manager and security treat them respectfully.

14. Shopping in lidl of this branch is very rude and unwelcoming to vulnerable people.

15. If I don’t hear from Lidl after this public review, I will seek advice, and advocacy. These 2 people took away my dignity.
