Had my 5-year EICR done on my 2-bed flat last week by London Electricians Direct and couldn’t be happier with the service. Super easy to book, great communication, and the engineer was on time, polite... See more

Fantastic Electrician
Had an amazing experience with London Electricians Direct. Ian and Claire were super helpful and told me exactly what I needed and had someone out to me really quickly. I would 100% recommend them and they will have my business going forward
Went to London electricians direct…
Went to London electricians direct because I needed an EICR, I was lucky enough to speak with the Ian who was extremely helpful and understanding. The work was carried out within days, and I got the certification the next working day.
Amazing experience with an amazing team.
NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE
We were about to move and at the last moment had to provide an EICR. We found Ian Masters on Google, he was available at short notice and his fee of £180 inc VAT seemed reasonable.
He and his assistant came and carried out the necessary checks which took them 30 minutes and we were told that the outdoor isolator boxes needed replacing and some items on the consumer unit required upgrading at a further cost of £744 inc VAT. Because of our time frame, we had no option but to go with this. Again he came with the same young man and the work took them a mere 35 minutes!!! and there was considerable mess left outside.
The total figure we had to pay for our EICR was £978
NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE
EICR
I recently contacted London Electricians Direct to get an EICR certificate on one of my buy to let properties. The great thing about this firm is that they lliased directly with my agent to sort out access to the property to get the remedial work suggested done in a timely manner. Their online payment process is very smooth also as well as their email communication.
Very professional
EICR and remedial work in Northolt by local electrician Sam - punctual, efficient, careful, courteous.
No Bueno!
No Bueno! EICR was issued unsatisfactory (although they told my tenants everything was fine). Multiple attempts to contact them for remedial work, ignored. Have now had a diligent electrician in, who has demonstrated that LED had actually tested nothing. EICR is an easy money-spinner for unscrupulous cowboy jobbers. Presumably the company will have folded or changed name by now, but this comment deserves to be made.
Loft conversion wiring
London Electricians Direct are by far the best contractor we have ever had out.
They listened to our needs, provided a fair quote and completed the job to a high standard on time.
Honestly refreshing to deal with and I don't get to say this often.
Great company good service
Great company, fast, efficient and professional. Had my property tested electrican was very knowledgeable. Got the repairs booked in promptly.
This is a lovely family-run business.
I'm a lettings agent, with the new changes to legislation, I have been offering my clients EICRs in preparation for their tenancies.
I've worked with several companies and I can confidently say, that LED are by far the best that I have worked with. The team are all lovely, you get a real sense that it's a family business, I've never called and not got an answer, the prices are reasonable, they have great availability and the work is great.
Best of all, they have a really clever website that actually works! A lot of contractors try to be clever with their sites but ultimately it's just a prepaid job request that goes through to a person that then has to book you in manually, a waste of time. The LED site does everything I need, I book jobs in seconds and I know that they will be turning up at the time promised. I also love that every now and again I can book an eco-friendly job!
I always recommend LED to my clients for EICRs and remedial works, I think they would do a great job for everyone.
Company made an avoidable, costly mistake, and won't apologise or make it right
TLDR: Company made a mistake, this has cost me time and money, they don't acknowledge this or make any recompense. Would not recommend!
I booked a replacement of a faulty bathroom extractor fan. When I made the booking, I provided both a photo of the currently-installed fan, and its make and model number. I myself sourced the replacement fan, and have receipts and photos confirming that it is the same make and model number as the original.
When the engineer arrived, I explained to him that the fan was the same model, so he should just be able to slide out the internal workings but leave the casing attached to the wall i.e. not have to remove it, drill, damage the plaster etc. He said 'we'll see'. I asked him if he wanted me to let him get on with it, and he said yes, to which I said I was in the next room if he needed anything.
