A new mother with an 11 DAY old baby…

A new mother with an 11 DAY old baby trying to carry baby seat and a not well baby was not placed first to get blood work. The Dr. sent the baby right over to the Life lab at 22 Richmond St, in Richmond Hill. I mention to the lab tech that because she doesn't have an appointment she will be last to be taken in and should be a priority. I realize they are busy and had only 2 Lab techs but ill newborns should be a priority. Lab tech said she could not put the 11 day old baby first?? They were cutting people in front of me for my timed visit. I don't understand how they can't realize that this newborn bay should be first.

My wife had an appointment for a urine…

My wife had an appointment for a urine test which was all that was on the requisition. She was then called and sent to room where the technician draw three viles of blood that wasn’t stipulated on the requisition. Upon checking the results it says no information on the blood samples because the requisition was not complete.

Yonge-College location to be avoided and staff to be retrained

While most LifeLabs locations are decent, it requires noting that the practices at the College/Yonge location are consistently unprofessional. Time and time again, arriving 30 minutes prior to closing, 4pm, patients are turned away. This is absolutely unacceptable. People specifically leave early from work, only to be faced with this nonsense. Talk with staff. Enough is enough. Inform them of their job or send them for on the job training to one of your other locations.

The lab tech at Albert st location RUDE BEHAVIOUR

The lab tech at Albert st location in Regina discriminating with patients. I was there inside the lab at 05:45 pm today for fasting blood work and the girl at the reception refused to take me in saying you supposed to be showed 20 minutes prior to closing for blood work. Inspire of requesting her that I have been fasting 12 hours fasting and now you are refusing me for me because she is Indian and I am Muslim and Pakistani and rudely behaving a minute before me a white lady she accepted her for blood work. I was very disappointed with service they are at the lab. I noticed such behaviour with other immigrants as well sometime before at the lab as well specifically with those patients having English communication barrier.

LifeLabs at 4949 Bathurst St charged me…

LifeLabs at 4949 Bathurst St charged me $87 even though I had insurance and showed the insurance proof on my phone. Following my doctor’s advice, I called several times, but the staff gave no real answers and kept postponing the issue to future weeks. On one call, while we were talking, they even hung up on us. I am extremely frustrated and formally complain about this branch.

Appointments times are not honored

Just like to know what the point is of setting up an appointment if they let a walk in get attended and a later appointment get dealt with prior to my earlier set appointment?
I had an appointment for 11am, got there 10:50 to check in, another person with an appointment for 11:10 went prior to me and a walk-in patient with no appointment. ?? How is this not frustrating? How does this not trigger someone's temper?
To make matters worse, they finally call me to a cubicle and I sit there even longer waiting to be done. I finally had my blood work done at 11:20, how is this fair?

Sorry to say that I had an appointment…

Sorry to say that I had an appointment today at 11:30 am but it was missing! Been here since 11:30 am and still waiting for my call. It is nearly an hour and a half. Wait time shows 40 minutes but is 90 minutes long. Sucks I think next time I will not get here. I have been coming for many years. Very bad experience

Fasting blood test walk in

I got there early and there was already a line up starting. They let us in way before 7:00 . These girls work so hard .. . That means they travel time and end time and it makes for a long day . But the technician who took me in Sheila is her name . The way she spoke it’s as if she was our caregiver.. I was touched by that . How she said we like to get all the requisitions then start drawing blood .. They have a system.. and they work together very well . Bravo to these ladies.

Excellent -- tip: book your appointment beforehand

I booked an appointment <-- you should do this whenever practical.
Only had a couple minutes wait. Tech Vangie was terrific. Entire process was very quick. I asked to forego the tape afterwards - removing it would have been more discomfortable than the needle to draw the blood.

The girl at the front desk was amazing. I had an appointment for 210 which I had booked online and I got my name called and it was called at 2:10. She was very professional very nice and appreciated that I was prepared with my documentation. I really wished I remembered her name because she was very nice and personable.

Absolutely terrible!!!

