Don't bother with a free lovefilm TRIAL - since amazon no discs were sent in trail period for 2 weeks! Cancelled it.

I had subscriptions and trials before via Lovefilm, before it was taken over by amazon. So, Amazon offered me a free trial and I though OK, why not.

I was expecting the old LoveFilm service - I couldn't be more wrong. I've filled up list with required 10 titles.. two weeks later and two weeks into my free 30 day trial - no discs were sent - so I cancelled.

When this was under Lovefilm management, you would created the account and on the same day you'd have discs already showing as dispatched.

I suspect what they are trying to do... is to keep you on free trial, not send dics and probably send you some a few days before it expires - you can not cancel the subscription while you have discs in possession... so you get the idea what is likely to happen.

After I cancelled the Amazon/lovefilm I've subscribed to 14 days trial with Cinema Paradiso... Guess what? The discs were sent out on the same day, same title list than I had on Amazon.

It's a shame that a good company is going down under a bad management.

Lovefilm is really poor since Amazon Prime switchover

As a Lovefilm by post subscriber for several years I can only say what a shambles the final switchover to Amazon has been, to the point that I think I will cancel

Whilst under amazon ownership but using the lovefilm website, all was fine. On the day of switchover I got the follwing.

I apprantely had films on rental that had been returned 2 years previous - this resulted in no new film allocations. Customer support could not see the problem and after two weeks and many emails they acknowldged the problem and sent one extra film rental.

The website is really poor at locating coming soon and only showing big titles that are months away - Where are the next week and next month views?

Another big website flaw is that often I amend a single priority, the whole list goes to normal priortity.

Being as Amazon own the last remaining "by post "system it feels like the end of an era. Streaming is all well and good but does not have new releases for months after in the shops. Maybe they are hoping to bury the "by post" in the hope of more DVD purchases instead.

No obvious point to this offering...

I tried an on-demand service from Love Film about 2-years ago and was very underwhelmed (exiting was also too laborious for words). I have just got a Amazon Prime Instant Video promo 1-month trial. After an hour looking for something to watch gave up: history, comedy, documentaries all pretty dire offerings or buy the DVD as it wasn't available on-demand.... big weary sigh of disillusionment. So nothing has changed in the intervening time - so why bother Amazon? I use Amazon a lot for purchases, this product/offering are pretty weak. Now I know why Net flicks is more popular with friends and colleges. Suggest you don't waste your time, go elsewhere.

AWFUL!!!

I loved my Lovefilm subcription before greedy Amazon took over! I paid £7.99 a month and I got my Lovefilm Instant and my Lovefilm By Post. I didn't even realise that anything would change when Amazon took over as they told me nothing was changing but the name, what a load of bull. I had to email them several times before they clearly told me that I would be expected to pay £79 for Amazon Prime for the year otherwise I couldn't get instant video anymore. I don't know about anyone else but I don't have that kind of money to just fork out. Absolutely ridiculous. Don't fix something that's not broken!!!!

Hatefilm Now!

This business has gone completely awful since Amazon completed their integration with Lovefilm! Absolutely awful! I migrated my account to Amazon early in the process as required but when the full website takeover happened I found that I could not edit my number of discs package, just kept getting to a dead page boasting the benefits of Lovefilm by post membership. Tried the help section but back to the same page. Then sent several messages to the help centre only to receive automated messages advising to cancel my membership! Enraged, I tried to do this only to be returned to the dead page again! So I have now deleted all my payment card details on Amazon in the hope that if they cannot take payment then they will finally cancel my Lovefilm account! So sad, had such good service with Lovefilm! Surely whoever was managing this changeover will be let go? OR.. was their brief to completely ruin the by post rental market to drive people to online streaming? Whichever, Amazon have completely ruined any goodwill I have with them and have lost a customer today. Hopefully many others too.

Amazon has acted.Disgracefully

We went to view our love films this evening, and noticed that we had to re- register with Amazon. We were appalled to see that Amazon, are now charging Prime Time fee on all of the films that you may want to watch. So what was free as part of your Love film membership,no longer stands, and you have to pay to watch the films,in addition to your original membership fee.Appalling,my sons and I could not watch our films,so we watched Netflix instead.Really disappointed Love films member.

hate lovefilm now

what a disaster that amazon has changed lovefilm, i lost all my reviews, making me unsure now what i have rented, got rid of the ability to see all my past rentals over 60, made it extremely hard and confusing to navigate and search for films. if you type say sean connery films there is not a year of release option, just a crap popularity one and dvd relesase one so for example dr no came out in 1962, but it shows the latest release of the film instead of its year of release. another issue is my rental list list showing releases in a disorganised way. utter shit. why of why did amazon destroy such a great service that was called lovefilm.

