Canceled my order without notifying me

Ordered a dwarf gourami, received confirmation email, then received an email that my order was delayed, checked the website and they were out of stock so maybe they miscounted. But a month goes by, and when I checked the website the fish were back in stock. I spoke with a rep asking what the status on my order was and they had canceled it without notifying me a couple days prior. Had to dig back a month in my card statements to be sure they actually reverted the charge and fortunately they did. Can't review the fish, never got it.

Good day, Jess. We apologize the Gourami was unavailable to ship. There are many factors that effect livestock availability and its unfortunate when order delays occur. We can certainly attempt to replace order for you if you would like. Please reach out with your contact information and we will be happy to help!
Thank you!

Wow, absolutely horrible!

Wow! Horrible place to order from. Should have looked at the company's reviews online before using them. Messed up two orders, then, when I canceled they said it would be 3-5 days for the charge to come off. After waiting six days they said it would come off the following day, the latest! That has come and gone. I would suggest just going to the closest ocean and trying to catch your own fish or gather corals, you will have better luck with that! A 1 rating is actually too much!

Good afternoon Mr Dobe. We are sorry to hear of your experience. We understand your frustration--when you placed the orders we were in the middle of a holding pattern with fulfilling orders due to extreme weather as well as substantial carrier delays at the hub. Your authorizations should have all voided or dropped. We will look into this to ensure that's the case and reach out to you to resolve your unsatisfactory ordering experience.

Dead on arrival, terribly bagged, good customer service

My fish arrived dead. It did have a working heat pack, and was packaged well other than the bagging and water level, and looked to be a healthy specimen other than the fact that he was dead. The bag was smaller than any bag I have ever received a fish in! (smaller than the size of my palm, almost about the same width as the fish itself) And had an extremely low water level, maybe a couple of centimeters. It was double bagged and sealed with no punctures, so the bagging was simply done poorly. I raised hell with the customer service lady, props to her for staying so calm. She was very courteous and kind about the situation and because it was my first order with this particular company extended a refund, including shipping and boxing, and replaced the fish. Typically the company will only extend in store credit for the specimen only, so you will be out $40-60 when your specimen is DOA. That would have been fine if the fish had been given a chance at life from the very start, but it did not. We have owned many fish, beginner to advanced, over the years. Receiving fish from both specialty shops and online. My children wanted a hand in learning to care for a fish, and were gutwrenched when the fish arrived dead. I had to explain to them why a fish can’t survive in such a tiny bag and such little water. If we didn’t live in the middle of nowhere and weren’t such busy people, we would have made the hours trip to a specialty shop.

I had heard decent things about live aquaria, good and bad, and figured they couldn’t screw it up that bad on just one small fish right? I think their California location needs to be looked into.

I did have a good experience with their customer service, despite how upset I was. We will see what happens with the replacement I’ve been sent.

-UPDATE: we have received the replacement fish, and he is seemingly healthy albeit being a bit stressed and dull in color which is reasonable for having been shipped across the country. Bagging was MUCH better this time. Heat pack working, comfortably bagged. I will give him a couple weeks to get past the stress, if he does pass away I will simply accept the loss and chalk it up to stress. It is the risk you take when ordering live animals online! So long as it’s not the fault of the company, I accept the loss. I have updated the overall rating due to the good customer service and the fact that the second livestock was in much better shipping condition. Whoever had packaged the first beautiful fish has no idea what they are doing! I am glad this was all resolved and MIGHT consider using this company for livestock in the future, I am not sure. But I will use them for supplies as they have a great selection.

just wanted to send a email to notify…

just wanted to send a email to notify someone I have not had the best experience with this company. I am completely understanding of weather delays and am aware your company cannot control that. However when my fish arrived dead I asked for a refund and was given store credit instead. I was not happy about the situation but decided to go ahead and place an order anyways worrying about the shipping process again and curious if I would just be killing fish again trying to order them. When I read my email for store credit it specifically stated to add in comments to apply store credit. When I placed my order the full amount of the order was taken from my account and no store credit was applied. I suggest if you give someone store credit to make it out in a gift card or promo code so it is applied immediately and you do not charge someone's account for unnecessary charges. When I called your 1 800 number a lady answered, soon as I gave her my address she was immediately rude, did not give me a chance to state my problem or case and jumping to conclusions about something she did not completely understand the whole situation of. I was very polite, did not raise my voice or curse at her as so she did me, as in raising her voice. I understand you have a brand and company to protect and you're going to be fully persistent on keeping a good brand, I just wanted to state my case for your future orders and concerns you will receive about the same situation.

Good afternoon Jay. I apologize for the poor experience you had with your first order with Live Aquaria. Thank you for your understanding with the carrier delay. Our policy for lie stock losses or returns of supply orders is a credit on file for future purchase. After review of your record, it appears an exception was made and the refund was applied back to the original form of payment. When using credits on file, this is the process: When pacing order online, please add a note in the comment box stating your wish to use your store credit. This box is located above the "Place Order Now" button on the Review & Finalize page of checkout. After your order is submitted, your card will authorize for the full amount. However, once we apply your store credit, you will only be charged the remaining balance (if any).
I would like to extend a courtesy credit of $30.00 in hopes you will give us another try, as your first experience was not typical. Thank you for your consideration and have a great day, Jay!

DO NOT BUY FISH FROM THIS PLACE!

