⚠️ URGENT CONSUMER WARNING: CONTAMINATED “SIMPLE SPRING” WATER SOLD BY LIDL ⚠️

⚠️ URGENT CONSUMER WARNING: CONTAMINATED “SIMPLE SPRING” WATER SOLD BY LIDL ⚠️

I’m writing to raise a serious concern about the Simple Spring bottled water sold at LIDL. I recently purchased a 6-bottle pack and, as I routinely do, tested the water quality at home using a reliable TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) meter.

To my shock, the reading was 537 ppm — a level that indicates heavy contamination. For context:
• The recommended level for safe drinking water is generally under 150 ppm.
• My tap water tested at 368 ppm.
• The Aldi bottled water I normally buy tested at 119 ppm.

This means that LIDL’s “Simple Spring” water is even more contaminated than standard tap water, which is completely unacceptable for a product marketed as “spring water.”

Consumers are being misled and potentially put at risk, as high TDS readings may indicate harmful substances or poor filtration. Selling such water under the guise of purity is both deceptive and dangerous.

I strongly urge LIDL to immediately investigate this issue, withdraw the affected stock, and publish a clear explanation of how this product was approved for sale.

Until then, I recommend that customers avoid purchasing Simple Spring bottled water and report any similar findings to Trading Standards or Environmental Health.

Public health and consumer trust are at stake. LIDL must take this seriously!

Beef Fat disguised as Rump steak

I purchased a pack of 2 rump steaks £8.29 on 14/02/25 for a valentine's dinner. 1 was just edible but the other was a 90% block of fat which had been carefully hidden when packed, I have honestly never seen anything like it. It was so disgusting. Lidl asked for photos of the pack showing all codes the steak and a close up of my complete receipt I did all that for them to offer me 71p more than I paid for the steaks in a voucher which I could only redeem at a manned till ( that's a good half hour of my time if they happen to have a manned till open which is rare) for 71p!!!
That's far from great customer service Lidl. I have always found their fresh meat pretty good but this lump of fat was purposely hidden and covered by the label, ruining a special evening and all next day finding barcodes, product codes, and a close up of the actual product on receipt to send photos of to Lidl for 71p over what I paid in a voucher with conditions!! Not good Lidl..

Akeem or hakeem RUDE

Akeem or hakeem, he said it as quickly as he could so I couldn’t hear him is rude to customers. He was supposedly manning the self service tills. He disappeared taking baskets away and was nowhere to be seen until I went and found him as all the red lights were on the tills (including mine) for assistance. When he eventually returned he served someone else before me. When I said I’d been waiting and I’m in a hurry he said it was ten seconds so I don’t know what you’re worried about!!! I says it wasn’t ten seconds at all and he argued that it was. I will not visit this store anymore with such rude staff. Other customers noticed this rude attitude too.

LIDL Uxbridge

I used your shop in Uxbridge, however, I try to pay through the self checkouts once if you choose option for a cashier, you are more than likely to find only ONE opened, with several full trolleys waiting.

I needed to return an item and I had to queue behind people with full trolleys.
I did not had another choice, so waited.
It was an horrible experience.
Next time, I will call your shop manager to sort out the return.

I tend to use the self checkouts, but the majority of them are always out of order.
This weekend, I wanted to pay with cash - it was a nightmare - myself and others had to wait and let 4-5 customers pass in front of us, because were waiting for the only ONE available CASH option machine.

Finally, I managed to pay my shopping in cash, and had a word with your employer, enquiring why on earth you had only ONE self checkout with option for cash, at peak hours, and the reason given was because the engineers did not sort out the machines.
What a crap of excuse!

But the same type of behaviour is happening across these main supermarkets, at least at Tesco and Aldi

THIS PRACTICE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

These companies are making billions and billions of pounds of profit, with rubbish products, and they can't provide enough working self checkouts, with both options of CASH and CARD?

The money is ours - customers - we the people - and we want to be able to pay for our shopping the way we see fit.
They do not have right to impose on us their creepy ways.
We are the ones, giving them money and making them billionaires, so treat us properly, with respect and value.

From now on, each time, I am using CASH TO PAY for my shopping I will call the shop Manager to make a formal complaint.
And I will encourage other customers to do the same, until this situation is sorted satisfactorily.

I agree with some reviews about poor quality of fruits and vegetables and tasteless stakes.
I actually stop buying fruits and vegetables from the supermarkets as I believe they are using chemicals to make them look fresh, as they are so tasteless and rotten inside.

I used to shop at Lidl because it is my closest option, but the quality has gone down the drain over the years.