Very long waits at the Avonhurst Dr, Regina location. Attitude from staff. Staff standing around chatting and laughing and don’t look at even one patient for easily 20 minutes. Then they might process one patient and take another break for 20 minutes. I was even put into a cubicle and still waited another 25 minutes while I watched staff standing around chatting and socializing. There weren’t that many patients there and was over an hour wait. Absolutely inexcusable way to treat people.

Mishandling of personal medical information is of no interest to LifeLabs.

Understandably, issues about wait times are an issue for patients needing Fasting bloodwork done is unavoidable. The staff nevertheless are are very good and pleasant

My issue is that I learned through my daughter that my lab results were sent to her fertility clinic aswell as my appropriate doctors for the second time in 2 years
I reported this serious breach of trust the first time last year which resulted in no investigation or report of findings. I was in poor health and was unable to followup.

Just recently, my three physicians received the results (which was confirmed) with my inquiry based on the requisitions. However, my daughter's fertility clinic also received my lab results. It is serious problem that MY results with personal information were mishandled and carelessly shared to a clinic based on my and my daughter's last name? Fortunately, the clinic brought this to my daughter's attention.
I contacted LifeLabs again. Two times I was told the onis was on me to find out how this clinic received my results. This is not possible because I am not a patient there and they cannot devulge this information. After the first complaint the promised escalation and enquiry never happened and was blown off after the second attempt to get this looked into.

It is infuriating that this happened, but the refusal to look into this by LiveLabs demonstrates a lack of interest in investigating and resolving how patients records are handled.

How often does this situation occur and patients are unaware of the mishandling of private personal medical information?

Mistakes happen, but the refusal on the part of LifeLabs to investigate and address this issue is egregious and irresponsible. A lawsuit is waiting to happen!

Terrible, especially the website

My problem is mainly with the website and booking online. I booked an available slot online for a glucose tolerance test (GTT) at the 3101 Bloor St W location in Etobicoke. Came for the appointment when it was scheduled (2:40 pm) and was told it was too late in the day to do it as they close at 4 pm. Why then is the slot even bookable if some tests can’t be done? I looked everywhere on the site to see if you can specifically select the test you need and it was nowhere to be seen! They either don’t have this option or it’s not easy to find - either way it’s really bad for customers.

At the location I was told that I could’ve looked up their hours online and then looked up the duration of the test and determine myself if I should book it or not. Of course I could do that but if the slot is bookable, it makes people think they are still able to conduct any test the location offers. I’ve worked various jobs where you finish up with customers up to a half hour or 1 h after doors are closed so I assumed maybe they do this too.

1) I’m pregnant in my third trimester 2) I took half a day off from work to do this test 3) the day of my appointment was a winter storm 4) because of the storm I didn’t want to risk driving myself so I paid for a rideshare in a larger safer vehicle than my own to take me to the appointment 5) the test requires fasting for at least 12 h prior, so I didn’t eat or drink anything all day either which is not easy when you’re this pregnant.

I don’t think LifeLabs appreciates just how much their incompetence (particularly with their website booking system) can negatively affect people. At the location I was asked casually if I can come tomorrow or the next day (all weekdays) as though I didn’t already lose a half day of work for this nonsense - do you think people can just take off infinite amounts of time from work so easily? I asked about coming in on the weekend, and of course, they’re closed.

In the end one lady that works there told me about another location that is open weekends and suggested I come early (7 or 8 am) as they would be able to do the test there for sure at that time. Because of this 1 lady and her suggestion, this review gets 1 star (also because you can’t leave zero stars which would actually be my preference). I will be going in early then on the weekend to another location.

LifeLabs - fix your website and overall service, the amount of time, $ and effort you’ve caused me to lose on this is criminal.

Very long wait times for patients with appointments. But worse, they mix walkin's with appointments and place walkins before at times. The male receptionist does not call out for appointments 1st and confuses the schedule. The male receptionist is also very rude and abrupt. I suspect this behavior will result in physical confrontations. This is a poorly run lab.
9:40am appointment wasn't seen until 10:27pm.
