Well worth a watch, two actors stood out for me, Mr Braithwaite & the young pupil who was infatuated by him, they were all great, just needed bit more practice as I understand show put together in short space of time - loved it
Excellent show
I absolutely loved the iconic 1967 film and had such high hopes for this rendition - especially when I heard Lulu was going to be in the show but unfortunately, these were not fulfilled. When Kris Lythgoe came out on stage at the beginning and said that they'd only had 4 days of rehearsals, I thought "Oh dear" and I was right. For whatever reason, Lulu walked about and delivered her lines reading from an open folder - it looked more like a rehearsal reading than a final performance. There were a few fluffs but that didn't get in the way of what was an energetic performance that the whole cast put their hearts in to. Wayne Brady as 'Sir' was immense and I became more accepting of Lulu's lines reading as it went on but I thought that at least at the end, she'd nail it with that famous song but again, I was disappointed - no solo perfromance from her and I even thought that when the show had finished, she'd do an encore solo perofrmance but no. Finally, a word about ticket prices. We paid £198 for two seats in row E of the stalls. That was our choice but for what was almost a preview show, they should have made all seats £50 and allocated on a first come first served basis.
