Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people expressed dissatisfaction with the high prices, finding them unaffordable and noting concerns about certain pricing practices. Customers also frequently reported issues with product quality, citing mold on items, old and flavorless fruit, and products that did not meet expectations. The staff and customer service were also a major source of frustration, with many experiencing unhelpful, rude, or unprofessional interactions. However, some customers also noted that they were generally pleased with their purchases, particularly regarding fresh vegetables, bakery items, and marinated fish or chicken. A few other people also felt that the company makes it easy to cook and appreciated collecting stickers for glasses.

Young black woman assaulted

A young black woman was assaulted physically and verbally (racist slurs) by a white man. Prior to the assault the young woman was already treated poorly by an employee who not only failed to serve her in the same manner they did other customers but also called her racial slurs. The company failed to intervene in any way but rather banned the young woman that was assaulted, making their stance on racism clear. Do not support this place!

Every weekend I go the Bakery at your College Square store.
You stand there for 10 minutes while the 3 employees stand behind the counter talking looking at you then continue talking. Worst service ever. When you do finally get served they act like you have imposed on their day. I left this weekend without being served. I will not be back.

Assault on young black woman

A white woman who works here was being racist to a black young woman. The first thing she did was giving her less food than she was supposed to get. Then when she talked to the manager about it she got the meal for free. She went to the white woman again for things she was supposed to get but then she starts saying racist slurs. She says something about it but then an old white man decides he can just but into the situation. He slaps her and grabs her by the throat because she says something about it. (This is NOT okay and you should do something about it). To make it worse the young woman gets banned from your place. This is something you should be ashamed of! shame on you for not doing anything about it.

I witnessed an assault on a young woman…

I witnessed an assault on a young woman and no one in the establishment did anything simply because of her color. Rather than taking her needs into consideration and persecuting the perpetrator, she was removed and banned from the establishment. This behavior is ludicrous and I will no longer support this company unless the young woman receives justice.

Four months and still waiting for my eyeglasses!

We purchased eye glasses, a pair of single vision and a pair of progressives on Valentine's Day 2023 at Theodore and Pringle Optical located in Superstore and owned by Loblaws, and a month later when they arrived, they had to be returned because the lenses were done incorrectly. We've yet to receive the corrected pair!!!

The main reason they suck is because with all the millions of dollars the company makes annually, they give there employees barely anything. Its no wonder they are so short staffed..... Greed is discusting.

We bought the teriyaki pre-made dinner…

We bought the teriyaki pre-made dinner with rice. Before the recent addition of rice there was always enough chicken stir fry for a decent meal. The rice took up more than 2/3 thirds of the packaging and we found only two pieces of chicken. A total waste of money.

That was supposed to be my dinner but my GARBAGE CAN enjoyed it more than me. Tell your cook not to rush when cooking. My first time buying ready to eat meal in Loblaws. So disappointed on the result. Never again.

Horrific incident of racial profiling…

Horrific incident of racial profiling at Provigo on 381 Boul Maloney E in Gatineau. Loblaws owns Provigo. A manager accused a black customer of stealing; then demanded he search his back or he would call the police. He found no stolen items, but then decided to promptly ban the customer when he asked to see evidence of alleged previous theft. He then called the police anyways even though nothing was stolen.

Loblaw should be ashamed of their…

Loblaw should be ashamed of their operation as a Canadian grocery store, last quarter profits of 529 million is a real kick in the face of Canadian consumers, Canadians across Canada in low to middle income are going through tough times with the economy while Loblaw records record profits, I understand that they are open to make a profit for their shareholders, but not record profits when consumers are struggling with an inflated economy, I personally will not be shopping at Loblaw and call for a boycott on shopping in their grocery stores, until they get to know what it means to feel the pressure of the economy.

I am a customer and a potential employee

Absolutely no star. Recently, I applied for a position (minimum wage) with Loblaws, which requested a background check through a company called CERTN. While I am happy with background checks that police conducts, my experience with this company made me feel extremely uncomfortable.

I wanted to conduct a background check on CERTN, they provided minimal information about the company, the process or the employees handling the most vulnerable personal information of individuals. Although CERTN claims to have an office in Victoria, BC, their calls came with California area code. Furthermore, their website lacks information about whether they destroy client information or how they guarantee the protection of personal identity. Additionally, they send the individual's information to third world countries like Nigeria to conduct background research. I was required to grant complete access to my identity, including my birth city, dates, a photo of my driver's license next to my headshot, and the back of my driver's license. The CERTN contracted employee I had to interacted with was unprofessional, leaning on her inch long nails with a smirk on her face, and she sent me emails at midnight demanding immediate replies. Her demeanor and the entire CERTN background check process felt unsettling, resembling a scam targeting individuals for their identities.
Conveniently CERTN also offer identity theft protection services around the globe.
No company should be trusted when they display such a lack of professionalism such as LABLAWS or CERTN.
To safeguard against potential identity theft, I have informed my bank and credit bureau about this incident and will monitor any compromise of my bank account. Given these concerns, I have decided to reject any job offer from a company that requires potential employees to provide their personal information to what appears to be a scam operation like CERTN.