Just shy of an hour later (he makes no attempt to speak to me during the work), he calls me in as he's finished the work. The new fan is wired up and working, but he tells me that the fan I supplied was in a smaller casing than the old one, so he'd had no choice but to remove the old one and fit the new one from scratch. This had resulted in holes in the plaster, and unsightly damage to the paintwork. I said I thought this was odd, as it was the same model number, but at first glance I assumed the explanation he gave me was correct, and that for some reason the manufacturer had changed the size of the model. At this point, all I could see was that I'd have to fill in the holes, seal around the edge, and paint over. Not great, but something I'd accepted I might have to do.
The engineer volunteers to take the old fan with him, which I agree to (thinking he means to dispose of it in an electrical goods bin), and he leaves.
When I am filling in the holes, and applying sealant, I discover what had really happened. The Xpelair CF20T has a two-part casing: (look up Premier CF20T Fan on the Xpelair website) . The engineer had omitted to fit the second part of the casing! The external wraparound (at the back) is fitted to the wall, and then the casing housing the fan is fitted inside this (and is also fixed to the wall). This only became apparent to me when sealing a hole round the back of the casing which wasn't fully visible when the engineer showed me the work (through which wires enter the casing).
I immediately contacted the company and asked if the engineer could bring back what he'd taken away (as I realised he must have taken away both the old and the new secondary casing). He called me and I was informed that he'd just chucked it in a bin near where he'd parked. I even went and looked in the bins on the street - couldn't find it. So I had to settle for filling in the holes, sealing, painting, and putting tape over a hole at the back of the casing which is supposed to be covered by plastic (of the wraparound casing).
Everyone makes mistakes, but what made me really mad was that the engineer claimed:
- That I had sourced the wrong fan (I literally have the receipts and photos to prove it was a like for like);
- That he'd been there for 1.5 hours not an hour, but hadn't charged me for the half hour (my entry phone and phone records show he was there for an hour);
- That I'd asked him to take the old fan away - I can't prove this because it was verbal, but believe me, he offered.
Despite emailing all of the proof I have to the company, all the boss (Ian) has done is reiterate what the engineer said. They have not responded to my complaint, nor to my chaser email four days later.
I spent £31 (on decorating equipment) and several hours of my time making this good. Really regret using this company for what should have been a basic, straightforward job, but which was not carried out satisfactorily, and because they have not responded satisfactorily to an unhappy customer.
What a nightmare!
I ordered an eicr. They only take prepayment for everything it seems. The kid who turned up turned the power off and labelled everything in the fusebox. Said it didn't pass. Then I got a bill from them for 2 extra circuits (have no idea if it's true or not) and to investigate some things further, which would take 2 hours. So I paid them the 2 hours. Another guy turned up. Looked at the fuse box and ranted about the previous guy being rubbish. Stayed barely 20 minutes and said he'd figure a way to replace the fuse box. Then I got something in the email to say the 2 hours were used up and an estimate of £2.5k for replacing the fusebox. I called them up and explained that he did no investigation we paid for at all. And then chased them as they did nothing all week about it. Then the kitchen people brought the builder (we're having a mega expensive German kitchen) to see what needs doing. The builder said he'd have to rewire the kitchen, and we told him just as well as we notice there are surges in the light fittings, and it was something the first guy said needed looking at which the second guy just brushed off. The builder said he could replace the fusebox as well and I thought 'Halleluja!' So I called up them up and ask them to refund me the one hour and forget it. At least they did that smartish.
THIS COMPANY HAS NO INTEGRITY I WISHED…
THIS COMPANY HAS NO INTEGRITY I WISHED THAT I HAD READ THE REVIEWS
Especially the one from ROBIN DAIEE. if I had done so I HAVE SAVED MYSELF MY MONEY AND I would not be writing this review.
I used them as they advertised a competitive price cost structure. 2 bed flat 10 circuits for £120. I rent this flat out the service was fast, and prompt,. So why 1 star well they would not let me leave a review without starring them quite frankly I would not have given them any stars why? because they are dishonest.
Why are they dishonest because after my inspection I received this e-mail.