Amazon ruin Lovefilm

What a spectacular disaster the changes made by Amazon are. Take a good service with nicely designed intuitive, modern web site and shoe-horn it into the dated Amazon web site, reduce the functionality, make it really ugly and difficult to use - good job Amazon! On top on this don't bother sending out discs to your paying customers.

Who on earth could be responsible for this and think that it's a good idea?! The lovefilm people knew what they were doing, Amazon's clearly don't. I don't really care if you call it Lovefilm, Amazon Lovefilm, Amzon Prime or Amazon Inferior - but now would be a good time to buy shares in Netflix!!!

Why do I have to now pay to rent/buy programmes that were included before?

We got the email to say that love film was becoming part of amazon prime, but that only the name would change. What utter lies.

We only really subscribed to the streaming because our daughter loves The Smurfs amd they had all the series on love film. The day it became Amazon Prime, we went to watch an episode, only to be prompted to buy or rent it. And weirdly, ramdom episodes like 8 and 12 would be available as normal while the rest were chargeable. Bl**dy disgusting.

Customer services had no clue and promised it would be back to normal in a few days and promised to call us back then. We got no call.

Service cancelled and dvds ordered instead.

I never loved love film and preferred Netflix anyway but would still have been with them had this not happened. Thanks for saving me money, Amazon!

deleting all of customers' past film reviews and ratings. why do they do that? is it that they have too many customers and want to reduce the number quickly? will probably work.

Amazon have ruined a great company which was Love Film!

I have been a customer of love film for a couple of years now and it WAS brilliant! I payed £9.99 for the disc/streaming service and it worked brilliant every time. I received the email to change over to the amazon account, which I tried and tried. Only for the log in to say 'Your LOVEFiLM subscription is no longer active'.

No customer service!!!

Why it says this I do not know, I never canceled (yet) and then amazon promoted for me to pay £80 I join (not very easy to spot them trying to do this).
Amazon have ruined a great company which was Love Film!

I have sent three emails no reply after a week.
Looks like I will be joining netflix very soon.

After 7 years goodbye and good riddance

I have been on lovefilm for over 7 years. However now big greedy amazon an American company who pay low wages and little tax in this country have took over. Down goes the service overnight. It takes days for the DVDs to arrive after you have found the button. Other films such as gattaca (release date 1998) have to be paid for on top of the service. A nice simple, great service has been ruined by idiots hell bent on their own greed.you have to have principles in life . One of mine is simple. I won't be mucked around by anybody so good bye . Pity I was a customer for life. While I am at it I will close my amazon account as well. I would advise other people to do the same. It is only by this way we can stop them treating us like this.

Amazon making a great service poor in order to force the 'death of physical media'.

I'm sick of companies trying to force me down the streaming/digital route, I WANT PHYSICAL MEDIA. It's better quality. Amazon have basically buried the DVD/Blu-ray by post part of LoveFilm behind layers and layers of rubbish that tries to force you to go down the streaming route.

They've done this because they want to kill of the physical media side of the business because they've bought into the meme that digital/streaming is 'the future.' It's not. I was going to sign up to LoveFilm but now that its a confused mess I'll go elsewhere. Streaming is there to compete with TV channels like Sky and ITV, it's not there to compete with DVD/Blu-Rays.

Good Bye Amazon

As with other reviewers here, I was a big fan of Lovefilm, with its simple intuitive interface and wide range of films. When Amazon re-aquired it last year they tried to force me into paying an annual £79 fee for Amazon prime, which I can't use as our internet is too slow) on top the payment for renting discs through the post. I cancelled the prime membership but continued with the discs through the posts until they just cancelled the unlimited discs per months package I was using and downgraded me to 3 discs, upping my monthly payment by an extra £4. They clearly want to kill off the discs though the post aspect often business and so I will help them by cancelling my subscription and am moving over to Cinema Paradiso instead.

Amazon Prime = Ripoff

I signed up Lovefilm to have unlimited online streaming and DVD by post. Since they changed over to Amazon, they have asked me for payment for every streaming. The new Amazon menu is confusing and rubbish. The lovefilm by post button is so small that it took me a while to find it. They sent me two DVD by post a week ago and there are no sign of them. This is a seriously bad business practice that is driven by greed, treating customers like fools and milking their money like cash cows. I am sure a large number of people have been cancelling their accounts!
