I was disappointed regarding the behaviour of one of staff members at the Lidl store in Sheffield Town Centre. She is been one of most rudest person I have ever met in lidl.
while I was politely asking for a shopping bag at the checkout, the staff member responded in a very rude and dismissive manner.
On 3rd June 2025 I had an extremely unpleasant experience at this store involving a young female Lidl employee at the self-checkout area. I politely asked if there were any staffed tills available. Her response was rude and dismissive. When I remarked that I was essentially doing her job by scanning my own items, she became visibly hostile and threw a bag across the checkout machine.
She then began shouting hysterically at the security guard, asking how I dared to say I was doing her job — despite the fact that I had not insulted or threatened her in any way. A security guard quickly approached and stood chest-to-chest with me, clearly trying to intimidate me. I calmly asked, “Why are you touching me?”, having remained composed throughout the situation.
During this, the security guards told me they do not tolerate customers abusing staff. I replied calmly that, in fact, I was the one who had been verbally abused and intimidated. After paying for my items, I was escorted out of the store, treated as if I had done something wrong, despite having behaved respectfully and reasonably.
It was a humiliating and stressful experience. If Lidl is removing staffed checkouts while allowing aggressive and unprofessional behaviour from employees, then I no longer feel safe shopping here. You've lost me as a customer.

Staff need to clean the blue plastic shopping carts. They are absolutely filthy!! Several customers including myself were equally disgusted by the state of the shopping trolleys - FILTHY AND UNHYGIENIC.
How can Lidl really expect customers to use these things??
They are making record profits yet their trolleys are so dirty. Many other Lidl stores I have been to are the same.
Please sort it out Lidl..

Some good, some bad. Most of the Lidl foreign food specials they have taste bland and just not nice, but are packaged nicely and I buy new ones to try and then am almost always disappointed. Their salad boxes are usually sold out - stock is sporadic and not really reliable. Same with the bakery stuff. I do like the sourdough but it's too expensive. They used to have healthy veggie protein snacks which I loved but have now disappeared from the shelves. However some of the products are healthy and cheap-ish. All the tills are self-service and the queues are usually atrocious. I used to enjoy shopping there but now usually regret it. Also the vouchers aren't really worth bothering with.
