This was my first opera experience and it was fun. I like that the songs are captioned but I think the whole time should be - I missed a lot of the dialogue because of audience laughter or other actors speaking, etc. I still have no idea who the redhead is but based on the ending I guess she's not one of his sisters or aunts or cousins
Fabulous evening and production. A lot of fun and very entertaining.
The sound was very low and we struggled to hear some of the artists, which was a shame as they were wonderful. Mel Giedroyc didn’t seem to add anything to the performance, we felt that at times it was more pantomime than anything else, and we left halfway through the second half. Very disappointing!
This is a fantastic show, making the already funny script yet more hilarious. Of course, there is brilliant singing, but there is also class acting and excellently choreographed dancing that adds to the humour. There is even a brilliant tap dance. Who knew opera singers could do that? I had a great seat in the Dress Circle with an excellent view. Altogether, a wonderful night to remember.