DO NOT BUY FISH FROM THIS PLACE!! I recently purchased 9 guppies from this place. The day they arrived, the largest guppy looked like he was rotting and decomposing and could barely swim. He looked as if he had been sick for a while, and was slowly wasting away. He was clinging to life and shaking. His back fin was drooping and he could barely swim. A few hours later, he died. About an hour after that a second guppy died.
Now to the blue guppies. Of the three, only one looked healthy. The other two had chewed up and rotting fins. One of the sickly ones had a bloated stomach and his blue fins were actually a greyish brown blue color.
His fins looked like he had survived a shark attack and his face was pale with bulging eyes. Imagine the walking dead but in fish form.
Most of the fish also had stringy white poop, which usually indicates a parasitic or bacterial infection.
The return policy for this company is STORE CREDIT only. But why would I ever purchase ANYTHING from this company again?
And for the record, I have purchased fish from Petsmart and Petco, and even with their stock usually being substandard, the pet shops have never sold me anything this low quality before, EVER!!
A COMPLETE AND TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY!!

Literally the worst supplier of fish

Literally the worst supplier of fish. Every animal I purchased was damaged or poor quality. I purchased 2 "lemon oscars" that ended up just terrible quality albinos for a premium price. They were also lethargic from being cold in 60° water (these are tropical fish). A couple invertebrates the snails had cracks and broken shells. Then the plecostomus was clinging to life with shredded fins that broke off into more and more pieces when he'd try to move. Nothing was officially DOA but this company should be shut down for animal abuse. Absolute worst care I've ever seen. On the customer service side they said to email them for what I thought were incorrect fish (the "lemons") but customer service ignored my email. The pleco died soon after arrival since it was so busted up so I filed a claim for their 14 day warranty and received a small store credit of $7 for the pleco $9 sick and damages pleco. I spent $100 between shipping and fish. Absolute hole do not buy!!

Would give zero stars if I could

Would give zero stars if I could. Ordered a midas blenny and it arrived dead...no ice packs in the box and it was so hot inside when I got it (unlike when I ordered corals from another establishment, which was carefully shipped with cooling packs). I feel sick this fish was essentially killed this way. I'll never be using them again.

Don't do this to the poor animals…

My last several orders from them have gone horribly. This last one I ordered snails. 100% dead, 75 snails. 50 were < 1/4" nassarius snails. A supervisor from live aquaria instructed me after titration not to put them even in a quarantine tank, but my tank, even though I knew they were dead. So I did. Then I had to raise heaven and hell and beg to get half of my money back from another supervisor. They wanted me to pull all 75 "tiny unseeable" shells on a white background even after I warned them on multiple occasions their recommendations led to this. I will not do business with them again. Order before this: coral. Dead on arrival. Order before that: gobies, 8. I have 3 that survived. Don't order from them unless you're okay with fish harvested from the ocean for profit dying. Buy ORA or Local fish store, but never, never, liveaquaria.

Bad fish quality

I have a 75 gallon tank. I have placed an order with LiveAquaria on 2 separate occasions, and both times have lost most of the fish within the first week. The first time, I blamed it on the fact that I was a new hobbiest and was inexperienced. Many successful years later, the same thing happened with the second order. 2 fish were DOA, and I keep losing more fish by the day. I followed all the proper acclimation procedures. There are fish in that tank that are over 4 years old and still thriving. The only ones dying are the ones from liveaquaria. You can’t get a refund, only a store credit which is completely useless to me. I will never again be placing any orders with them.

Hi Lori--We are sorry to hear you had an unusually high loss rate. I see you reported a couple of Lyretail Molly's as losses, however those are the only two we show claimed. We are here to help in any way we can with water parameters and assistance with aquarium conditions. I will send you a private message in hopes we can discuss you concerns more thoroughly. Go Somewhere Else for Fish

I've ordered from them three times. One fish of what was supposed to be a male/female pair was left out of the first order, and one arrived dead in the third order. Granted, they will refund you the costs of the fish, but you are still out the $29.99 overnight air shipping. You won't receive a credit on that, even when LiveAquaria manages to leave a fish out of your original shipment. A credit on a missing or dead fish is nice, but that really doesn't begin to cover the shipping charges on an order they screwed up, and they are not going to offer to send you a replacement on their dime.

On the positive side, their packaging and shipping procedures (when the fish actually makes into the package) are great and their representatives are very pleasant. However, that I'm out $60 in shipping charges on one fish I didn't receive and one that arrived dead seems like a very valid reason to longer shop with them. There are other places to shop for fish and plants online, I would recommend trying those before LiveAquaria.

My first order and the fish was dead

My first order from them resulted in a dead blend arriving and an order for a coral that was in stock when I purchased but, after I submitted the order, was back ordered for weeks possibly. Customer service said they’d apply credit to my account for the dead fish. But, if I want to reorder, they'd charge me $40 for box fees and shipping if I want use that credit to get a new fish. I have. A”box” right here that the dead fish cane in and $30 shipping that the was wasted. And I’m not sure if, when my coral gets in stock, they’ll charge for shipping that separately. I won’t be using them again.

Definitely a great experience

Definitely a great experience. I made an order of fish from live aquaria. They all came packaged extremely well. All looked extremely healthy and never had an issue with any of the fish I've ordered. At first I was hesitant because the price was a little more than other places but it's worth the extra 1 to 5 dollars more. All my other online ordered fish for other sellers came dead or with some for of disease.