Good morning,
Please find attached our invoice showing payment made for the EICR at
This payment was for up to 10 circuits on the consumer unit. On inspection there were 14 circuits found, so there is an extra payment due of £60 plus VAT (4 x £15 Plus VAT). One this is paid we will happily forward your certificate.
Many thanks in advance,
Kind Regards,
So I paid what did I receive no pass certificate only a rejection and a quote for over £900.00 to obtain a safety certificate in their view!
Again, READ ROBIN DAIEE review
As he puts it “ I don’t want others to be ripped off. This is a company taking advantage of the LAW which now requires these EICR tests for rental properties. If you need a test go to an organisation that only does testing and if there are remedial works required get them done by third party. Also agree retest conditions before you proceed. I have multiple properties and I will not make this mistake twice.
Also note Star Reviews will only let you give a review if you are invited by the company following works. I was not invited to give feedback. Strange !! So, 120 5 -star reviews mean’s very little when only happy customers are invited to feed back. Another lesson learnt by me

Avoid at all costs!!! Not good Choice for EICR
I used them as they seemed to have a sensible cost structure. 2 bed flat 10 ccts for £120. I rent this flat out and used to live in it. I'm also a professional engineer and used to be an electrican so I know the wiring and installation in this flat is safe . The service is fast, promt, and the team polite. So why 1 star. Price, Price Price and lack of technical knowledge. They are either dishonest or technically not competent.
I had 14 circuits in total but my 1st invoice stated 17 circuits tested (3 of wich were contactors in the board associated with underfloor heating). The additional 7 ccts were charges at £18 each more than the cost per circuit based on 10 circuits for £120. As I am technically experienced I challenged this and got 3 circuits removed but no appology or acceptance they made a mistake and was still charged an additional £76. Note they imply the test and inspection takes 2 hours but the electrician was only on site for 50 mins so see no justification to chage more.
The cost of the test was £196 and the electrician was in my property for a total of 50mins. Expensive. Note the cert is a template and the meters used for EICRs takes and stores all necessay readings so the report activity take 30 mins max. hourly rate pretty much over £100 per hour.
I then recieved the report and had multiple C2 failures aroud RCD protection. RCD protection is required in all new installations but are not required to be retrospecfully appied unles there are instances where a clear and present saftey issue. These observations should have been C3 recomended and I confirmed this with the IET as I am a member or the IET. I raised my concerns with them several times and rather than investigate the facts, I ended up doing this myself.
Also told 2 underfloor hearing circuits needed RCBOs as they were rated above 20 amps. No such reg exists. Again I challenged and in the end confirmed with the IET. Not modern istallations install RCD protection to all underfloor heating not just ones over 20 Amps but this is not retrospecivly enforcable and presents no major risk as the installation in the flat was compliant to 1996 regs and protected with suitable MCBs. RCD prtection here is only an improvement.
It gets worse, they correctly identified bathroom lights should be IP44 rated. But for remedial works of 4 RCBO Breakes and 2 lights they charged £420 plus vat £504. This is 1 hours work. I honestly though bearing in mind I declared I was an IET member and used to be a electrician they would change tact but they charge this crazy price.
Why did i go ahead you ask, well I asked what would the cost would be if I did the work myseld i was told I would have to pay for a re-test so £196. So they had me over a barrel and I was invested in this rip off. The cost of materials is £25 for each RCBO including vat. The bathroom lights are chepest posible so £25 each including VAT so parts £150. Labour over £300 for an hours work (time on site 1 man confirmed by tenant). Sevice and politness 5 starts but value for money 1 star every day and I question their technical knowledge.
Why have I posted this, I dont want others to be ripped off. This is a company taking advanatge of the LAW which now requires these EICR tests for rental properties. If you need a test go to an organisation that only does testing and if there are remedial works required get them done by third party. Also agree retest conditions before you proceed. I have multiple properties and I will not make this mistake twice.
